  1. 8 quarters per wash, 8 per dry. :)

Thank You! This is information I personally had been wondering about, am planning to sail on the Golden Princess 04/17/2016 on a 2 night cruise between 2 State Capitals-Melbourne for embarkation and Sydney for disembarkation.

With your generosity in sharing that information, I now know to get some quarters when I get my US currency! Great help, I'd been wondering about the cost of laundry, have no problem doing it myself, just not sure of the price.

  2. honestly the only time this is consistently enforced is Spring Break time.

the larger ships with the Coke Freestyle machines can be a blast. you jsuthave to buy the mug with the chip.

Does anyone know if the Golden Princess has a Soda Fountain? I'm learning such lots from reading, and enjoying my cruise countdown to paying the deposit, then it really starts!

  3. We have not had one of these "what to bring" threads in at least a week. Do a CC search - there are hundreds of these threads. Each of these "just in case" threads usually have hundreds of item on it so if you bother to look at them, you will end up brings a couple of suitcases full of useless "just in case" junk.

The answer to your question is to bring no "just in case" stuff. Whatever you do not have you can buy. You won't need the stuff anyway.

The known exception in my personal opinion due to disability, is spare prescription glasses. I have both regular and sunglasses, and this year I will get a second pair of prescription sunglasses, even though I do have a good sun hat, I personally find prescription sunglasses control the sun glare and I focus better. With only 10% eyesight due to Legal Blindness, that's rather important to me, but respect that other people have different priorities for themselves.

  4. Hi all, just wondering if any fellow Princess Cruisers know the cost of a Princess Transfer from Melbourne Airport to Station Pier?

    Thanks in Advance

When I do my Tester Cruise, depending on my interstate flight to Melbourne, this may be an option for me. THANK YOU!

Should I estimate a similar amount for the transfer to Sydney Airport please?

I'm learning such lots of useful information. Once I actually pay my Cruise Deposit, I shall organise my Countdown here on the Forum. Current planned date for payment is January 24, 2015 which is 1 calendar week short of 15 months before I board the Golden Princess for a 2 night cruise Melbourne-Sydney.

  5. We recently cruised on the Caribbean Princess and were disappointed with a few things. This one was the most ridiculous. We requested robes for the 4 adults that were sharing one cabin. (Girls' getaway!) We had the best laugh at how pitifully small they were. Here's a picture of my sister, who is 5'1" and 110lbs, in the robe that Princess provides. Thanks for the "Heads Up" about the robe sizing. I shall NOT be putting a robe on my souvenir shopping list. Far more practical would be a ship's logo mug!

  6. Very interested in this one.

Here is the information I've found in the back of the 2015 Alaska & Canada Brochure-09/09/2015 Inside Passage (10 nights); 09/19/2015 Hawaii, Tahiti & New Caledonia (28 nights); 10/18/2015 New Caledonia & Vanuatu (10 nights); 10/2082015 Sydney-Melbourne (2 nights); 10/30/2015; New Caledonia & Vanuatu (13 nights); 4 consecutive cruises of 13 nights each to New Zealand, the 12/21/2015 is over Christmas/New Year; 01/03/2016 Tasmania (7 nights); 2 more trips to New Zealand; o2/02/2026 Tasmania (7 nights); 2 more trips to New Zealand; 03/08/2016 New Caledonia & Vanuatu; (14 nights); 03/22/2016 New Zealand (13 nights); 03/03/2016 unknown cruise destination, not in my brochure but available at http://www.princess.com where I also found 03/17/2016 Melbourne-Sydney (2 nights) then a 28 day cruise to Japan. This is all the information I have available, hope it helps someone

  7. Hi Mr Bigshow, which cruise have you booked. We have booked a Pacific Jewel cruise, have not cruised P&O Australia since the old Oriana in the 1980s. Have done P&O Uk and Princess, have booked a cruise on Jewel from Fremantle to Singapore because it was the itinerary we liked, bit nervous as a few people have said cancel it, especially as it is on its way to a refit, but we have booked a mini suite for the same price as a balcony on Princess so hopefully we will at least have plenty of room.

