Thank you.  We are going to the equator in 2025 so DH wants to do the Arctic Circle in 2026 so I want to make sure I pick one that actually does hit the Arctic Circle and doesn’t just come close. 🙂

We just did a cruise from Cape Liberty to Greenland and Iceland last month on Eclipse. We crossed the Arctic Circle, and everyone on board was given a certificate indicating the crossing.

This is our first Celebrity cruise. When we booked the Celebrity agent told us that we could bring on as many cans/bottles of non-alcoholic beverages as we were willing to carry. Since then I have heard that they have changed this policy and you are now limited to a set number of cans/bottles.

For anyone who has cruised lately are you now limited? If so how many cans/bottles can each person bring on board? I have looked all over the Celebrity website and cannot find a policy at all.

We cruised in August on Eclipse. Prior to that cruise we did quite a bit of research, including calling Celebrity, looking on the Celebrity website and asking on Cruise Critic and also on several different social media sites. We got varying answers. We finally decided to take a case of water (24 16 oz. bottles) wrapped in the shrink wrap from the store. We reinforced it with duct tape so it wouldn't rip and attached a luggage tag to the top. We figured the worst that would happen is we'd have to leave some behind at the port. When we arrived at the port, we gave the case of water along with our luggage to the porters. The case of water arrived at our cabin along with our luggage. No one said a word or objected in any way.

This is the first time I received an email haven’t sailed celebrity for 10 years but have a cruise booked for next year. I watched the video but didn’t know I needed to take a screen shot. Is that only needed it there are issues not receiving points?

Not required. But on several occasions they didn't award the pointsvand having the screenshot provided the proof needed to have them correct their error.

Has anyone received an email for this PUP?

This is the first one I've not received. I usually get the email within a few hours of the first notice onthis thread and DH usually receives his at the same time. This time neither of us has received it yet. We did register and watch thanks to this thread and have taken the requisite screenshot for proof. The last PUP before this one took 4 phone calls, production of screenshot and 2extra months for points to be reflected in our accounts. After our cruise at the beginning of August!  It took many phone calls to get our CaptainsClub ponts credited! A conversation with 2 supervisors and they finally fixed the problem yesterday.  Apparently there were new Captains Club numbers that were created and attached to our names! I'm now wondering if those phantom numbers also created a problem with getting our PUP email.

Hello neighbor. Sailing on. Eclipse 10/11/24 on the reposition cruise from Boston. Last month quite a few people in our 55+ community came down with Covid. We were on a Panama Canal(full) cruise in February and arrived home with Covid, even though we had shots in fall of'23.  Getting the new Covid shots this week, hoping it works. From reading these threads on CC think they need to do more to prevent the spread of infection.  One thing we try is to wear mask on elevators or otherwise avoid ones that are full. Do they insist people wash hands or sanitize when entering dining?

They consistently had crew stationed at entrances of OVC with sanitizer urging passengers to use sanitizer in addition to the sanitizer station.

    GO PHILLIES!!

  6. I should clarify my post #10 above. I used my Dyson hairdryer at the desk and plugged it into the US outlet. The bathroom outlets on the S-class ships (Solstice, Eclipse, Equinox, Silhouette and Reflection) are only for low voltage items like electric shavers. I had no issues using it there on any X ship.

Does anyone know if I can use a Dyson hairdryer on the Eclipse? I have a US one, so it is 110-120 v.   I don't want to bring it if they will just take it away when boarding. Thanks

I just got off of Eclipse on 8/16 and used mine every day on high with either medium of high heat level without any issue.

My feeling still is the Eclipse needs a good cleaning and sanitizing. There are so many cases especially on the August cruises. They need to start testing the staff/crew more. This strain of Covid is more more contagious then others. If so many cruisers are getting ill certainly the ships people are too. We as passengers expose them then they carry it around. Again, we had a wonderful cruise on Eclipse to Bermuda (8/4) in our Sky Suite expectations were met. We did 15 prior cruises on Summit to Bermuda although sorry it repositioned Eclipse was just as great.

It's not the ship. When we got home to PA I found at least a dozen different friends and family not on vacation in PA and NJ with it. It's rampant now all over.

Agree. I don’t think these three and four night sailing are doing well at all but X seems determined to make them work.

I think the LHB was confused about the X customer when she instituted these 3 and 4 night sailings and seeing the low bookings is now doing some damage control.

I apologize, I did come off as snarky.  I guess I was just luckier than you.  I've also been vaccinated and still had Covid twice (thank you grandchildren).  The first time was awful and i have no desire to repeat it. My husband who is much less careful than me has not had covid as far as we know, unless he had it with no symptoms.

