  1. There nothing much of late in terms of being cheap. Unless you want to go PO Australia who seem to have sales all the time. I reckon they would have much better luck not having such high opening price.

I too am struggling to find cruises that inspire me price wise for the future. There doesn't seem to be deals or much OBC offered at the moment. Skinny times at the moment. But not to worry. November is coming around.

There's the 25n Golden Princess repo Beijing-Sydney this October. Base prices on Princess show inside cabins at just under $96pp, OV $118 etc.

  2. We've just booked 23 night B-B Legend OTS Mar.3 2017, Singapore - Dubai - Barcelona, Delux Bal midship, Deck 6. Total cost $US3323.74. I also used two future cruise bookings, providing us with $US300 OBC and nothing to pay until Dec. Check it out.

That's the one they offered us as a straight swap from our cancelled Legend Sing-Dubai-Venice in May2017. 7 less days, 2 months earlier and the new itinerary hardly covered any of the same ports!

  3. From Canberra it used to work out cheaper and quicker to drive to Sydney and leave the car in the long stay at the airport. One time we got a deal with an airport hotel where we stayed one night and they stored the car in their undercover carport for free.

Now we are in FNQ the costs can be awful to fly from Cairns to Sydney unless we can get a special. :( It's cheaper sometimes to fly to Japan from Cairns.:)

  4. We've never had a cruise cancelled on us before, now it looks like we will have two.:(

Would RCCL offer replacement cruises, with more than one choice. If you can't take a replacement choice, is there any future cruise credit offered which could be used to offset the fare for a later cruise? What does price protection mean?

Or will be offered nothing, just our deposit returned? Does a cancellation notice come directly to us, or to a TA?

Starting to look at alternate options

  5. I bet some minion is having a coronary in head office trying to work out the costs of reimbursing 9 cruises if they cancel them all.

Shameful the way it is all bring handled - on again, off again, on once more. Then today they have added two new Legend itineraries to clash with some of the "sold out" non-cancelled cruises!

Suppose all will be eventually revealed - at their leisure.

  6. I really like that Golden Princess offers an awesome itinerary from Far East and Japan to Vancouver via North Pacific Ocean and Alaska - that's a great trip!

Could be created to a trip between 16 (Yokohama - Whittier) and 36 days (Singapore - Vancouver) - seems Golden Princess heads back to Alaska in 2018. :)

Or how about Sydney-Yokohama on Diamond Princess, two-weeks land content in Japan followed by the Golden Princess trans Pacific-Alaska to Vancouver? That would be wonderful!

  7. There were originally 9 straight cruises Feb-May 2017 as showing Sold Out, but yesterday the final two (Singapore-Dubai) came back online for sale - with much higher prices!

The others might progressively come back on.

I wish RCCL would stop playing games with their cruises. They seem to be in the habit lately of cancelling, redeploying or suspending bookings.

  8. Diamond Princess

    March 2018

    Sydney-Yokohama

I don't know if this can be classed as an El Cheapo fare, but noticed the front page price and final booking price varies significantly at the moment for the above Diamond Princess Sydney-Yokohama cruise. For example, there is about a $1,000 per person difference for ME mini suites.

This is on both the Princess and the favoured oz online site.

  9. Can anyone give me any feedback for these aft mini suites please?

They seem to fit our requirements as to being covered, which is what we want for a tropical cruise. I can see they are above Fusion, but we can get a room that is forward of the stage area which should be a bit quieter. We have sailed in an aft Baja balcony on Diamond before and we liked the position.

  10. There was a huge turnout for the ANZAC Day service on the pool deck at sunrise on the Explorer of the Seas this morning. Poppies were handed out together with a very well presented order of service. The bugler did a reasonable job, the captain read the Ode and laid a wreath. The whole thing was very tastefully done.

The rain held off, even though it was still a bit windy. Better than yesterday with gale force winds and 6m swells for our first sea day. They might put the barf bags away today!

  11. Ditto. It is extreme politeness to others that the culture in Asia is to wear a mask when you have an infection. Something we could take on board I think. We love to 'share' too much.

I wish it would become compulsory for those with flu and colds to wear them on planes. There's nothing worse than having everyone around you coughing and spluttering and knowing you can't escape their germs.
