  1. You can reserve comedy once on the ship. Whether or not the shows are different depends entirely on the comedians who happen to be on your cruise and what type of material they have. Most will tell you at their first show if it will be all new stuff at subsequent shows.

The dueling pianos isn't really a "show", but live music in a bar, exactly like your Howl at The Moon in Chicago. People are coming and going all the time.

So no reservations for dueling pianos I take it?

And here I thought this post was going to be about a musical group called "Pink Carpets". Or a drink.

I didn't even notice the carpets. If you discover once you are on board that they are blindingly offensive to you, you could always wear sunglasses. Or get a wheelchair, close your eyes, and have a travelling companion push you quickly through the offending areas.

I would rather be on a cruise with puke-colored carpets than sitting at my desk in my office at work any day. :)

Of course! I never suggested otherwise.

  3. I'm sailing on the Getaway early next year. In anticipation, I've been looking at pictures and videos online. I'm very excited! The ship looks shiny and beautiful. My only complaint from what I've seen is the ample use of hot pink carpets in public areas (seems to be concentrated in stairwells and elevator bays). Not my color of choice! Is it as loud and off-putting in person as I think it is online? And don't give me any grief over this post- it isn't a major concern and won't make or break my cruise- I'm just making conversation. :D

  4. Here's my take: I don't care. It's doesn't make the ship sail any more different that any other ship. Oh, wait, maybe Pepsi foots the painting bill that's why there's no carry on Coke.

Really? The paint doesn't affect the way the ship sails?

In all seriousness, nobody really cares-- it's just a fun discussion. I seriously doubt the Hull Art would be a deal breaker for anybody.

  5. Just booked my first Norwegian cruise on the Getaway. I keep reading that the Escape is better, but it wasn't offering the itinerary I wanted. Anyway, did you like the Getaway? I'm a little nervous about the smaller balconies, but I figure there is so much going on that I won't want to stay in my cabin that much anyway. Thanks.

  6. I'm trying to figure out the show options on the Getaway and am a little confused. Could someone please list the shows by A) which ones you can reserve pre-boarding, B) which ones you can reserve but not until you're on the ship, and C) which ones you cannot pre-book in any way. Thanks!