I originally planned to do a 3 night Melbourne-Adelaide cruise to test my ability to cope on a ship-multiple disabilities. I found a 2 night cruise Melbourne-Sydney on the Golden Princess in April 2016, which will give me more information seeking opportunities so I'm going with that.

    Enjoy your cruise everyone.

  8. Actually, it appears that the Golden might split time between Alaska in the Summer and Australia the rest of the year, sort of like the Diamond used to do between Alaska and Asia. She is leaving Sydney on April 19, 2016 and arriving back in LA on May 16, 2016. We might consider that cruise :)

Yes she is! I'm planning to do the 2 night Melbourne-Sydney Cruise berthing in Sydney 04/19/2016.

According to my cruise brochure, the Dawn Princess is based in Sydney, but cruises to Papua New Guinea; Fiji and South Pacific' Hawaii, Tahiti and South Pacfic; and New Caledonia and Vanuatu. Both the Sea and Sun Princesses also cruise from Australian ports-January 2015-March 2016 information available.

  9. You can buy the luggage tag (clear) holders from the onboard gift shop to use on your future cruises.

Thanks redtogo for the "heads up". I shall put that on my shopping list for my cruise April 17, 2016 from Melbourne-Sydney Australia. It's a planned Tester Cruise to see how I cope with the movement of the ship-I have mobility and vision disabilities. All being well, I get home and start saving for 2022, for my 60th self-birthday present. Sailing to Tasmania to meet a friend, and splurging on the Grand Suite on the Diamond Princess!

Learning lots of hints and tips from other cruisers, my notebook is getting RATHER full

  10. Apparently, speed was a factor. Sheesh! You can't drive at the same speed on wet roads as you do on dry roads and expect to actually stay ON the road. That accident looked horrific. The driver will have to live with that the rest of his life.

It's fortunate that there weren't 50 other passengers on board at the time. However, it's sad enough that even one person died :(

We take for granted that the people operating our shore excursions are properly trained, and will take good care of us. Sadly, this isn't always the case.

I hope the driver is given the chance to have their skills assessed, possibly with more training. They have to live with the knowledge their actions caused the death of a colleague for the rest of their life. I hope training for staff is reviewed and implemented where necessary to prevent something like this happening again.

  11. Don't know about America but in Australia, they won't let you pre-book them unless you have booked flights with them. But once arriving at the airport, if you approach the Princess representative waiting for pre- booked passengers, they will let you on the bus and charge your on-board account. When returning, you can take a princess transfer as they give you that option on board ship.

Thank You! I am planning to take a 2 nighter Melbourne, Australia-Sydney Australia cruise 04/17/2016 and want to take the Princess transfer from the ship to Sydney airport. Coming from a regional town, I must travel to Melbourne and stay overnight to embark, so I would only need the transfer in Sydney.

I have gained a wealth of knowledge by reading the different posts. Thank You again!

  12. Thank you for the updated information! I had a good read, and it might be a Pina Colada on Embarkation night, then stick to Mocktails, with 5 choices and Coke I should have plenty of choice.

I had already guesstimated $10 a cocktail, I was a bit generous. Those Mocktails look very interesting! I shall enjoy sampling!

    Enjoy your cruise!

  13. Thank you. This gives me a good pricing foundation to calculate costs for my Tester Cruise in Australia-04/17/2016 sailing Melbourne-Sydney. I will budget a 20% increase on those prices, unless I find current ones. to make the calculation whether I buy a Soda and More Package. I don't remember if the cocktails Pina Colada and Fluffy Duck were mentioned, but I can just price the most expensive cocktail as a guideline.

I also found a most helpful review on a Disabled Accessible Stateroom, well 2 reviews of different cabins actually, so decisions, decisions!

    Grateful for everyone's help.
