  1. I was looking at the menus posted, I'm thinking of a ubp challenge, I wanna try every drink on the menus. Doesn't mean I will drink it all if I don't like it. I feel like I'm always drinking the same drinks with this free promotion....I'm up for the challenge !

  2. If passengers feel 18% is going to impact them, they are welcome to dine in the buffet, I'm sure you will find a nice window table, personalized service, tranquility and what's 18% on Free? Or maybe they could have one less cocktail during the day freeing up more than enough for this new gratuity, and perhaps making them less obnoxious

  3. I have been here since the Board started. Anyone who knows me knows I couldn't give a rat's arse what anyone else has to say about me LOL

I really don't have a problem with the Freestyle deck :) I do have a problem with the foreigners in tight speedos though ;)

This will be my last post about this issue on this thread as to not hijack it, as per Jan of NCL,yesterday the freestyle sun deck has now been "closed" to topless or nude sunbathing, I was advocating in a joking manner to open it back up

  4. Just got off the Gem and the list from Jade have the same spots for smoking. I took quite a bit of abuse on deck 7 and in the Casino from non smokers. I did not engage, just ignored them and kept smoking where i was allowed.

Because you were in the correct area those people didn't have a leg to stand on! Good for you for not engaging them. These are the same pissy people that have nothing better to do than complain about their rights over others. I had a female passenger as an enemy right at embarkation for the whole 7 days on my last cruise because my room was called first to board, first to be seated in il Adago, and first at the muster drill. She made snarky remarks every time I seen her and also made it known that my daughter wasn't a pleasant sight in the suite areas because kids didn't belong. And after all that wanted a tour of my suite, I slammed the door in her face and said pissy green eyed women are not welcome!

  5. After a Cagneys lunch, for some reason I feel compelled to find our muster station and have a beer, sometimes I'll have a few and still be there when the drill starts, but now that I have a 2 year old my old habit is dead in the water, so for now it's finding a nice quiet spot to color until our suite is ready with a nice glass of juice

  6. From ncl website

What about smoking on the ship?

As the health and well-being of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance, Norwegian Cruise Line will institute changes to its smoking policy for all sailings on or after November 1, 2014. The specific changes prohibit smoking on stateroom balconies and limit smoking in the casino to players. On Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, smoking on The Waterfront will be permitted on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas.

Guests in the Garden Villas may smoke in their private garden and on their private sun decks.

Public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free. If you smoke regular or electronic cigarettes, you can do so in designated areas only. If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Smoking cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes is permitted in outdoor public guest spaces and open decks where designated by the ship's management based on the ship's specific characteristics and arrangement. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is prohibited in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues, The Haven outdoor areas and children's pool areas. On ships with The Waterfront, smoking is permitted on the starboard side excluding any food service areas. Active Casino players may smoke cigarettes in the Casino during gaming hours. Cigarette smoking is not permitted in any other indoor venue or location.

Guests are not permitted to smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars or pipes in their staterooms or on their balconies. Cigar and pipe smoking in staterooms and on balconies is prohibited. Smoking inside your stateroom or on your balcony will result in a $250 cleaning charge added to your onboard account. If cigarette burns on furniture, linens, towels or carpeting are detected; guests will be advised and charged for the damages.

Electronic cigarettes cannot be used in public areas where there is a No Smoking policy in force; simply because these cigarettes look so realistic and therefore other guests' perception is that we are not enforcing the No Smoking rule.

Thanks, but I was referring to the blanket "designated smoking areas" outside of those listed in the policy specific for each vessel.

  8. You have certainly got me thinking Rochelle, you have raised a very good point of view, I am curious to read what Jan will come back with on this. Either way I will continue to cruise on NCL because I do believe in their vacation model, I really hope with the new top brass they don't try to change a business model that is very successful and even emulated by other lines and alienate the loyal consumers

  9. If someone will pose this question in a clear concise manner and just state the facts you want to know about..I will be happy to get a correct answer for you..

Hi Jan, are passengers who have received the UDP as part of the current promo billed this new 18% gratuity? Furthermore are specialty restaurant staff part of the normal DSC?. What is the motivation behind so many increased charges in the last few weeks?

  10. Thanks for the info. We will be on the starboard side so I was thinking we would just go somewhere on the ship to see the Napali coast sail by. I will definitely check out the Waikiki bar for this!

My apologies we had a starboard side balcony, so same situation as you
