  1. We've done it twice, round trip NYC (well, Brooklyn). Once in August where we had fabulous summer weather all but one day; the second time in July where it rained every single day. You never know what you are going to get crossing the Atlantic. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

  2. Hi All

We have limited choice of suites on an October 2018 cruise aboard the Riviera to the Med.

Should we opt for suite 11078 or 11081 which are above the Terrace Cafe or suite 11005 or 11009 which are quite far forward.

We do not like the overhang from deck 12 as we make a lot of use of our balcony. We are worried about noise from the public area above the suites. Also having limited mobility are again worried if we pick a forward suite it will be a bit of a hike to the Terrace Cafe where we hope to dine frequently.

    Many thanks for your help

If you are doing to do this cruise no matter what, I would grab 10078 or 11081 and then just check every day to see if anything else opens up. That's what I did for our upcoming cruise and was able to get 10030. People make changes all the time. Good luck!

  3. We will be disembarking the Oceania Marina on November 2, 2018 in Civitavecchia. The best flight out of Rome leaves at 12:45 pm. Given the distance to the airport in Rome and that the cruise states that disembarkation begins at 8:00 am, do you think we would be able to make that flight home? The later flight is at 2:45 pm but on Alitalia and given their bankruptcy troubles not sure I want to book that flight. Thanks for any help.

We made this flight a few years back. She ship docked on time, we were off the ship before 9 and made it tot he airport in plenty of time. In this instance, I would chance it. BTW, we flew into JFK.

  4. In the past, we have always booked second seating. 8:30 is just too late so now we book either PG or Brittania Club. Normally, we like to eat around 7:30 so this works best for us. Otherwise, I would be at the spa from 6-7 then back to the room to get ready and then to the Chart Room for a cocktail before dinner.

  5. I have asked our Travel Agent to book us on the Vancouver -New York segment tomorrow when bookings open up for previous cruisers. We will only need to fly one way to Vancouver since New York is our home port. The itinerary looks wonderful!

  6. We've sailed in 7114 on the Nautica and our Aunt was in 7116. The cabin is exactly the same as any other Category A, but the veranda is deeper.

By deeper I mean that the distance from the outer cabin door to the railing is about 12 feet, as opposed to the five feet of a typical "side of the ship" veranda. The Width of the veranda is exactly the same as any other A cabin, so it is a narrow, deep veranda.

About 60% of those verandas are shaded by the overhang of Deck 8.

The views from the back of the ship are stunning.

Thanks Jim! We actually ended up taking 6090, the verandah of which I think might be a little deeper. Our cruise is a transatlantic (Rome to Miami) so I think this cabin in the end will be perfect.

  7. We were on the 2/2/18 14 night sailing on the Breakaway. Our final payment was 10/4 (before the new itinerary was released), so we canceled and booked a 14 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Oceania Rivera. Yes, we do have to fly but I wasn't willing to roll the dice on an itinerary we weren't interested in. I'm happy with the decision. We'll be back to NCL in January 2019 to the Southern Caribbean I think. If you are before final payment, there are other choices. I feel bad for those that are after final payment ....

  8. I absolutely love those shoes, but for that dress I would go with a strappy sandal. I'm wondering if you tried on the shoes with the dress, will the bling on the back of the shoe would get caught on the bottom of the dress. I would wear those shoes with a cocktail dress though, for sure.

  9. We just booked an A-1 extended aft cabin 7116 for the Rome to Miami transatlantic in August 2018 on Sirena. I am trying to decide if we should move up to PH 2 or 3 for the extra space which does sound appealing but the larger balcony for the transatlantic might be better. Has anyone sailed in 7116 or the equivalent and if so, can you weigh in? Thank you!

  10. Extend one cruise and do what for the rest of its schedule? Reduce the next cruise by one or two days? Maybe change the dates on all the cruises for that ship by a few days?

Imagine all the problems people would have as far as hotel and airline reservations and vacation schedules which for the most part are made well in advance and in some cases cannot be changed.. Better to cancel a cruise or change the itinerary since a date change for one may start a snowball rolling that would affect all the following cruises..

I don't see them extending any of the cruises either. The cost would be astronomical. I am on one of the 14 day itineraries 2/2/18 and am seriously thinking about cancelling. My final payment date is in 3 weeks and I would really like to know where we are going. I see us not going to Tortola or St. Marteen, 2 of my favorites. I don't want to do the western and I can't see us getting to the ABC islands, it's just too far. I am looking at a 14 night Southern itinerary on another cruise line. Yes we have to fly but we won't lose any outdoor days either going down or coming back so there are advantages to that. Plus we can spend a few days in Miami before the cruise.

My heart goes out to the people on the islands affected, the change in itineraries affects them more than us.

  11. I'm pretty sure we are going to have at least 3-4 ports changed on our 14 night eastern sailing in February. Don't know what they will be changed to yet and my final payment is October 5th. We've been to the Western a couple of times (not my favorite) so at this point, I am pretty sure we are just going to cancel and fly to Miami and do a 14 night southern caribbean on another cruise line.

  12. Me, my wife, our son, and my mother just booked a 14 day Eastern Caribbean cruise about 5 weeks ago. It is set to leave in NY and visit about 8 islands including, St. Thomas, St. Marten, Tortola. Puerto Rico, and others. We were really looking forward to going, but after the images and video of the hurricane, we just don't want to go. It's depressing enough to see on TV and we know that, realistically, those islands wont be close to anywhere near ready and in their normal condition come February.

We love cruising, but if we are going to go, it wont be that one. At this point, we're thinking about settling for a 7 day Bermuda.

We are on this sailing as well. I have been looking at one alternative only (not the Caribbean) but I am not cancelling yet. We've done Bermuda a number of times, you will definitely enjoy it!
