It arrived late this morning due to the search at sea last night. Do we know officially that they also had a mechanical problem, and what type, delaying departure even more? Not just "hearsay" but official news?

They announced full clearance at 8:20PM so now just a pilot to go, and away they go

First reports indicated that the Oosterdam picked someone from the water.

According to my friend who had been onboard this past cruise they did not find the ship, and thus did not take anyone onboard.

The ship arrived around 11:30AM today several hours late. A friend of mine on board on that cruise said that the Coast Guard last night asked the ship to look for a ship in distress. They looked for 5 hours but found nothing. When it became light planes could take over the search so the Ooterdam sailed for port, but arrived very late. It was a mess for people with flights. Luckily my friends flight had been rescheduled for the afternoon so he could make it.

It is now 7:30 PM, 3 1/2 hours after scheduled sailing and it is still tied up. I am not sure if that is due to the late arrival still, or is it some other problem which some indicated on this board.

I have been trying to get on to the RCCL website for 24+ hours and it says it is on vacation. Does this happen often? Does anyone knw why it is out or when it will come back?

I wouldn't put to much into this post as it is a first time post and the OP hasn't responded to your questions......It looks like someone just trying to stir things up...

I am glad to see cynical and rude people are still around. If you want to know why "the OP hasn't responded to your questions" I travel about 150,000 miles for work per year, work long days and unlike some people (you) have a life outside of being cynical on boards. I presume that is language you understand.

Two years ago I had booked and deposited for a Med cruise. About six months before they canceled and repositioned the ship. I just received an e-mail that they have now canceled another cruise I had booked and deposited for November, 2016, due to another repositioning of the ship. Totally unacceptable that they confirm reservations and then twice within two years cancel. If I re booked another cruise on the same ship within a few month period they would give me a $50.00 on board credit. Ridiculous.

Do many people have the experience of NCL canceling? I have been cruising over 50 years and have only experienced this on NCL. Very unprofessional.
