  1. We just did this on Summit last week.  You cash in whatever amount you wish from your onboard credit at the desk for either slot machines or tables.  With the slot machines, you insert your card and follow the prompts and designate how much you want to play with at that time in that machine. Always remember to log out when you leave that machine. For the tables, you play with promo chips, and then, as others have said, what you win above those amounts, you can pocket. So I kept playing with my promo chips and we kept the winnings aside to cash in. We came out about even with $250 OBC by the end of our cruise.  I had pretty good luck with roulette.  The first dealer didn't tell me I could break down my $5 promo chips to $1 ones and spread them out, but the 2nd dealer I got was more helpful, so we could spread it around a bit more.  Roulette was minimum $5 bet and the outside choices were $5; inside single numbers were $1. I had fun with it. They would not let you bid on both red/green or odd/even, etc at the same time.

thanks for the replies..... we got the classic beverage package as a perk so all we want to do is upgrade one of them to premium, so the new $14 surcharge shouldn't apply...

It was not on mine when I put it in my checkout just this week for my Nov cruise which was booked months ago - I have the free Classic Pkg as well.  With the sale in my cruise planner, it was $9 per day plus 20% Grat to upgrade.  The sales vary though... I find even from day to day, you never know what some of the pricing will do - especially with excursions.

Is this a free place or is there a fee?

I am saddened by all the food that is NOT included onboard.  I am used to Disney and there is free food everywhere!

There is all kinds of included food available - it's only for this first lunch that it gets hectic as the MDR isn't available to many that meal - and many people are just coming onboard and want to eat.  Most of us "regular" class passengers don't even really realize about the other extra food sources/restaurants IMO - they are "hidden" quite well. (I mean the ones that aren't included for some)  There are the specialty restaurants and Sushi on FIve with charges, but there are lots of choices in the main buffet and the main dining room that are included for everyone.  The Spa Cafe, grill on pool deck,  and bakery items at Cafe el Bacio are included as well.  I always head up to the pool deck and start our cruise relaxing in the sunshine with a cold beverage, and we have a burger up there - for that first lunch.

  4. In my recent cruise planner, we had a sale as well - including a sale on the upgrade - it totalled $75US for the upgrade for 7 day cruise - only $9 per day plus gratuity.  If you log on to your cruise in the cruise planner, you can see the pricing when you add it to the "cart".  I think the price before the sale was around $85 when I had called a few months ago about it.  And some on our cruise used some of their onboard credit to pay for it as well.

  5. I just noticed on my cruise planner this morning that the discounts are still showing in the banners, but the pricing has been returned to the normal prices....a couple days ago, they were actually pretty good sales.  It says it doesn't end until tonight though?? Sounds like a similar scenario perhaps?

Forgot to ask, which ship are you on? The app only works on these ships at this time:

    - Celebrity Constellation
    - Celebrity Edge
    - Celebrity Equinox
    - Celebrity Millennium
    - Celebrity Reflection
    - Celebrity Summit

    Summit

Yes, the app works and updates onboard without a wifi package. The app and a few news websites partnering with Celebrity can be accessed by all guests free of charge. The news websites are linked on the "front page" when accessing the onboard wifi.

awesome - thanks for the info :)

  8. I live here in NS - the storm was nasty for a few hours, but it's a short one at least! - Sun is starting to come out down on the Western end here now :). And the last two days have been some of the nicest fall days we've had for seeing the beautiful colors.

  9. appreciating the food pics!  Although I've cruised with Celebrity twice in the past and know what to expect, it's my hubbies first cruise ever coming up shortly, and it's nice to be able to give him an idea what things may be like.  Our menus are showing now in the Celebrity app, so it's great to see some of the dishes. Thanks everyone.

You can easily spend a day exploring Old San Juan and the forts. We stored our luggage at Barrachina and had a delicious lunch there before heading to our Airbnb that evening. Isla Verde is a beautiful beach to relax on once you've had enough walking.

Do you mind me asking what an appropriate tip amount is nowadays to store your luggage at Barrachina for a few hours? Thanks!

Sometimes yes sometimes no. I booked our June cruise direct with Celebrity late January in $CDN. Afterwards checked pricing with big US T/A I've used in the past and found them to come out significantly higher when factoring in exchange and credit card charge so kept my reservation with X. In the past it worked out better with the TA, however not this time.

Yeah, I would only book when a big promo is on with lots of inclusions...in between sales, the prices are prob not that great with exchange. Holidays are times for really big Perk Promos typically.  Yes, the prices are probably up a bit during those sales, but no comparison to the value of the perks to me. I realize not everyone would want those perks, but they are things we would just spend a lot more money on, and it's nice to have them looked after.

So being a fellow Maitimer.... do you find you really save money having to pay the exchange rate booking with an american travel company?    I

Big time - Our local Canadian companies hardly touch cruises in my area.  I got Free drinks, free grats and a total of $500 OBC with a basic balcony cabin price.  It's all the perks where you save. (If you are one to utilize the perks which we are)   From Canada, we hardly get any perks offers that I've ever seen. Cruises are typically priced in US anyway - the Canadian companies have already just converted them to CAD.
