  1. Check your VIFP offers!!! I found a Casino offer that they never notified me about. Saved me $20 on a Balcony, upgraded Interior to OV for $10 and getting $50 casino cash on each room.

This seems to be a really good sale. We booked at Interline rate which is usually better than Casino, but lucked out this time... 15 minutes w/ my PVP ended up saving me $110

We sail in October and I can't find a Casino offer under my VIFP offers.

  2. …when we were scheduled to be the ONLY ship in port. And now…there are going to be several more ships in that small port on our new day…what if it’s already booked??!!

I followed your Magic review and loved it! Was so excited to see you doing another review!!!

I have a question about ships in port. How do you find out how many ships will be in a particular port on a given day? We don't have plans to sail on the Glory... YET... but we are booked on the Conquest in October and I'd like to find the same info on our ports.

Thanks so much for sharing your vacation! Loving your reviews! They make me laugh!!!! :D

  3. The hump balconies on Oasis are almost twice as big as regular balconies. Here are a couple of pics.

And just so you know, the entire partition is not remove, just the front portion of it. The smaller balconies with partitions removed will seem more like one big balcony because about half the partition is removed (on the hump balconies it amounts to only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the partition removed). Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for sharing your photos, I can see what you mean by extended balcony. Hmmmm, but now the dilemma. Three extended balconies that have more room but not so much of the open feel or three regular balconies that feel like one long balcony. Decisions, decisions... but those are the kind of decisions I enjoy worrying with, lol. :D

  4. They are to some people. On Voyager/Freedom/Radiance class, they are conveniently located near the elevator lobby. The location of the balcony extending out from the side of the ship gives a more dramatic view.

Wow, that's really great to know! I know there are some who say that the room isn't important because you're not in there much anyway but to me, the room is important. When I'm in there, I want to be able to always enjoy the ocean views because during a cruise is pretty much the only time I ever get to enjoy them!

  5. Yes, it's possible to open balcony dividers on Oasis, subject to the approval of ship's management.

Thanks Bob! That makes my day! :) Do you know if approval has to be requested before the cruise or at guest services after boarding the ship?

We are SO excited about cruising on the Oasis, a year is just TOO far away!

  6. We have 3 couples planning to book ocean view balcony rooms next year on the Oasis. It looks like we can open the balcony dividers on 2 of the cabins but we would really love to have it opened up on all 3 cabins. I love to read cruise blogs and I've read where multiple families opened up all their balconies but can't remember what cruise line they were on. Does anyone know if this is possible on the Oasis?

Thank you and Happy Cruising!!! :D

  7. We're looking at sailing on the Oasis next year. We've sailed with Carnival the last couple of years (with the exception of two 3-day cruises on RCI's Majesty) and I've become familiar with Carnival's Early Savers Rate. If the price drops and your stateroom category is still available, you can submit a form for the reduced price. Does RCI have anything similar?

Thanks so much and happy cruising!!!

  8. Your OBC from Friends and Family voucher are not affected by changes in rate or changes in fare. OBC received from a promotion can be effected by changes in rate.

Thanks for the info. I wondered if the fact that the OBC was received from a voucher rather than a rate available to everyone would protect it.

  9. Thanks for the responses everyone. As this was my first time to have an Early Saver Rate, I was really excited to watch and snag the price drops as they came along! But oh well, I paid that price knowing it might stick and I really am super excited about experiencing an extended aft balcony for the first time. I'm just happy to be cruising! :D

Tree critter, I went ahead and called Carnival last night and the nice representative on the other end of the line said the same thing. She said don't stop checking because if someone cancels or upgrades and a room in our category opens up, then we'd be eligible for any lower prices at that time. So there is STILL hope, lol.

    Happy Cruising!

