  1. Put scissors or nail clippers in an unlocked pocket. Not all need to be secure. The pocket holding an extra itin maybe?

That's what we do. The small front pocket holds a sewing kit with a small scissors. We put one in the front pocket of each suitcase in case our bags get separated.

  2. We have a balcony booked on our first upcoming cruise. Reasons:

    1. Compared to our last vacation at WDW, a balcony room was cheap! :D

    2. I have never seen the ocean, thought this would be a great treat for us.

    3. My ridiculous reason - watching the news a couple years ago where all those people were stuck on that ship without power, I figure at least I'd like to have a room with a balcony in that situation! :p

  3. You will have no problem getting off on time for a 9:30 shuttle. I see no reason to do self assist unless you just want the freedom to walk off whenever you choose.

Where does our luggage go if we don't do self assist? I was thinking we can leave our room around 8:30 with our luggage and get off? And call the shuttle. We are using Cortrans.

    Sorry, clueless about this :D

  4. I will NEVER use a CC in a foreign port. Take small bills.

You will see tons of people with swim suits etc. BUT if taking cabs they may not pick you up if you "appear" to be wet--even damp.

    We use http://www.homedepot.com/p/Vacation-Vault-Portable-Lightweight-Travel-Safe-with-Three-Dial-Combination-Lock-Purple-VV-PURPLE/202512224?cm_mmc=Shopping|Base&gclid=CPmug-DDl8cCFYEYHwodG2gIpg&gclsrc=aw.ds

it locks to the chair or the palapa

I am NOT a fan of tying something around your neck if you are swimming-- accidents can happen.

Thanks for this!! I just ordered in green. We use my phone for our camera a lot and I was worried about what to do with it while we are both in the water, this solves it!:D

  5. Dolphin behind Publix in Cocoa Beach. Across from Doubletree. :D

Wow! We live in Chicago, we don't see that in our lake!:D

We plan to go to the Manatee Park and then around the beaches and go eat at one of the restaurants at Port Canaveral on the Saturday before cruise the next day - we arrive the day before so we will have the full day Saturday to explore. We don't want to do the Space Center, just do local stuff.

  6. Well, this upcoming cruise is our first cruise. Our check out at the hotel is 11, so we kind of don't have much of a choice. Unless we go sit on the beach with our luggage. :p

We plan to call a cab about 10:30....we think this is a good time, we can eat breakfast at the hotel. We have no idea what to do or where to go when we get to the port (Port Canaveral), so we will have to figure that out. Then I think we will get on board and walk the ship and see where everything is and get me a mimosa(or 4 :))! Getting excited!!!:D

  7. So we are booked at the Residence Inn for 2 nights pre-cruise (cheaper to stay there 2 nights and fly out Friday after Thanksgiving rather than Saturday!)

We are not renting a car, so I think we can't take the shuttle from the hotel? Anyone with experience on that?

We don't mind taking a cab, but the port is so close, seems like such a waste of money! :D How long a ride is it?

  8. I signed up for the meet/mingle on our upcoming cruise - I did it because it was our first cruise and when I started posting here, everyone was telling me to do it! :p

But if we are on the ship and it's at a time that we wanted to do something else, I can't say for sure we will go- it's our first cruise, so I have no idea what we will be doing.

Our roll call wasn't that active so I don't really post there and last night I tried to find a way to remove ourselves from the meet/mingle, but I can't.

We will try our best to attend.

  9. I think we are there noon until 7. And I think there are 5 ships in port that day. Noon is a strange time, kind of late to get anything going really and we didn't want to waste time finding our way...

I feel okay with this excursion - it's the exact beach we wanted to go to and just long enough of a tour for our tastes. The only other part of this excursion is skyline drive? Not sure what that is. There's 2 of us.

St. Martin is going to be us on our own. Yikes! :D:eek::D We plan to just hit a couple beaches that day - I've been reading you can walk between a couple and we love to walk.