It is bad in NJ.  Right now I know 5 people who are currently sick and some others who were sick earlier this month, including my son and dil.

    No apologies necessary! 😀

I just off the Greenland/Iceland cruise and by the end of the cruise there were many people coughing and sniffling.  I had heard of many people getting off cruises (not only Celebrity) with Covid, so I decided to be proactive.  If you don't want to get sick, then you need to do whatever you can to prevent it, because the only person you can trust is yourself. I saw people walking right by the Purell station at the OVC, and other people picking food out of their teeth and then going back to the buffet. I wore a mask whenever I was around large groups of people and also on bus tours.  I was continually using hand sanitizer.  I didn't get Covid.

Re the condition of the ship - it definitely needs an overhaul.  The chairs in the dining room were ripping, some of the carpet in the OVC was torn, my shower door was broken. But nothing that took away my enjoying the cruise.  The crew was great, Captain Nicolas was terrific, and the cruise director Manuel was also great

We were on the same cruise. We did the same as you did regarding Covid precautions but I came down with Covid the day we left the ship. When I hot home lots of people at home have Covid.  It's on the rise again in PA /NJ. Luckily not too sick. We've had all the shots and boosters and will get the new one. All you can go is wash hands, wear mask in crowds and hope for the best.

I am booked on a June 2025 British Isles out of Amsterdam. We haven’t cruised Celebrity since 2006 and  did four cruises between 2000 and 2006 on Galaxy , Mercury and Century and we loved ships and food. Since then it’s been most.y Princess and Royal.  Reading reviews on Celebrity website I see many many bad reviews for Eclipse, bad food , worn ship, lazy crew etc.  I know Eclipse is set for a refurbishment ,ent in April 2025 so that should help some of the decor, but the food. ? We always loved Celebrity’s food  and service . Has it gone down in quality and does it vary from ship to ship ?

I disembarked from Eclipse on August 4th. We had a fabulous time. The crew was wonderful and I could not say enough good things about them. The food was good (of course it is subjective) in the MDR and the food in the OVC had plentiful offerings for breakfast/lunch. (We never dined there in the evenings so can't say anything about dinner), The ship definitely shows wear since we last sailed on her in 2018 and she does need a refurb, but she is still a wonderful ship and I'd not worry at all. I'd sail on her again in a heartbeat if the itinerary was one I like...before or after the refurb.  Our verandah cabin was missing it's drapes (sheers) which was annoying, but didn't impact our enjoyment of the cruise. They removed all but the blackout drapes from the cabins. I'm sure that will be rectified with the refurb. Rest easy, Eclipse still has great bones and is a wonderful ship. The crew was fantastic. Thinking hard I could not come up with a single negative about anyone we interacted with for 12 days.

If you do find a wave pool, you can bet it has been roped over until the seas calm a bit 😁

Just came in from outside, and it's probably a good thing your in the Philly burbs and not here.  We've got 3 wildfires going at once on the Front Range at the moment and the air isn't worth diddly.  Wish us well.

O! Stay Safe! Send prayers and hopes for a good steady rain!

  14. Celebrity is more laid back, the ships are certainly smaller than the Oasis since the largest accommodate around 3,000 passengers give or take. There will be generally less children onboard. The entertainment on X doesn't require reservations and will not have any broadway shows, but will have cast production shows in addition to guest entertainers.
There are some differences in the perks applications between the two lines. We prefer the service on X ships, however with the post-Covid changes the differences have narrowed. Both are enjoyable. You won't find water slides, wave pools, etc. on any X ships.

The biggest difference for me is the casino is no smoking as are all indoor areas of all the ships. Because of a severe sensitivity to smoke, the casinos on most other cruise lines are a no-go for me. In fact, I have to go up or down a deck to avoid even walking through them.

  16. You shouldn't have any issues with smoke from the pool area. You can go to cruisedeckplans.com and select the public site and then Celebrity Silhouette. There is a tool that allows you to drag and drop one deck onto another to see what's above you to help choose a cabin. The slant balconies are larger but the cabins are the same.

You're better off this way. To get the PUP emails, you have to opt in for all marketing emails, which can be as many as six per day. Monitoring this thread is a far better option.

And since there is nothing to distinguish one activity from another, you can use the same screenshot over and over again.

I was thinking about that, but if you click on the "i" icon there is time/date info embedded in the photo, so I just take new screenshots for each activity.
