  1. Could someone expand on this? How do I figure the placement out?

    For Oasis Class

    For Freedom Class

    For Voyager Class

The reason I ask, is we like the bed placement with the headboard towards the front of the ship. Our last cruise on Freedom, the headboard placement was towards the aft, and I didn't sleep that well.

    Thanks

  2. May I ask what cabin you were in? We have 8340 booked and just wondering if it's a good spot.

    Laurie

Hi we were on the same cruise as the OP and were in cabin 6340 - which is the same room as you but we were on the 6th floor while you are on the 8th floor. We loved this cabin, its right next to the stairs and elevators and for you - you are only 2 floors from the Pool deck and Windjammer and only 3 floor above the Promenade deck. We prefer deck 6, but 6 thru 8 are great locations - oh and you are on the hump as well.

  3. It's almost irrelevant. The $12 covers darn near everything. We were getting Gentlemen Jack, Patron Anejo, etc... all included. The only thing that had a $1 or so upcharge was certain over the top specialty drinks and even then a vast majority were $12 or under. If you are going to have 5 alcoholic drinks a day, it's SO worth it. I won't sail without it. Don't underestimate the value of "not having to think about it" when on vacation. You walk by bars every 50 feet. It's a big part of cruising for a lot of people. Being able to just grab a drink randomly and not even think about the costs or a bill is fantastic and makes a big difference in our enjoyment of the cruise. I say get it for sure unless you drink very little.

Agree 100% - I don't even drink "that" much - but if you think about it - 3/4 drinks per evening, specialty coffee in the AM along with Freshly squeezed OJ and then 4/6 bottled waters while you are walking around and/or powerade or soda from the freestyle machine...........more then covers the cost.

  4. One reason I didn’t update my anal spreadsheet is on the Freedom class ship, you don’t need to pre plan for shows or dinner as with other ships. The Indy follows the more traditional 2 seating setting and typically has shows pre or post dinner, depending on when you have dinner.

For some, that is great as they don’t have to worry about uber planning and being super anal to know where they will eat 4 months later. But for the Disney planner in me, this is too boring as I have nothing to do pre cruise to “d o something”.

I have been conditioned by Disney to start sweating months before to gear up for the reservation system like in pouncing on the computer and phone to reserve dining at the 180 day mark to book all the days of the Disneyworld trip. The Freedom and Indy style is “too tame” for the 9.8 anal scale people like myself.

About the pre-planning I did was to email Royal 49 days out and requested a table. Don’t laugh, someone else from my roll call beat me to making the request so it goes to show you that just because you rank 9.8 on the anal scale of 1 to 10, there will always be 9.81 and 9.82+ level people out there.

For those who don’t know, you can email Royal to make a specific request. RCLDining@rccl.com

My request was for table for 8 on deck 4 next to the balcony railing. Simple, no?

Then they emailed back to confirm you have the table. We were assigned table 468. The map below is the MDR for deck 4. The number on the top is table number, the number below is size of table. Do note this changes by seating by sailing such that sometimes they can change the table to make changes between 4 to 6 to 8 on an as needed basis.

At least I thought that was all settled. Will explain more on why this thing fell apart by time I get to day 1:

Thanks Harry - We just emailed RCCL tonight to confirm our table location. - You are a wealth of information to us all !!

Let's see if what they tell me comes to fruition......... :-)

  5. Thanks for the quick reply - but after I posted, I recognized that I didn't put the cruise port that we are departing from - we are departing from Port Everglades on the Freedom, not Port Canaveral.......I agree that Port Canaveral is a breeze and parking is super convenient - but we do not know anything about Fort Lauderdale...... just trying to plan ahead.

  6. I have read other posts within CC that states that they highway from Orlando to FLL is a toll road, but does not take cash ? That confuses me, does that mean if I have exact change I am good, or do they only take the SunPass? Is it better to take the Florida Turnpike or shoot over to I-95 ? We will be driving our own car, so will have plenty of change etc........if needed.

Also I see that many CC members use the Park & GO for parking - this is the first time we will be traveling from FLL and just want to make sure I have my T's crossed and I's dotted, as we have recently cruised from Port Canaveral and it was SUPER easy.

What makes the Park & GO better then parking at the cruise port, do they not have the same easy parking like they do in Port Canaveral ?

Any other tips you may be able to provide us, as I prepare for our April trip ?

  7.

The only wrinkle is the tolls that cannot be paid with cash. You can rent a Sun Pass from Alamo to deal with that but it is pricey as I recall ($40 I believe).

Hi - Can you expand on this a little ?? We are driving from Orlando to Port Everglades for our April cruise and did not know about tolls that cannot be paid for by cash ? How do you have to pay them ? Credit card or other ??

  8. We had Ken for our very first cruise back in 2001 on the Explorer - We thought he was really good.

Our least favorite hands down was John Perry on the Freedom in April 2016 - he absolutely mailed it in - could have been on his way out - good thing Crusin Susan was the Acitivities Director - if not for her the shows would have been very dull.

I see that Drew will be the cruise director on our next cruise and I see many people love him - what makes him your top of the list? Is he personable, willing to talk to you and get to know the passengers - because that's what I think makes a good CD along with showing that you care about the shows you are doing.

  9. Well, to figure if it's "worth it", cost is an important factor. For example, if the cost is $50 total, I'd jump on it. If the cost is $5000, I'd pass.

Hijacking question - just a little - on a 8 night cruise, would you do the upgrade to a Jr Suite Guarantee for $600 from a Hump Balcony ?

Forget it - its after final payment - so that price is most likely only for New Bookings........oh well.
