  1. I don't remember the word 'disheartened' in the original letter ....
  2. This letter has just been posted on a FB group; I have not seen this format before, it is completely different to the previous letter I have seen posted and now specifically says what happens after 1 May 2023! Doesn't look like we are out of the woods and safe yet! Update - now I am not so sure it is different- can anyone confirm?
  3. How did they suggest that works? We still have our verandah booking, touch wood, a high deck and deposit paid for with the extra 25% FCC from 2020, meaning we are getting a 13 day cruise for NZD5674 including premium drinks, wifi and tips plus USD400 OBC. Do they suggest deals like ours are being selected for cancellation?
  4. Last time in 2020 I had to cancel/ change my flight and provide the resulting airline invoice showing the refund amount and change/ cancellation fee to the cruiseline to support my claim for ancillary costs. I had insurance but did not need it as I did not lose my whole airfare.
  5. My mistake, it appears to be based in Singapore for that period.
  6. It would be interesting to know which deck(s) the cancelled bookings are on ....
  7. Millennium goes to Alaska in November each year until the following March. When the March 2020 and later cruises were cancelled due to Covid, we were offered lift and shift to the 2022 Asia season on Solstice/ Millennium. Japan was not open in the 2022 season so these cruises were canceled in turn and 2023/ 24 cruises offered. Personally, I think it is this latter lifting and shifting that has caused the overbooking.
  8. This is the chart of affected cruises posted originally by someone from their email.
  9. I have seen a number of people, fully paid and booked 14 months ago that have been cancelled, so booking date doesn't seem to make a difference. I wonder if Contact Centre reps are just grasping at the closest reason for who gets cancelled? There is also someone with 6 linked cabins, all booked at same time who has had 3 cancelled!
  10. And some with multiple cabins had half only canceled!
  11. Exactly, now all they have apart from a few people who have been contacted are a larger number of very concerned and frustrated passengers who are feeling very uncertain about their own bookings! And what 'other options' have they considered?
  12. Was that for a balcony- it seems the overbookings were for balcony cabins.
  13. This table was posted by someone in the FB discussion of affected cruises where (some people cancelled) there are oversales
  14. Hi CruiseCritic Community! Has anyone had experience with any private tour/ shore excursion operators who will transport people with poorer mobility thanks? I don't have a chair, scooter or a walker but does use a hiking pole(s) to assist with walking and going up stairs as I have limited ability to lift my knees. Just about all of the excursions on my Celebrity cruise to Japan in October 2023 state that they are not suitable for people with limited mobility. When we booked for 2020 I was more mobile but in the last 2 years I have got worse. I am aware that Japan, particularly around the temples has a lot of steps but I'm sure that there must be some places that are more accessible than others. Any suggestions as I particularly don't want to miss out on Kyoto!
