1.
Solarac, I am surprising my husband with a cruise for his birthday in June. I am going to tell him a week before on our anniversary. Do you have any suggestions for presenting the surprise to a guy? I am not very creative. I am glad I do not have to keep the secret as long as you, I am also afraid after too many drinks I am going to slip up lol.
What's his hobby?

  2. I bought a watch last cruise with mine. Which subsequently led to me spending $300.00 more on one for my wife. :(

LOL, seriously I don't look at OBC as free money, it's all factored in to the overall price of the cruise.

It may not be free money, but it does allow you a few (or maybe one) things that you may not splurge on while onboard. Looks like their donation to your account paid off for them lol

  3. In the wake of these promos, some if not most, things that we usually pay for with our OBC or onboard account, are included.

This is more of a Suite concern only because those who have paid for a suite have received all of the current promo (at time of booking)

Any thoughts or suggestions of what you will be using your OBC for?

  4. Not exactly. Here's what they do offer:

Remember in Europe, on most days you will be off the ship by 8 - 8:30 am and not get back until 5pm or later where about all you will want to do is eat dinner and pass out in bed.

The other thing I can tell you from experience is that the internet was either sloooooooooow or down quite a bit of the time. My husband was greatly frustrated by it and said it was almost a deal-breaker since he works nearly constantly, even on vacation. After seeing the trouble he was having, I didn't even bother trying to get online. If you are struggling to send a large file onboard, it is best to go to the internet cafe onboard and do it from one of the computers there.

Let me point out that Europe does have quite a few Starbucks and also there are many other places such as cafes and restaurants with free WIFI. Google the city name and free WIFI to find options.

Thanks for that link!! 19.99 unlimited seems like a really good deal, it may be slow but it wouldn't matter if it's unlimited ( for the average user)

  5. You are assigned locations based on your cabin location, you don't have to wear your life jacket, or even a shirt if you don't want too, can't say much about the line ups for embarkation, we have always walked right on, been lucky

  6. The inside passage has amazing southbound currents, we call it the cruise ship race track, if watching one vessel going north and one going south, you will notice the southbound vessel is sailing twice as fast, we believe this is caused by the overwhelming urge of cruise line to pick up the "fresh money" waiting on the other end, ( FYI this statement is false)

  7. I think what the OP is doing is a very beautiful gesture, their friend would be crazy to not accept such an offer, I suppose the delivery of such a gift would dictate her response, best of luck OP. Enjoy your cruise no matter what.

  8.
I think that's a great idea if she would use the robe if not how about some sun tan oil or something themed to your cruise ports.

Just some info check out Tj Maxx or Marshalls for great deals on luggage. I love my new 4 wheeled luggage.
We have always talked about bringing the robes home, I think she would use it, if not I know I will lol

  9.

So far no negative thoughts on this make me think I'm making the right choice in delivery, thanks to all that have posted so far, and iimmie don't get rid of those singles just yet[emoji6]

SOLARARC you are on the right track. I would skip the robes, but some AAA books/maps of where you are going along with the E-Doc's. If you want to fill the suitcases, you could put some balloons in it.

Good Job. My DH surprised me with a Suite upgrade 5 years ago on NCL Jade to Europe. We booked a balcony room and I was thrilled to be going to Europe, a dream that I thought we would never see. NCL called him with a Suite upgrade and he took the GREAT deal but kept it a secret from me. DH had been communicating with other CC members that we had booked tours with so they were in on the surprise.
I was so confused as to why we were taken out of line in front of other cruisers and checked in. Then we were sent to a nice room with food to wait for boarding. Thankfully the CC members we met online had booked a suite and were in the room too. I wanted to bolt because I knew NCL made a mistake and my DH kept saying "It is OK, NCL is just thinning the other check in lines or something". Then sweet CC member Linda said, "Oh they see we are connected for excursions so it is OK, you are with us. I was very anxious. Then came "Jeeves" the butler to escourt us to the ship. People below us were yelling "Hey why do they get to get on the ship?" I shrugged and said "I don't know!" I am SO confused by this time and almost near tears and I am a planner. DH stayed behind me and didn't say a word.
Jeeves, (sorry I forgot his name) opened the Suite door, I didn't see that the room had the sign that said "Jade Suite" on it. I walked into the room and thought hmmm, we must sleep on the sofa, then I saw the dining table and the coffee maker and went WOW! Then Jeeves takes me into the bathroom and DH just stayed behind watching the show unfold. The bathroom Holy Smoke! 2 sinks, a tub with TV overlooking the ocean, shower, etc. Then Jeeves pointed to the bed, A full King sized bed in a separate room. (there was also a second bedroom to be seen later).
I must have looked like a crazy woman, I looked at DH and gave the "whats up" look, he said 3 words, "Honey I upgraded". I CRIED, not sweet little tears, but full UGLY cry. DH has never kept a secret from me and I lost it. We were met CC members a few minutes later at Cagneys for lunch and I couldn't talk, I just cried. It was a special trip for us, a celebration of marriage and recovery from an 18 month health care issue. What a cruise! What a memory! What great CC members that we sailed with, Linda, Lyle, Maria, Roberto, Chris and Jennifer. You can meet some mighty nice folks on CC.
That's an amazing story, glad he was able to keep it together and surprise you in such a nice way. Well done

  10.
If you have access to your wife's my NCL account you should change her email to yours. As soon as you book, it triggers an email and your surprise could be ruined.

    Sounds great though, very sweet!
Great advice, luckily I have had that done since our first cruise, I just have to keep an eye on the snail mail for any spoilers
