Although I underline it wherever possible that we compare ships, not mythical "HAL" vs "Celebrity", I have to underline another thing: HAL philosophy and ethical values have been far ahead of Celebrity. They are a century ahead now.

Can you please explain the HAL philosophy and ethical values that you mention?

Agreed. I would love more explanation of this statement. I know you're not referring to smoking policy. :classic_laugh:

  2. We went on the Bliss June 9-16th and personally it was the best vacation we've ever been on. We've done Carnival, Celebrity, Princess and Royal Caribbean and my in-laws who were with us have also done Holland many times and they agree, best ship ever. It was amazing. We NEVER had to wait for drinks, never felt crowded in the restaurants and felt comfortable the whole time. Yes, you have to pre-plan things and when you get onboard quickly book Prohibition the musical (it sells out fast) and go-carts if you want to do it but that isn't a big deal. Also pre-book speciality dining. Those are the only real big things. We had a blast. We had our 3 year old with us and the kids club was AMAZING! Theme nights every night, full decorations, activities and they put on a circus with all the kids. Never saw a kid who didn't look happy! We've been home a few days and our daughter keeps asking to go back to kids club and her "high bed". The night time activities were great for adults, lots of game shows, good people, fun theater shows, comedy shows and just a good time. The club always went till 2AM and a group of us would then end up at the pub and just having a blast around the ship. Stick with the bliss, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Very interesting. I went to the NCL forum and did a search for Bliss and nothing came up about the Holland America forum. What CC search engine were you using? Lots of posts about the Bliss on NCL - you may want to think about posting your enthusiastic review there too instead of just lurking on the NCL website - that way you could more directly help those specifically looking for NCL ships.
katmmoore, thanks for sharing your opinion. please ignore the negativity of other posters. some people have nothing better to do.
  3. Since when is avoiding sugar and refined flour unhealthy? Countless studies are supporting a "smart" low carb diet as far superior to the low fat refined crap that has been pushed on us for decades - you can about see the "hockey stick" effect in US weight gain from when the US started pushing low fat diets.

Huh? Nobody said avoiding carbs is unhealthy. I think the point was that a low carb option is not necessarily a healthy option. The OP mentioned ordering a burger (no bun) with extra mayo, and our comments were in response to that.

  4. Ok, we are just off the Getaway yesterday (12/11). As other posters said much of what you had stated is wrong. The waterfront area is wonderful and quite most of the time. Yes, several of the the restaurants have outdoor seating out there but it was little used most of the time. The main pool was crowded but the Spice H20 area, while not a pool, is great. Hot tubs and the water feature were very relaxing. Burn the Floor and Million Dollar Quartet are both free and very good shows. There is also nearly always music in the evening in Sugarcanes and Groove international plays the Atrium and other areas and were very versatile (motown, reggae, dance hits, etc.) Howl out the moon is also free and good in Headliners. Great snorkeling in Roatan, and there will likely be a snorkeling excursion added to Harvest Caye by the time you sail, you have to remember the island only opened 2 weeks ago. Our sailing was full and the only time the ship felt crowded (other than the main pool) was disembarking yesterday morning in Miami. Relax!

How was the new cast in Million Dollar Quartet?
