  1. We were on that sailing as well, and were just down the hall from the couple involved in the fight. We didn't see what happened but we saw security in front of the room at different times during the cruise. We asked our cabin steward about the security and told us what had happened. They may have been asked to get off at on the short stop that we had in Coz, but we saw security by their cabin door later in the week than that. We saw a felmale security officer a couple of times, and know for a fact that the female was in the room, and a couple of time saw a male security officer, and assumed that the man was in the room gathering up some things. I don't know where they kept him on the ship after they were separated.

I kinda wondered about the MDR commotion. We did MTD so were a couple of floors up, but we heard loud noises coming from below several times during dinner. There was one woman in particular, that my wife and I both commented about, that surely the tables around them had probably had enough.

Great cruise though. Debarkation wasn't a lot of fun, but everything else went great.

  2. Galveston is a drive-to port for us so transportation is not an issue, but Galveston is as good as any of the six ports that we have cruised from, as far as getting on and off the ship. Parking is certainly not an issue. We have used Lighthouse and ParkNCruise and they are both good.

We have always cruised CCL out of Galveston so we have always embarked from the larger of the two terminals. In three weeks we are sailing on RCCL out of the smaller terminal, so I hope my thoughts are still the same after that cruise.

  3. Our first was on Commodore Isle of Capri out of NOLA in 2000. The line went bankrupt a few years later. In fact, on another cruise out of NO we saw the empty ship floating across the Mississippi from where we were boarding.

I still remember how good the food and the service was in the dining room. The entertainment was two young kids, but they could really sing

We also saw probably the funniest Newly and not so Newlywed Game ever.

  4. As one who spends nearly 6 months a year lounging at beaches and on cruise ship decks we will explain. There is such a thing as wind! And especially on ships the wind can be quite strong. So if you just lay a towel over the back of a lounger or chair it will keep blowing over onto the top of your head. And if you get up from your chair to go into the pool or perhaps to the rest rooms your towel can easily blow off the chair. When the wind is not blowing we generally do not even bother with the clips.

Thank you. Wish I'd said that!

  5. Thank you everyone for your responses. Looks like we'll have to make a trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

And thank you cruiseryyc for your helpful hint. I'll remember that the next time I have to get up to go to the restroom or go to the bar to get a diet coke.

We won't be sitting by the pool anyway. We'll be at the back where it's a lot quieter and more empty chairs.

  6. Where have you bought big towel clips for deck chairs? I have googled it several times and all I come up with is clips shaped like flamingos, flip-flops, etc. All I want is what I see everytime I go on a cruise.....a clip that looks like the end of a booster cable. Thanks in advance.

  7. What suggestions would you have for seeing some of the city? We will be flying into LGA and probably staying two full days pre-cruise. I understand the taxi or shuttle from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the pier. What I don't understand is the best way to fill in the blanks.

I have read alot about the Gray Line HOHO busses, and that seems like a viable option but how does that work? Do we need to find a hotel near where they pick up, find a less expensive hotel near the airport, or neither? I also know we would want to do sightseeing by boat....how is that done?

I guess my biggest question is transportation to and from for those two days. Thanks in advance for your help.

  8. Thanks for your response. In looking at cruises and ports of call, Princess ports at Boston and Bar Harbor. The others don't do both and we would like to do both. Princess embarks at Red Hook. Do you go by the statue when leaving from Brooklyn? I've looked at a map, but it's hard to tell for sure.

  9. We have cruised several times but are beginning to research our first out of NY. I did a search on the best port to cruise out of to pass the closest to the Statue of Liberty but what I got was mostly questions about touring the Statue. So, what is the answer to that question?

We have never been to NY and want to do some sightseeing before and after the cruise. In doing some searching, it looked like cruising out of NJ is not convenient for doing that. Is that correct?

We are going during the fall to Canada/NE. I understand that leaves don't change at the same time each year, but what is the optimum time to do this cruise? Thanks in advance.

  10. We have used both Lighthouse and ParkNCruise. I prefer PNC but they are both good. PNC does not have a shuttle but they are just across the street from the terminals. That is why I like them......one less person to tip. Lighthouse does have a shuttle and they are 3-4 blocks from the terminals. I have never had a problem getting in and out of the terminal parking area, I just drop my wife and our luggage off at the curb, get a porter to take our big luggage and then drive across the street and park. It takes less than five minutes. They both have websites where you can check pricing and pre-pay for parking.

  11. We got our first passport in 2006, but the card is something that most people probably throw away. As I said, I found ours accidentally a couple of nights ago. Some of you have already mentioned the "real" passport card, which is the one I had read about on other threads. Thanks again.

  12. I just found our passport information cards that I had forgotten came with our passports. There is a place to fill in the passport number and expiration date which I had already done. Are these cards good for anything other than having contact info on the back? Is it a good idea to carry them with you when you cruise?

  13. This is how much I "disliked" Indy. We had been on ten other cruises on four different mainstream lines. Our first RCCL cruise was on the last 8-day sailing before she went across the pond. We have already booked two more cruises on the Navigator in August and the Adventure next May

Comparing Indy to the ships that we've sailed on CCL, NCL, and Princess, there is nothing that I thought deserved even a fair rating...everything good and above. (Well, the comedians were bad IMO, but the rest of the entertainment was very good.)

I have read some of those bad reviews as well. Some of them were on the same sailing that I was on and I think we must have been on different ships. I would cruise her again in a heartbeat.

  14. We are booked on Navigator in August. I check on prices every day to see if prices have gone down thinking maybe we could upgrade. For the last three days when I get to the last screen for the price breakdown I get the message "Sorry. The information you requested is temporarily unavailable. Please check again later." Is that a pretty common occurrence? After sailing CCL for most of our cruises, RCCL is our new favorite, however, I don't remember ever having problems on the CCL website. "Later ", has turned into three days.

  15. Another vote for Thenford Grey's tour. Went to Romney Manor, Brimstone Hill Fortress and ended up at Cockleshell Beach. Mr. Grey is a tremendous tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and obviously loves his island.

  16. We've used ParkNCruise and Lighthouse. We're using PNC again this August. I think they're about the same price but PNC is right across the street from the terminal. It's an easy walk across the street and has always been easy in and easy out. I drop my wife and luggage off at the terminal and then drive across the street and park. They don't have a shuttle and don't need one. I guess I really like it because it's two less times that you need to tip.
