Yes, the downward view is blocked by the roof of the lounge below on those deck 7 rear extra large balcony cabins as shown by the shots below. It's only the front extra large deck 7 balconies that have a clear view downward.
The lounge below on Serenade is called the Safari Club instead of the Colony Club but is the same type of lounge.
Above is view from most rearward deck 7 SB side balcony.
So, in your opinion, this isn't a very good balcony cabin?
-
Oh you have those staterooms. Same deal about the half rail. The problem with those to the aft staterooms on deck 7 is that you will have the roof of the Colony Club extending beyond your balcony, which will block your view down to the water.
They will be fine, they have a larger balcony with the half rail, but I don't particularly care for the roof obstruction. :)
Are you sure there is an obstruction and can't see the water...getting completely getting mixed reviews of this cabin saying there is no obstruction and a great view. Are you talking about serenade? Haven't even heard of the Colony Club on there.... can you please clarify for me? Thanks

On the Nov 22 sailing and i just moved to deck 7 aft on serenade in 7666 & 7668...anyone had those cabins before? Never had a balcony before, bigger? Anything one should bring special for balcony since I've never had one?
-
You are correct, balcony dividers cannot be opened on Radiance class.
I'm glad your on this thread Bob..... I feel you can probably answer just about anything :)... did I make a mistake getting cabin on 7th deck? I didn't have time to look up information before making a decision.. but have read there's alot of noise because of everything below on deck 6.. your thots? Is the balcony on these 2 cabins bigger than most? Someone did say that... I cn tell myself.... if it had been you would you have upgraded from where we are to here?
-
Probably a silly question but how do you knkw what all forums are out there to look at? Like ports , new cruisers, ports....is there a place that list the different forums? Maybe I'm missing something I might like to see or not think of...thanks!

Your outside cabins were 169 sq ft and your balcony cabins are 162 sq ft with a 51 sq ft balcony. As the E balcony cabins are connecting you may have a chair in each instead of a loveseat.
I would take the balcony over the Oceanview any day.
Chair instead of love seat? How do I know if I have E balcony?
-
The original staterooms you were in are 169 sq. ft and the new ones are 162 sq. ft. plus a balcony. The standard balcony is 51 sq. ft., but the location you are in has larger than standard balconies. Both staterooms are appointed similarly and clearly the sizes are very similar. I think the biggest advantage of your move is the resulting balcony, which is our preference and something I think you will enjoy.
Serenade is a great ship - enjoy your cruise and your new staterooms.
Thanks so much! These are adjoining rooms, can you tell me if the balconies are also adjoining?

Due to another poster letting those know many had cancelled on our Nov 22 sailing out of NOLA we were able to move from 4044& 4048 large Oceanview to 7666 &7668 balcony cabins... WOOHOO :)! I have been doing the happy dance! Wondering besides the given that there is balcony are there any other differences between cabins? Are the balconies fairly big? Cabins bigger than previous suppose to be in? I sure hope this is a good cabin... as I wouldn't know the difference as those that are more experience avid cruisers...
Thanks, Stacey

Hello all...... I do not know how to go about checking price drops. I booked thru a TA.... I hear alot of talk about all the bonuses you get booking with a TA; specialty dinner, OBO etc...we didn't get any of that... I have been asking about an upgrade to a balcony as my health may limit me to do much away from my cabin at times and may not be able to get off ship at ports and I thought sitting outside on balcony would be a nice way to relax when those time arise. I was willing to pay more just to have this luxury... my TA first told me it would be $400 to upgrade so I told her to go ahead and do it and then she came back and said it would be $2400., which I didn't take... since I have TA, royal won't even discuss with me cost of upgrade. I don't know if my TA is proactive to help me or if I just have to do it myself and if so how do I check this out for myself? I don't know if my TA is doing all she can for us and not sure what I am even suppose to expect from my TA if anything.. maybe I want to much? I don't want to keep bugging her about it, but would like to have opportunities it to get balcony if reasonable... given I haven't cruised in 13 years I don't know even what is reasonable for upgrade if anyone would like to share... thanks in advance everyone :)

There are a lot of fun things to do on Grand Cayman. We've done the stingrays, fun and interesting. We've gone to the turtle farm, fun and so cute. We've done circle island tours. And there's Hard Rock and Margaritaville. This last time we did a bus tour to lots of places and ended up having coconut shrimp at Margaritaville. You'll have a blast matter what you do.

My son is 20 and girlfriend 19...would they be able to go in casino and gamble a little for fun?

Apple juice and regular orange juice are included. You can have freshly-squeezed OJ for an additional charge.
Thanks Karen.... oh..and is that only at breakfast in mdr?
-
There are specials (ultimates) each day for breakfast in the MDR...... one is chocolate!
Can you tell me at breakfast can you have apple or orange juice free of charge? I was looking under the juices and beverages on the menu, didn't know if that was included or something additional you had to pay for...

Also on sail away at that time do we need to dressfor cool weather or summer? In november leaving from new Orleans will pools be open to need to pack swim wear for carry on?,

Do they often have 2 for 1 drinks on serenade?

How long does online check in take and what all is involved?

Yes, contact the Hotel Director on board the ship.
Sir could you please tell me how to reach hotel director?

Thank you for the explanation and I agree with you; OP was (understandably) vague about the reason and of course this can lead to speculation. The stalker/nuts comments were uncalled for. But OP also needs to know how the "order of things" works, and her question was answered here in this thread.
OP, I hope you have a nice family cruise. :)

.
Order of how things work? I thought cruise critic was to ask questions and that is how you learn...I was vague because I didn't feel others really needed to know story behind it.

When you ask for help without describing exactly what you want, you can end up getting faulty results. Given your circumstances, you should direct your enquiry to either Guest Relations (onboard or in Miami) or the Hotel Director. The Captain would most probably not respond to a request like this (he may not even see it, depending on how much he relies on his secretary)(and not saying he wouldn't accept), but things to do with hospitality should be routed through the Hotel Director, who meets with the Captain ever
Hotel director on sbip?
When is early and late dining on serenade please?

We moved to a balcony cabin yesterday and our late seating has changed for 830-8 and not sure why or if meal times have changed.
