I've spent 18 days on the Coral within the last year. Not once have I smelled a wisp of smoke anywhere near the International Cafe.
We were on the Coral last week and the casino was "no smoking" the entire cruise. The international Cafe was delightful.

Packing to leave soon on the Coral Princess. Do we pay for the Coral Princess self service laundry with quarters or your cruise card?
Thank you.

Please note - this thread is from 2014.
We disembarked the Regal in May 2015 and had no problems. I heard there was no wait for a taxi. We took the Princess transfer and were at the airport in about 40 minutes.

We will be on an Alaska Connoisseur Land Tour and am wondering about the dress code for dinners on land. I had read that people wear whatever they wore during the day. Is that correct? If so, while we are on land we won't need to bring any clothes that we would have worn to dinner on the ship.
Thank you.

R412 is actually a bit aft of the Pizza and Ice Cream Bar on Lido Deck above.
We had an opportunity to book this suite for an upcoming cruise, but decided against it after reading reviews. The noise from Lido Deck above was intolerable at times.
We prefer to book a cabin on a deck with accommodations above and below for quiet. There may very well be suites on Riviera Deck not subject to noise from above, but for the cost I don't want to chance it.
Lew
Thanks Lew. Where did you read reviews that said the noise was intolerable? I have only found one review that said there was noise in the early morning, but it wasn't bad. I know this is all relative, but want to make an informed choice. Problem is, we won't be able to get a suite in another location on the cruises (b2b and we don't want to change rooms mid-cruise) we have chosen.

I thought I posted this before but can't find it.
We will be in R412 on the Emerald Princess. It is below the deck with the pools, however the cabin is under the ice cream shop. Has anyone who has been in this cabin experienced noise from the arranging the deck chairs early in the morning?
Thank you.

On our Regal cruise it was used for Zumba and Aerobox every morning at 9:00 and was busy and loud from that time on.
-
We had the same issue with the Regal in April. Will probably not sail on Regal or Royal again because of noise in the Piazza.
-
I have a reservation on hold in Emerald R412. Does anyone have comments on this suite? My concern is that it is on deck 14, one deck below the pools, although the suite is not directly under the pools. On the deck plan it looks like it is under the ice cream parlor. I am asking because I have read of passengers in other cabins hearing the noise of the deck chairs being arranged in the early morning.

We will be on a land tour after our cruise, that ends in Fairbanks. Our flight is at 5:30 PM on the last day. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do in Fairbanks all day, other than renting a car?
We thought about asking Princess if we could leave the tour the afternoon of the next to the last day. Has anyone done this?
Thank you.

Does Princess offer EZ Check (where they check your luggage to your home airport) out of Faribanks? If so, which airlines?
Thank you.

Concerto early TD is at 5:30.

We are considering our first suite on the Regal, Caribbean, November 29. I am having trouble telling the difference between the 3 types of suites.
1) The Premium Suite D121, D122, forward, looks like it is one large cabin, with the sitting area and the bed in the same area. The note also says "sloping wall". Am I correct that this is one room? Where is the sloping wall?
2) Penthouse Suite has the smallest square footage of the 3 types of suites. It is mid-aft, R603 and looks like a suite with a separate sitting area. Is that correct?
3) Owners Suite, B734, is the largest and has a separate sitting area. I am prone to motion sickness, so I don't think this would be the best choice for me.
I was leaning toward the Premium, but want a suite, not a large cabin, and my husband is tall, and I don't want him banging into a sloping wall.
If you have stayed in any of these suites, what are your thoughts and recommendations?
Thank you.

When the GOES officials had trouble getting your finger prints, did they make any suggestions about how to improve your chances? If not, here's what people who get frequent fingerprints (people in the military, people who routinely get screened for security clearances, teachers, etc.) know about successfully getting finger printed: rub your fingers on your forehead if its the end of the day and your skin is slightly oily (or don't wash your face first thing in the morning and head to the GOES office with an oily face) or rub your fingers through your hair if you've got some kind of creamy or oily styling product on your hair. This typically works. I have a history of problems giving fingerprints. In the past, I've been told my skin is like baby skin with very low raised ridges which is atypical for someone my age (NOT young!!). Well, I guess my finger tips finally caught up with my actual age, since I had no trouble giving finger prints at the GOES office recently.
If your GOES office is local, I would make an appointment to try giving finger prints again and use one of the techniques I suggested.
Pet - No, they didn't give me any suggestions. Just said they couldn't get them, and I'd be exempt from fingerprints. Unfortunately, there are no GOES offices near here. We took advantage of being on vacation last year and went to an office where we were vacationing. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
-
OP here. Thanks for your replies. (When I had my interview for GOES they couldn't get my fingerprints so they made a note that I am exempt from that part. I hope I don't have a problem with that!)

We are US citizens and will be flying from London to Philadelphia on British Air. Since BA is not a US airline, there is no place to put our GOES (trusted traveller) number into the reservation. For anyone who has done this, how do we ensure that we can use the GOES kiosk when we land in Philadelphia, rather than waiting on long passport lines?
Thank you.

Hi, Warnemünde is a suburb of Rostock and the site of the Cruise Ship Terminal. Occasionally ships do dock in the Commercial Port of Rostock which is on the other side of the river to the City. If you let us have your ship's name and date of arrival then we can advise where you will dock.
Not sure what you mean by 'canal cruise' as there are no canals in either Rostock or Warnemünde
For details on what there is to do and see and how to get there please see my web site and the others recommended there or have a look at the thread 'Welcome to NE Germany etc., plenty of other cruisers questions and answers about Rostock/Warnemünde there.
Happy cruising :)

Happy cruising
Anni - We are docking in Rostock. I heard there is a canal cruise (maybe it is a river) between Warnemunde and Rostock. That is what I was referring to. Thank you. I will refer to your website for more info.
-
Our ship is docking in Rostock. Is it worth the time to also go to Warnemunde? I don't think we would want to take the canal cruise, after all the days we will be on the ship.
For those of you who have seen both, what do you think?
Thank you.
-
Same here, Len. Sorry but I have only heard of ships tours as most people do Rostock DIY, its so easy. But as the next poster says, there must be someone.
Anni
Do you think we would miss anything by doing Rostock DIY?
Thanks.

Does anyone have any comments on a comparison of these two hotels, for pre-cruise in April? Both have availability for our dates and prices are not an issue.
Thank you.

I am looking for a half day private tour of Rostock in May. Do you have any suggestions of a tour company or guide I should contact?
Thank you.
-
OP here. If we take the Princess transfer to the airport (Copenhagen) do we pick up our luggage and roll it to the bus or is it carried to the bus for us?
Thanks again.

We are staying at the Doubletree and plan to walk to the mall. It looks like it is across the street. Am I correct, or will we need a car?
Thank you.

Birthdays in Norway tend to be fairly small private affairs, typically a dinner among friends and family. However, they do have their own birthday song if you can find a friendly Norwegian who's willing to sing it for you!
Otherwise, you could treat him to a nice meal ($$$ in Norway!) or buy him something like a small gift of Norwegian chocolate at the Freia chocolate shop. Does he have any particular interests or do you have an idea of how you'd like to celebrate?
Thank you for the information. I love the song on Youtube and will play it on my iPad for him on his special day!

They didn't say why the casino was non-smoking and it wasn't a charter. I assumed it was because the casino is adjacent to the IC and there isn't even a wall between them. Possibly they had complaints from people in the IC. I don't know, but I did enjoy both the casino and the IC.
