Drake .... How is the mosquito situation?
Bring repellant!!! They are thick and angry.

My son is a Captain Morgan drinker so I wanted to do the tour. How far is it from the cruise port and what will it cost to travel there? Thank you!
It's about 10 miles from the pier, a taxi should cost about $20 and take you 20-25 minutes.

Wondering about the status of Buck Island National Park...

The reef and beach are intact, I do understand the bathrooms were destroyed. Big Beards is sailing there again now.

Any updates?
The beaches are coming back and businesses are reopening where possible. We are still under a curfew and cleaning up, we have very limited power and the roads are terrible, internet service is down to most residences and AT&T is still rebuilding so communications are spotty. Sprint has given up on us completely and couldn't care less so anyone with a sprint phone has no phone now. We are recovering and lots of the touristy business are opening up.
We will be back in service for the ships on November 11th as promised.

Drake, are you still in need of gas cans? We're headed that way, due November 15th. Are you anywhere near the pier?
I'm doing ok at the moment, Home Depot got in a shipment last week and I bought a couple. I appreciate the offer though! Yes, I am fairly close to the pier.

Somehow I didn't see your wishlist posting before I posted VI Strong's. Small package coming your way, with more to follow, as soon as I have the $$$

Hello
I arrive at 8.00am on the Eurodam and leave at 5.00pm from Frederiksted. I am looking at an excursion from Christiansted. The boat excursion leaves at 10.00am and arrives back at 3.00pm. Would I have enough time to get back to the ship?
If so would it be better to use a taxi or the shuttle
Thank you
Yes, you should make it back fine, I would use a taxi. Your best bet is to ask the excursion company who they recommend, they will know a taxi driver that can get you back quick.

:( Unlikely you'll have a port stop there in November.
The island is still a mess ....
Getting better every day! We will be open for business on 11/11.

Thank you Buck Island is still closed per Big Beards

Open again as of 10/22! Big Beards went out and back with the Adventure and said it was gorgeous out there!

We will be on that first cruise into St Croix on the 11th. So looking forward to seeing the island. How are things at the port area? Many people on the cruise are asking what will be open and will there be anything to do. Do you have any insight I can pass along?
Getting better all the time! Beaches are coming back and debris are being cleaned up. Tap Deck is open right across from the pier, YamYam is open one block inland, lots of little bars along King Street, N2theBlue and Adventures in Diving are both operating. Further north Rhythms is running full tilt on generator power and their beach gets better every day. To the south Sandcastle is back up to strength with the Bar, Restaurant, and Pool all nicely cleaned up and operating, their beach is pretty accessible right now as well.
Went into Christiansted on Sunday and was happy to see that most of the boardwalk is back up and running with all the bars and restaurants trying their best. Also got to see that Big Beards has resumed snorkel trips to Buck Island, which is wonderful news!
Please come enjoy the island, we will be glad to have you!

The beaches are coming back, slowly. Went to Rhythms last night for dinner and there is more sand washing ashore all the time, still lots of exposed rocks though unfortunately. Basically, all of the west end beaches are the same right now, less sand than before and rockier but certainly usable. You just need to wear sandals or water shoes to really enjoy them.

Frederiksted gets better everyday and the governor keeps repeating November 11th as the first day of cruise season. We will do our best to be ready for you!

Drake, my friend has be sending things to her family living and working in St. Croix packages every few days. Three different houses are involved.
An additional large generator plus lots other things (solar panels, etc.) are on the way with more to go. All of us are helping fill the boxes.
Odd thing they've ask to be sent: empty gas cans.
Yup, that's a common thing down here right now! I have a large crate headed this way from the states as we speak. Gas cans are scarce as gold!!

Drake ! So that sounds like our Refelction cruise to St Croix is very much up in the air at this point. We are due Dec 15th I felt that wasn't set in stone the way the Celebrity site was saying. Stay Safe !
By then we should be settling back to normal (I hope) so we'd be glad to have you.

SunBug is closed and gone, sorry to say. They were nice folks.
Sorry to say I don't know anything about St. Croix by the Sea.

Thank you, everyone, for all your concern, my family and home are safe, please read my update for more info.
Sandcastle beach

The west end beaches were badly eroded by the hurricanes, but they are coming back slowly. Not sure what you mean by "prepared for guests", they can't make the beach come back. The pool deck is clean and ready and they have chairs and umbrellas.
