  1. I really despair at how cruel some people can be. Yes it is a public forum, and as such people are entitled to voice their opinions. However the sarcasm and vitriol against folks who for whatever reason haven't sailed with NCL for many years but ask for loyalty points, that they may be entitled to, is pitiful.

It may well be that some people cannot afford to cruise often. It may have something to do with illness or disability, but people seem very quick to shoot people down when in reality all they are doing is claiming what they are entitled to. NCL make the rules, and for the life of me I can't see where it says to get Loyalty points you have to cruise annually.

If the OP is entitled to the points, they should get them, if not so be it, but why people need to have a pop at them I don't know.

  2. Hi Treavor, we saw your post and would like to assist you. Please email us your personal details to publicrelations@ncl.com. Please kindly send us the name used for your booking, your phone number, and Latitudes number if you know it.

Great news. My account has been credited with the points from my first cruise with NCL.

My faith is restored, and I will be booking another cruise for 2016 as soon as I am logistically able.

Well done NCL, and many thanks.

  3. When is your sailing? Are you past final payment? That can matter.

You can do a "mock booking" on the NCL.com website.

Just select the same sailing, same cabin category, and select a cabin, but do NOT click anything about paying.

If the cost is less... and...

If you are NOT within final payment (that is, you've ONLY paid the initial deposit, and there is NO penalty to cancel), then you could go ahead and "start the payment process", but make SURE that you only put it on the 24 hour courtesy hold.

THEN CALL YOUR TA for help with the change, either with a lower price for current category, or for an upgrade at previous price, etc.

NOTE: You might lose any perks like OBC or other promos, but your TA could tell you that, or perhaps help you keep them.

If it IS within final payment, STILL contact your TA, and hope the TA can help you get an upgrade or some extra OBC.

    Good luck!

    GeezerCouple

Not travelling until May 2015 on the Spirit. So only paid deposit for a Balcony.

No OBC or any promos. UK based, if that makes any different. Tbh I am happy with the price I got, so wasn't looking for anything else, but reading this thread made me wonder.

    Thanks for the info.

  4. ^ Good.

Because I had read somewhere that they recycle the toilet water for drinking water.

Not sure if it is still the case, but in the early days of space travel, NASA Astronauts recycled urine into Drinking Water. I believe this process played a major part in the development of Kidney Dialysis Machines (Reverse Osmosis).

The bottom line is, if the water is made "pure", it makes no difference where it comes from. If you thought about what, at some point, may have tainted your household water, you'd probably never drink it.

  5. Funny thing is CM, whilst searching for "evidence" I came across tons of "stuff" from my first cruise in 1973. That was a School cruise on board the British India Ship, SS Nevasa. I was 12 years old.

I believe B.I. was bought by P&O. So if they have a loyalty program, at least I have plenty of evidence to show, should I decide to sail with them in the future.

  6. Perhaps the OP is making a valid point. NCL should be doing a better job of record keeping.

Let's face it, you never know when one of your guests might take a cruise and then come back 12 years later and ask to be rewarded for their "loyalty".

No need for sarcasm. I was loyal enough to book a suite 4 years after sailing on Dawn, and for reasons that I'm not going to post here, I am taking my only cruise since then next year, again with NCL.

  7. I have recently registered for Latitudes Rewards, having booked a cruise for May 2015.

I previously sailed on the Spirit in 2006. As it was an 11 night cruise in a suite, I received 22 points, which puts me in the Silver Tier. Back in 2002 I had a balcony cabin on the repositioning cruise (maiden voyage) of the Dawn, from Southampton UK to New York. However NCL say they have no record of this voyage, and have asked me to prove I was actually on the Ship.

They suggest I provide photographic evidence, receipts etc.

I don't recall taking photo's, as it was my first trip following the sudden death of my wife. I have searched for some evidence and the only two items I could find was the cabin Key Card, and a signed CD from Sammy Goldstein, who was the pianist on board.

I'm not sure either of these items actually constitute proof.

To be honest, I can't really understand why NCL have no record of the cruise, and although the points won't make any difference to my current status, this has left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth.

Has anyone else had a problem similar to this, and would you just forget about it, or pursue the matter? I know the points won't make that much difference, but it's just the principal.
