  1. Can someone post a link to all the shareholder benefits and how to claim them?

I own CCL but never knew about this.

I posted it in Post 6.... fax your Email & phone # Plus Booking Number & Passenger Names. Current Page from your Brokers stmt (I circle the position). I do this about 60 - 75 days out. You will get an Onboard Credit based on the length of your cruise. Some heavily discounted fares not eligible but I haven’t been denied yet.

  2. I will be docking in Southampton on June 8 and headed into London. I certainly didn’t know that was the day for Trooping of the Colour In London! What an unfortunate day to need to drive into town.

Need advice on Hilton properties, have a ton of points which should give me 4 or 5 nites Free. We have been many places in the world but never London. We will want to do normal tourist 1st time visitor things. Already have Rick Steve’s 2019 London Book.

    Any Hilton properties to suggest?

  3. I used to work in the field of geriatric mental health. Taking a person with dementia out of their familiar surroundings can be very disorienting for the person. New information is challenging for a person with dementia to absorb and utilize so being on a cruise ship will present with all sorts of new information and stimulation. Even with support from family or caregivers it might become overwhelming for the person to face new surroundings, new situations, unfamiliar people and noise, etc..

My mom had dementia and while I might have wanted to give her the best experiences in the last years of life I had to reflect on whether it was about what I was seeking (as a good son and caregiver) or was it what she wanted for herself. As her illness progressed she was more and more content with what was familiar and routine and even going out to a restaurant lost interest to her.

This thread is over 2 yrs (May 2016) when the OP posted this.

  4. Don’t get me started on Viking Voucher problems. Our travel agent placed $600 of OBC into our account. This was a gift from him and he even gave us a receipt that stated the OBC was refundable. Well, We never use the credit and of course they refused to give us back the $600. We were told they only option we had was to turn the $600 into $1200 future cruise certificates. When we got home and told our agent what happened and he contacted Viking and even though he had a receipt that stated the money was refundable they yold him NO.

SO ... I stuck will 1200 of future cruise credits that can only be used 400 at a time or can be gifted to someone else (as long as it is done 45 days prior to the depart date of the cruise)

Anybody want some future cruise certificates ???

SCREW VIKING... will NEVER sail with them again

This thread is 2 yrs old but it’s good to know Viking has not changed their stripes!

  5. Why don’t you start a thread and be sure and label it for passengers past & current. You might open it to all River cruise companies who might do this itinerary. Remember each sailing has less than 200 (most boats less than 160) vs the Ocean cruises with 2000+

Very few River Cruiser even know about CC combined with the very small numbers of people on River cruisers. You are unlikely to find any one on such a unique itinerary.

Sailed Avalon in Sept 2015 Amsterdam to Budapest :)

  6. Trying to navigate through all the River Cruising tips. I currently am interested in the Paris to Zurich Viking River Cruise for July 2019. I was shocked that there was no payment plan! I cannot pay for this a year in advance. So what are my options? I have looked at travel agents but they don’t advertise that cruise. One idea was that I save (set up my own payment plan) and hope that someone cancels? Does that ever happen?

Your best option is to book with a different company. Try Avalon, Uniworld or AMA.

Vikings requirement for immediate payment is ridiculous. JMHO

  7. Thanks everyone. Because I’m short and wear petite length slacks my capris and crops are longer than most people wear because I have a hard time finally petite length clothes. I need to buy more slacks and capris for the summer I’ll look for the right length.

Poss we’re really lo King forward to the South Pacific cruise. We left bed in Tokyo for 4 years and have been to most of the countries in Asia we decide. That the islands would be a great way to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

At 5’0” (really standing up straight and stretching) I totally get it. That’s why I love Chico’s, Oh and J Jill Petites (look on line for them) the crops are about ankle length for me :)

  8. A question....If these thing "just happen", then what could Regent do to prevent it from happening in the future? Apparently, the consensus seems to be that if it does "happen" to any of us, we're to just sit back and "take it"?

Customers are paying extra (to Regent) for upgraded suite packages (concierge?) in order to get an "included pre-cruise luxury hotel" benefit. They are told in advance exactly which "luxury hotel" has been selected for them (by Regent) and which "luxury hotel" they're going to be taken to by Regent's "included airport transfer" service. The hotel was selected by Regent and disclosed to the customer well before the trip began. They may have chosen a different cruise option if the selected/announced hotel was not to their liking.

Barring an event like the hotel burning to the ground the day before they arrive at the embarkation city, I think customers should have the reasonable "right" and expectation (admittedly, passengers don't seem to have too many "rights" anymore) to be accommodated in the specific promised hotel for the night, regardless of any economic advantage the hotel might potentially gain by giving that pre-promised room to a higher paying alternative (non-Regent) customer.

It is also reasonable to assume that the customer may have specifically chosen the "included" pre-cruise hotel benefit based specifically on the "promise/expectation" that they would be staying at the Fremont Hotel (the hotel they were told by Regent that they would be staying at) and not an alternative hotel (no matter what "class" it may be rated at) across the street or down the block....and the hotel that Regent's airport transfer service has taken them to! Just how many "unavoidable changes" are customer expected to simply "accept and roll with"?

With all due respect to Papaflamingo, I don't think his experience as a pilot (employee) of an airline is applicable or equivalent to the OP's situation. As an employee, the airline personnel are simply being provided a "lay-over" accommodation for the night by the airline before they proceed on their next-day's work. As employees, they are not "paying" for that room and they have no "say" or option over where they're being put up by the airline for the night. As employees, they are at the mercy of economics, their employer, and wherever a room happens to be available for the night. As a 38-year traveling employee of the federal government, I had to stay at whatever hotel or government quarters my employer told me to stay at.

I believe the conditions of the "luxury pre-night hotel accommodation" agreement between a paying customer and Regent is completely different.

Oh good grief! Obviously something went very wrong here but rather than complain endlessly, how bout just find out what the Blank blank blank happened. Ya stuff happens but it’s not worth having your trip ruined over it and getting an ulcer. JMHO
