  1. Even at "free," it's still not worth it for us. The "free" price (which means you're still paying the Service Charge) for our upcoming 15-night cruise was $288/person. On a 15-night cruise, that means each of us would have to buy an average of two drinks every night just to break even. Simply don't plan on boozing that much.

man, different strokes for different folks... two drinks a day would be "in the noise" for me!!! LOL. Even on days where I don't feel like drinking that much.

  2. last January my wife and I took a shuttle bus to Doctor's Cove beach (not Carnival-sponsored, it was on our own) and didn't have any problems!

While at the beach, there was a guy walking around selling starfish and something else, and he tried telling me that I dropped one of his wares into the water (I didn't) -- I think he was trying to trick me into paying for it. I just kind of laughed it off and avoided him, wasn't a big deal.

  3. You probably are right, but I want to remain hopeful that someday... somehow the cruise lines will address this problem.

Yeah. Some are trying... I was reading Jamman54's review of one of the Carnival ships recently (I think it may have been the Fantasy?) and they have a sign up saying they reserve the right to move your stuff if you are away from your pool chair for more than 40 minutes.

Not positive how they (attempt to) enforce this, but I've seen others saying that the employees on the Lido deck will come around and put a little placard next to unattended chairs with the current time, and if they come back and the time has elapsed (40 minutes or whatever), they'll move the person's stuff to the towel hut and free up that chair for a hopefully-non-chair-hog to take.

  4. In this case, this plaintiff isn't well off and Celebrity would gain nothing by suing him. That's why this will get settled. It's not worth it for either party to move forward with this case.

hmmm... I think I just found a way to supplement my retirement income!

  5. I agree. It’s a business, they’re not going to sell this package if it doesn’t make them money. Even when people calculate their costs and figure that it’s going to be worth it “to them,” in all likelihood, Carnival is still profiting. People use the cost of individual drinks to decide if Cheers is worth it, but those drinks are marked up considerably to begin with, so Carnival will make money. I think a lot of people, and many have said it here, buy it for the convenience and to not worry about what the final bill will be.

    Exactly..... win/win for everyone ;)
