  1. Hi, does this still work? How can I test it without risks?

If HAL is banning this practice, I'm worried I could end with OBC wasted if I put a slot charge against (non refundable) OBC, then cash out, but in debarkation day they refuse to compensate OBC with the casino charge and they make me pay for it (for which I would use the cash I obtained from the cashier, but I would end with unused and wasted OBC).

Your $100 shipboard credit can be used for anything on the ship -- even the shops.  On drinks the service charge is paid by that credit.  You can even use it to pay the gratuities.

The only thing you can't use it for is the casino.

If yo drink a lot, I would suggest getting s Beverage Card.  That way if there should be anything left over you won't lose it -- it will be credited back to your charge card.

If I'm understanding correctly, what you're saying is that I can buy a $200 Beverage Card (using both guests OBC), and if I don't use it at all I will be credited $200 back to my credit card?

  3. Hi, everyone! This is my first time cruising with HAL and I was just notified about the cancellation of Half Moon Cay on my Veendam sail next April. I was offered $100pp in OBC.

This might sound silly, but I don't know how it works.

    1) Will it be on my account on embarkation day?

    2) It can be used for specialty dining, spa, excursions, drinks, drink packages and more, right?

    3) Does it include service charges? For example, if I buy a drink of $9 plus service charge (let's say $10 with service charge), I will have $90 left, right? Or will I have $91 left and the service charge is paid by credit card/cash on my last day?

    4) Is it possible to follow my account movements (and the OBC) on the TV or the app onboard?

    Thanks!

  4. We were in Cozumel two weeks ago and went to Chankanaab on our own. We were at the downtown pier. Took a taxi (there were 7 of us) and got to the park early and had our choice of where to sit. Initially chose tables/chairs outside of the buffet.

Consider going on Cozumelinsider.com. They have a coupon for park entry. The buffet was $15.00 and I thought was a total waste of money. Junky food like odd looking hamburgers, fries, hot dogs etc. I was hoping for real Mexican food. They have another open air restaurant I would try.

We had dolphin excursion reservations that began at 9AM. Groups at that hour were 4-5.

When the ship tous arrived, it was a deluge of so many I wondered where they would all fit. They also had swimming with sea creature appointments, but now the groups were 15+.

So, I would go to this park on my own. You can get there early, have lots of places to visit and leave when you want.

    Just my opinion.

    Thank you!

  5. Going in March, and I decided to try snorkeling and beach time at Chankanaab.

I was doing the math, and if I go on my own (party of 2) we'll be spending: $12 (taxi plus tip) + $38 (2 admissions with discount) + $30 (snorkeling gear for 2) + $12 (taxi plus tip) = $92 ($46 pp).

The excursion "Chankanaab Shore Snorkel and Sea Lion Show - CZT4" from RCCL is $54 pp (just $8 more pp).

Should I go on my own? Or stick to RCCL ("official" excursion, no risk of missing the ship, etc.)

Maybe on my own I can stay longer, I guess...

    What do you think? Thanks.