  10. Our October cruise rates on the Conquest dropped too but as of last week, all aft balconies are booked so we don't qualify. Since all balcony prices begin with the base balcony rate, you'd think we'd still qualify for the drop. This is our first experience with Early Saver and I was excited about the potential price drops I'm always reading about but I called Carnival and found out its by actual room category. This is also our first aft balcony so hope its worth it! We are excited about the extended balcony on the back of the ship. :D Still happy to hear about everyone else's savings though, I love a bargain. Next time we book a regular balcony, I better get a price break when prices drop, LOL.

    Happy Sailing!

  11. We're booked on a Carnival cruise for October and today, the prices dropped $30 per person for our stateroom. This is our first time booking early enough to qualify for the Early Saver rates. We also booked our first aft balcony. The balcony rate is the starting price and then $8.20 per day (for deck 7) is added to the balcony rate. However, there are no longer any aft balconies available. Does that mean we no longer qualify for the ES price decrease? I tried to fill out the form just to run it through Carnival to see whether we get a Yay or Nay but the form asks for the new rate which I can't get since the aft balconies are booked. We also received $100 OBC for booking within 60 days of friends who booked on their last cruise. Would we lose that credit if Carnival does approve our rate decrease?

Thanks for any help and happy cruising!

  12. I wouldn't be able to stay in a cove balcony as when I look out at the ocean, the lower the deck, the faster we seem to be going. When I am on a lower deck, even deck 4, it makes me nauseous looking at the water while moving so fast. I know it's weird, but that's what happens to me.

Hmmmm, that's an interesting thought. My husband is prone to motion sickness but has done great on our cruises so far. However, you have a point about being so close to the water while moving fast. I'm going to test that scenario on hubby during our next cruise before booking a cove. Thanks for the tip!

  13. Thanks so much for everyone's responses. I've really been enjoying hearing everyone's preferences and why. I've stayed in an inside room, a porthole room, an ocean view and our first balcony room last Sept. I have to say, I loved the balcony. This Oct will be our first aft - view balcony so we'll see how it compares. But as someone else said, as long as I'm cruising, it's all good!!!

  14. I am interested in hearing your opinions and comments on what's your favorite deck and why. Here is what our cruise family is wondering. Our cruise is already booked this year on the Conquest and we are staying on Deck 7 Empress in an aft-view balcony (excited :D). We are entertaining the thought of a Cove Balcony (Deck 2) on the Breeze for 2016. What is your experience with the different types of balcony rooms... cove balcony vs regular balcony vs aft-view balcony and what is your favorite deck for that stateroom? Suggestions / Comments please :)

  15. You can get the "refundable" OBC out at the kiosks too. And I too like the extra OBC by booking onboard. Just make sure you have all the information ready when you get to the FCD (cruise, date, rate type, cabin).

I've heard about the kiosks but had forgotten all about them and I've never used them so wasn't aware yoy could do more than check your sign and sail account balance. That's an easy way to use the credit. Thank you, great idea!

  16. You will have to give them a credit card to book it. It does not go on your sign and sail account. Also keep in mind if they have other promotions you may not be able to get early saver for your next cruise and then price reductions do not count. Be sure to ask about that if there is extra OBC offered.

Ok, I'll definitely keep that in mind. I love Early Saver rates and would hate to miss out on the potential to save a few bucks.

    Thanks!

  17. We're going on our 3rd cruise with Carnival this October. We've never booked a future cruise on the ship before but since we've already determined which cruise we're taking next year, we thought we would go ahead and book on board in order to receive $100 in OBC. For our upcoming cruise, we'll for sure have $400 in OBC and I'm hoping a little more if we're able to get some credits from Early Saver rate reductions. We always book our excursions before sailing, we've prepaid gratuities and we don't drink a whole lot so I was wondering if we have a remaining credit, can it be used towards the deposit on our next cruise?

    Thanks so much!

  18. I usually will e-mail the ship's Maitred and request our dinner table arrangements ahead of time. Sometimes they will e-mail me back and sometimes they won't but we usually have our table request granted.

What site do you go to that you are able to email the maitre d? I'd like to do the same for our next cruise.

    Thanks.
