  1. I wouldn't count the idea out, nor have high hopes of this happening anytime soon. Only time will tell, because the POA is under an American flag if it was moved like the Jade (formally the pride of Hawaii) it wouldn't be able to regain its American status easily. I think it's most likely another U.S. Flagged vessel will take over in the distant future.

  2. From NCL:

Shore Excursion Credit Offer: $75 credit per port, per stateroom. The $75 credit is applicable for each port, and is not transferable to other ports. Use the credit or lose it. Limit 7 ports. Does not include embarkation and debarkation ports. Shore excursion credit can only be redeemed by calling 1-866-625-1167 or booking on board. Shore excursion credit has no monetary value, is non refundable and is non-transferable.

  3. Our most recent sailing on Celebrity was this past fall. There was no charge for room service that I can remember. (We rarely use room service, and this would not drive the train [or ship] for us.)

Re Istanbul v. Ephesus, and with the caveat that I've never been to Istanbul (but it's high on my list), I'm not sure how you'd compare a living city with a city of ruins, but Ephesus is phenomenal. We visited Ephesus on our Med cruise aboard the Jade, and went on a private shore excursion with a guide; It was a truly extraordinary day; the ruins are amazing. It is a place well worth visiting, particularly with a private guide. (And be sure to include the Terrace Houses.)

  4. I believe that there is something open somewhere on the ship - the specialty

restaurants have pretty much fixed hours as well as the MDRs. The buffet

is open for breakfast lunch and dinner albeit when breakfast time is finished

the buffet closes briefly to set up for lunch and the same in the late afternoon

for dinner. During those periods The Great Outdoors (Pool Deck 11 Aft) has a

limited menu. The Sports Bar has a late evening till wee hours food schedule.

And then there is the Room Service Pizza with fee.

Because it is a smaller ship the buffets are not sized like the monster ships

but the NCL SUN does a good job of having a variety of menu choices.

I have been on the SUN STAR and the DAWN and the SUN is my ship of choice !

You can always take food from the buffet to your stateroom to eat later but

there really is no way to warm it up (NO microwave oven) so best consider

a cold plate selection. If you bring a roll of plastic wrap the food can be

    covered from the elements.

AND the all important Soft Serve Ice Cream machine is in the alcove of

The Great Outdoors and is normally open from about noon to 9pm !

Just an small addition, great list btw, the pizza does have a charge yes, but it can be delivered anywhere on the ship, so as to not wake up your cabin mates.

  5. Same weeks for comparison

2015 OV with UBP promo - 229 pp

2016 OV with Inclusive Drinks - 409 pp

2016 Inside with Inclusive Drinks - 339 pp

So for 2016 I gotta spend $200 more to get on the ship; no view. Business must be good!

NCL will be advertising this to death. Curious to see what, if anything, Royal does with Enchantment coming to Miami and if Carnival has any tricks up their sleeves.

Thanks for the comprehensive look at some rates, I think the point here is they are including the beverages in their base price, it's not a hidden fee it's all in for that much, I can appreciate your stance on this, I still see this as a win for some. Enjoy the sailing you've booked.

  6. But functionally speaking nothing more or less than what I've got now?

Correct in practice it's exactly what you have booked right now, as someone else said even inside cabins will receive this perk, so good news there for those who would book an inside cabin and normally be excluded from some promos.
