  1. I apologize for delay in reply... I appreciate your help. When I call Royal though they are completely clueless, which I don't understand. I feel they should atleast be able to tell me what this family needs to board their ships and what they will need to get off in ports. If they don't know, and it's their ships being boarded, then who else would...

  2. Guys I'm not from Jamaica, but have close ties in Jamaica... Outside the cruise gates around the corner is a gas station... Literally a few minutes to walk... Maybe 5min.... Get a taxi there and it's 1.50 each way to Burwood beach....anything directly from the cruise port is going to be more expensive. Just make sure before you get in taxi that you let them know it's 1.50...

  3. Wife and I will be on the Oasis Feb. 6. I do not enjoy laying out in the sun all day and she does. I am not that big on pools and she is. I prefer to just walk around the ship and take in the sights. How do you folks find other couple to go with you on your cruise that have the same interests? None of our friends want to cruise. I did sign up on the roll call. I have not signed up for the meet and mingle yet. How do you other couples handle this?

I think your wife and I would be on the same page and my significant other on the same page as you... lol... maybe we should talk......As a new couple that lives a distance from the other, we would love to meet new friends :)

  4. We are in an 2 bedroom Aquatheatre suite in January 2017 on the Harmony with 8 people and have potentially others joining us and I called Saturday to see how much the Presidential suite was for 14 people, It was 20,140. I thought this was a really GREAT price myself if many people are contributing to the cost and those over 21 have the ultimate drink package with anything they want and includes gratuities and unlimited specialty dining... all that is worth a lot, atleast for my group, but keep in mind that all that comes when the new Royal Suite Class rolls out, which isn't until May 2016 and only on Oasis and Quantam Class ships.

  5. What are your thoughts on A1 or A2?

I've not been in either, but I don't see how you could go wrong... We will be in an A2... I would have liked to of gone up to an A1, but just was a stretch for us from when we originally booked before the price drop...

    A2 739/695 sq ft

    A1 823/772 sq ft

I can see where it's not as luxurious as some of the other suites. I probably would think about booking an aqua suite if it were just me and significant other, but with big family, several couples and friends... To me the balcony is just amazing and best of both worlds with the he aquatheatre and sea...I'm thinking it will be everything I thought and more...

  6. On the Regent forum, there is a similar thread to this one, titled "the butler did it..." or something similar. DRIB posted the following reply:

Your butler can unpack for you when you arrive and re-pack for you when you go.

Your butler can arrange to have your pants let out, five days into the cruise, when they are too tight. You can also request that they follow you around the ship and slap the food from your hands when they think you've had enough.

Your butler can balance your checkbook within a few dollars, notarize documents for you, and give you wonderful, albeit unorthodox, legal advice.

Your butler can let you into your neighbor's cabin when they are not there, and help you to TP (toilet paper) their cabin. I know because I've done that. You can request a specific brand of TP - they will go out of their way to get you that brand, because this is Regent!

I heard of a butler that helped to slip a whoopee cushion under the captain's chair during the farewell dinner. And one time, in Monaco, the butler helped me call the Royal Palace and ask if Prince Albert was still in the can. We both had a good snicker from that one!

In short, your butler will do just about anything to make sure you enjoy your cruise. I highly recommend that you take full advantage of your butler if you have one.

Personally, we enjoyed the afternoon shrimp cocktail plate that our butler brought to our cabin, Largest shrimp I have ever eaten. Enjoy!

:D:eek: Lol... I am ROFL..... Vry funny... Thanks for this !

  7. We have been fortunate enough to enjoy the services of a butler on all of our cruises on Celebrity and Azamara.

We have enjoyed the butler services for many things including hosting cocktail parties where we have had appetizer platters to accompany the drinks, having clothes laundered/pressed, shoes shined/repaired, breakfast each morning we choose set up in the suite dining room waiting for us when we awoke, dinner reservations at specialty restaurants (or main select dining on Celebrity), and other things that I just cannot recall at the moment.

Of the many cruises we have enjoyed we have only encountered one butler (not Azamara) that was absolutely not suited for the job and we did not ask him for anything once we encountered his lack of service...and we conveyed our experience to his superiors and the line. We also were not the only guests that felt this way during that particular cruise. I believe he just was not trained properly nor did he enjoy his position as the first thing he said to me was how he hated the uniform he was forced to wear as he was wiping the sweat from his brow, I felt bad for him at that moment, little did I know that he also hated his job it seemed.

You will enjoy the butlers on Azamara no doubt as they do an outstanding job and will do just about anything you ask of them. We do not ask them to pack/unpack for us as it is listed in the services or any other housekeeping tasks and everything I listed above are things that have typically been offered before we even thought about asking.

That all being said, we do show our "gratitude" at the end of our cruise as we also do the stewards, but the tipping discussion has been discussed at nauseum on this site so to each his own.

Enjoy your cruise and your butler!:)

If anything else comes to mind as to some other things a butler does please share, thanks :)

  8. Isn't that the truth!

    Tom

Hey Tom... What did you find out about the A3 on Harmony??? sometimes ya know you can hear one thing from one rep and something else from another and then post and before long realize reps you spoke with were not correct, but I will say the conversation about the A3 was a long discussion when we tried to book and got passed around to everyone before I actually got on a conference call with a supervisor in inventory... Was interested in what you were told...

And, if there was anyone 7 other people I would sail with, my kids I think I could deal with ;):D:).... One of the few times to unplug with the world and just be with your family.... Unless you have free accessible wifi... I probably shouldn't of told them about that:rolleyes::rolleyes:

  9. I actually did sleep on the balcony in the ATS. I slept on the ocean side were it is dark, quiet and windy. It was GREAT! My DW thought I lost my mind, but I felt like a kid camping at the ocean.

The decks and living room become notably larger on the lower suites.

So since the rci motto for fhe royal genie "hour wish is my command" i wonder if they would bring a nice comfy mattress out there for me...;)

  10. wow you are lucky to get that price drop. Was there still an A2 showing online when you got the drop? (so you could see that it went down) or did you call and ask to reprice under the 30/30?

I do not remember if there was an A2, actually other posters were mentioning on threads there was a price drop...that was in june. I booked beginning of april originally, but i do call often to see if there migbt be another price drop :D. One can always hope...

  11. i do not know why there are no A3s either, but I spent a very long time on the phone with the inventory department as when I first jumped on the aqua suite I was given a price and then inventory realized that it is not just like sister ships... There are no a3s... All I can say is call if you are suppose to be in an A3, because there is no such thing on the harmony... Be prepared to be on the phone a long time

  12. For A1 deck 8 I think it was ~$4700pp for the first two, $699 pp additional. Port fees were around $109pp iirc

So it has gone way up. I calculated that the 8 person price that other poster mentioned had to be around $2800 pp for the first two.

    $10,670 - $880 port fees for 8 - $4200 3rd and 4th... and divide remainder by two.

A1 might be priced a little higher than an A2 to begin with.

I'm just guessing I'm the other poster ;)... I looked 1st & 2nd guest was $2908.22 and all 6 additional guest were at 809.22 for an A2 on deck 10

When we originally booked the price for 8 was 13,173, then the price drop with the 30/30 brought it down to that nice 10K price

A1 is more pricey due to biggest sq footage inside and balcony of all the Aqua suites

A2 today priced out at 14,143.32 for 8 people... So has increased around $3500

In the end pays off for us as 6 of 8 contributing towards cabin... 6 of 8 don't have to worry about how much we drink now, no grats, nor are we looking at a 400 plus bill to go out to one specialty dinner... So for us definitely economical.
