Is there a limit to how many times you can book a specialty restaurant? I would book 3 or 4 nights if we aren't limited

Are those restaurants a lot better than the MDR? DH and I are cruising on our own for our 15th wedding anniversary and I'm happy to pay the up charge if the food/atmosphere is significantly better. Food is a big part of our vacation experience. We have never cruised RCL so we have nothing to go by.

Living in the UK, I thought that this was a joke, now I see that the question was deadly serious. And this in a week when a 2 year old shot dead his Mother in a Walmart. I just don't get it and never will.

In terms of price, does it make any difference whether you buy onboard or online?

I see you are from Canada ( me too!), I read on another forum that it is better for us to purchase online before the cruise. Apparently on the rcl website we are paying in canadian dollars and it will be cheaper than if we purchase onboard and have the current exchange rate

We are sailing on the oasis in May and I had just gotten used to the idea of dd. what are my options now? I'm so confused, never sailed rcl.

When you say the restaurant is 50% off day one only, does that mean booking and paying on day one and choosing a reservation sometime during the cruise or eating there on day one ?

Yes, this was the cruise that had to go back twice to Ft Lauderdale on December 6th. The first was for a fall and the second was for a natural causes death onboard. A guy was also arrested and taken off in handcuffs for domestic violence. The first trip only went back to the pilot and the second all the way back to the port where we stayed until after midnight. We did make all of our ports on time. It didn't effect the cruise at all. The ship just sailed faster. Obviously extra time is built in for issues that arise. This was the most eventful beginning of a cruise that I've ever had.

 

I don't have any of the western compasses but they didn't seem to change much since before the dry dock. I did this cruise in March of 2013 and Dec 2013 and everything appeared the same. This trip wasn't much different for me other than the first night.

 

I ate in the mdr 5 nights. Went to Chops for 1 formal night and the wind jammer for the other. I thought the food was very good in all of them but I eat anything that doesn't eat me. My waiter and asst waiter were excellent. I had the 6 pm seating.

 

3 things to pack that you might not think of are a light for the room in the middle of the night, a hi liter for the compass and 2 dollar bills to tip the room service and room steward people with in addition to the already included tips. It makes a significant difference in your cruise experience once they know you're the 2 dollar bill tipper.

 

I did not try Izumi but spoke to people who did and they enjoyed it. I thought the beds were comfortable. They have an egg crate on them that made them extra comfortable. The weather was great throughout the trip. A little windy 1 day but other than that, no issues at all.

I see that dazzles on oasis is two decks high. Just wondering if you are able to enter dazzles from deck 9.

It seems that for every trip we have taken the forecast calls for rain and each time it has been fine. I think it blows over quickly in the Caribbean too a quick heavy downpour and then it is done.sometimes if it is really hot and humid the shower cools things down a bit. I'm sure you will have a great vacation.

Oh my people you are on vacation let lose.If you want a fancy coffe get one. Whats the fun of paying for a vacation and then not enjoying it to the fullest?Thats why we dont have to take a cruise every other week.WE would rather take one every year or so.That way we can enjoy it to the fullest.:eek: You know spend a few days at a nice hotel before and after the cruise.Maybe a few specitaly resturaunts.Some drinks from the bar, some fancy coffe in the morning.You know just realax and enjoy yourself you are on vaction:)

I see where your initial thought came from but I think you should give the full amount. My husband and I are cruising in May and we will certainly create far less mess then if we have our children along. Your children's cruise price will reflect their age and how much food they will eat.

Yes they are. We requested the wine that we had at Chops and they had it available for us in the MDR next night. It's worth asking, I'm sure the response to the request may be different from manager to manager and from ship to ship.
