  1. We were on the Glory in March and I was kind of disappointed in the wine selection both in the bars and in the MDR. The main brand they carry is the Cupcake which I do not like at all. I never really found a good red wine after a week on the cruise but a few pino grigio's that were okay. They need to up their selections.

  2. We had one of these on the Glory in March, cabin 1004 which was a corner room. We loved this room and on this floor you do not have to keep your curtains closed at night because it is above the bridge not below. This cabin was huge, about the size of 2 normal size cabins. I did not notice any more motion that on deck 2 in a cove balcony which we had on the Dream last year. They are very private and the deck out front is the very best vantage point for views when pulling into ports. We liked it so much I snagged another one on the Dream for March 2017. These are my new favorite rooms and cheaper to boot.

  3. So I've bought Cheers for the first time for our upcoming cruise.

What's the community opinion if I stumble down at 7am to get specialty coffee for myself and my wife.. and take both of our cards. Will they give me 2 for me to take back to the cabin???

Technically they are not supposed to but some will and some will not. If you have been going to the same bartender or coffee bar together and they recognize you they will. It pays to go to the same person.

  4. The Dream is scheduled for drydock from January 29- February 11, 2017. There are no cruises scheduled in this time frame.

    Dry Dock Maintenance Schedule

    Dry Dock: 9/08/12-9/22/12

    Dry Dock: 1/29/17-2/11/17

  5. So I was really playing around and looking at cruises for March of 2018 because it is $48 deposit. I came across a scenic ocean view and since I had heard they are hard to come by I put it on courtesy hold. I then go back to look and see how much more a balcony would be for same sailing and just happen to go back to ocean view and a scenic grand ocean view was now available, for the SAME price as the scenic ocean view. I booked it as fast as my keyboard would let me! Is this a fluke that 1. It was even available and 2. Same price as scenic ocean view???

  6. We prepurchased on the Glory on March 5 sailing and they put the sticker on it when we got our second drink. Any of the bars can put the sticker on which really does not matter because when they scan the card it shows that you have cheers. But the line to purchase cheers on the ship was pretty long and now of course it is much cheaper to pre purchase. We bought it 5 days prior to sailing.

  7. So are there Carnival logo/ branded Tervis tumbles for sale in the fun shops? Maybe I got confused  with previous posts. :)

I would like a Carnival Tervis to add to our collection.

    Thanks!

There are Carnival Red Frog Rum Bar or Blue Iguana Tequila Tervis brand tumblers for sale at the bars but none in the gift shop that I saw.

  8. The cups they sell at the coffee bars for $8 are not Tervis they are just insulated tumblers. The Tervis are sold at the Red Frog Rum bar and the Blue Iguana Tequila bar. I bought one at the Blue Iguana on my March cruise on the Glory for $13.00 and the lid was an extra $3 They are the smaller Tervis I believe maybe 16 oz. I did not see them in the gift shop but was not really looking so they may have them.

  9. We also just returned from the Glory as well on the March 5th sailing. For us the wait staff and room steward along with all other staff were outstanding as always. As far as the new menu there was not really much of a difference and I actually thought there were more choices than before and the food was excellent. I did not miss the table cloths like I thought I would it made no difference. I like how the bread and water are on the table although my water glass was kept full at all times and I did not have to fill it myself. I think it is all perspective and what you make of it personally. I do prefer the larger ships like the Dream but has nothing to do with staff just the way the ship is set up.

  10. On our last cruise we found some bartenders that we could get beer from and they not open them. We could not find any that would do that for us this time so we got the ones with the screw off lids so they would easily seal back. We bring along a soft side cooler and bring the beer on the beach days to drink so we do not have to purchase at Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk, etc. We also did this with vitamin water and regular water this time because they were included in the Cheers.

  11. Before the changes, the break even point for Cheers was 6 or 7 drinks. 15 drinks is a challenge, but not one you have to meet to break even. Under the changes, you can now ask for top shelf alcohol in any drink they mix for you rather than get the standard well alcohol. In your margaritas order Patron level tequila and Cointreau. In you vodka drinks order the most expensive vodka not the well version. Always order the highest priced alcohol for the drink you aare ordering. I also know there are some pretty high priced scotches, whiskeys, cognacs, etc. available. And you can order anything at the Alchemy bars and they are covered under Cheers.

You can actually get your break even point to one or two drinks if you really want to. Take your best shot and have fun. Plus you get all of the non-alcoholic stuff you want for free.

Even with the higher priced alcohol our drinks were under $12, I am wondering if they didn't even bother changing the price because it was covered. I know they poured the correct one because I watched...

  12. I'm so excited to hear a real-life experience!

I was thinking the specialty coffee drinks were part of the 15, but am happy to see it's 15 alcoholic drinks.

So, I could get a macchiato with no alcohol and still drink 15 shots throughout the day, right? I'm so excited about this!!

    Yes this is correct...

  13. What is a specialty coffee...like a "Spanish" coffee with alcohol in it..???? And where do you order one of these if that is what a specialty coffee is?

Specialty coffees included are all the cappuccino, frappuccino's, also the milkshakes. And yes the coffees with alcohol in them, they have several different choices. You can get them at the coffee bars or in the dining room.

  14. Are the coffee shops open all day long? And are they really busy since the change?

The coffee shops are open all day, I do not know the exact hours but on the Glory there was one on deck 5 and one on deck 9. At most there were 2 people in line every time we were there which was breakfast time. This may be because people have not figured out yet that it is included in Cheers not sure.

  15. Thanks' date=' Bill, I knew there had to be at least one drink that was over $50. They are basically trying to make the package unlimited, but don't want anyone to order fifteen $60 drinks

I know at the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar, there is a type of Patron that was around $15, and that is the most expensive I have seen. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but last year they changed the drink prices by about $.25 to $.50, which made top shelf martinis no longer available with Cheers. For example, Martinis used to be $8.95 and you could get a top shelf substitute like Grey Goose for $1. I don't remember what the current price was, but I know that it was just enough that we could no longer get the top shelf substituted[/quote']

We were doing shots of the highest shelf Patron they had and it was still under $12. My husband likes Brandy and the best they had was some type of VCOG Black, spelling may be wrong on that. Still not over $15. I wish they had the prices before Cheers on the printout they give you and I could be a little more specific but it just says $0 unless there was tax in ports. We did not go to the Steakhouse so not sure what they have there.

  16. Did you try substituting the well type liquor with top shelf in your mixed drinks? I've heard that counts as a single serving under $50. Instead of low quality tequila ask for Patron in your margarita for example?

Yes sorry I should have added that although the cost was the same on the print out when upgrading to the higher shelf for like shots or rum and coke etc.. But... if you order the drinks like the Red Rum Runner and things like that they are pre-mixed and they will not switch it out to a higher shelf other than what is listed on the menu.
