  1. NCL stopped their lobster night about 5 or 6 years ago. For a few years you couldn't even get lobster at the speciality restaurants. NCL is the only major American cruise line not to serve lobster in the MDR, (MSC? IDK) but it's the only cruise line to figure out complimentary chicken wings so it all works out for me at least.

Have you ever tried using a site that actually Competes for your Cruise business?

Thanks I'm familiar with that one, never seen an agent discount that much. Until NCL's pricing comes down I think I'm out of luck with calling for an upgrade. Thanks for the help, I knew these Gem sailings weren't "At Capacity" or whatever...

I think you have an excellent chance at a free upgrade. Best I can tell, the gem is no where near 60%. I would recommend holding off giving NcL additional funds at this time.

BBound, could you give me any hints on where you are seeing the new pricing? I'm still seeing the pricing I booked under which is as follows: Inside: $399 OV: $449 B: $650. And checking all the sailings in Aug and September, my Aug 22nd is still the cheapest. Thanks in advance.

This is incorrect for the Gem. No business reduces prices on sold out items. Ncl  just reduced prices again last night for all august and September Gem sailings. I can book gem right now….

    interior $379

    ocean view $450

    balcony $499

I do agree that encore in Alaska seems to be selling well for the month of august, but September encore prices are starting the expected decline.

The ships are available to book right now, just not on NcL.com. For some reason their website takes a break on the weekends.

Prices just went down today, too bad I booked yesterday. Probably going to call and get an upgrade to a balcony tomorrow, maybe I'd be better off putting in a bid. I really don't know.

  5. I don't think this has been brought up in this thread but what happens to the Magica's funnel? Do they build a new CCL Funnel on top? They could do a retro look and just repaint it.  It would be exciting to see CCL bring back the older taller funnels, which I prefer, compared to the newer fatter ones on the dream/vista classCarnival Horizon of the coast of Grand Turk.jpgCarnival Conquest 3.jpgCarnival_Cruise_Line_Fleet_1970s.png

The majority of the Costa fleet were build from Carnival molds.

Costa Atlanitca & Mediterranea - Spirit-class(both sold to Carnival China)

    Costa Fortuna & Magica - Destiny/Triumph class

Costa Luminosa, Venezia, Firenze & Deliziousa - Vista-class

    Costa Diadema - Dream-class

I think the Luminosa and Deliziousa are a modification of the panamax Holland/Cunard Vista Class. I hope there is a chance we will see more Costa ships coming to CCL as the fantasy class is retired, maybe those ships sold to the chinese line will make their way over to CCL, people love the spirit class.

  7. No idea why they posted that when they already announced the fully vaccinated ships can operate mask-free, left and right hand probably don't know what they are doing at the CDC , a la most of the cruise lines right now . The Conditional sail order instructions Is pretty clear on this issue.

I’m betting they can fill this ship with Aussies.  I believe it is already sold out.  I have no idea how many booked cruisers are foreign, though.

Not sure where you got the idea that it was sold out, there is still a lot of availability in all stateroom categories. Id be surprised if Aus would be ok with a shipload of foreign crew members entering the country and still not allowing in vaccinated Americans, it would be pure politics at that point.

  9. This is a tough one since no cruises have sailed since March so this situation has not happened yet. I would call CCL or have your travel agent call and I would try to get the deposit moved to a different reservation, that I think is a lot more likely to happen than a refund of the deposit. I'd be surprised if this cruise is able to sail without letting foreigners into the country.

  10.    Does anyone know the date that FCC expires for cruises cancelled by NCL?  That will be the date the prices return to this world, for the past couple of years NCL pricing have been next level bonkers until final payment date when the pricing would start resembling the other lines.

Right now nearly everyone looking to book a cruise is using an FCC so they are forced into sailing NCL and can't be swayed to other cruise lines by better pricing. The other cruise lines are doing it but not nearly to the extent that NCL is.

They haven't changed ships around yet for December, those are all iteneraries that were being sold before the pandemic. NCL and Royal don't really do shorter cruises on their biggest ships, they mostly run Sat-Sat or Sun-Sun.
