We are booked in an S7, deck 10 next January. The description online still says "wraparound balcony", but I don't see how that is possible looking at the photos.

Once in a while NCL posts a coupon for a free bottle of wine (good for embarkation night only) on their Facebook page. We used one on our Jewel New Year's Eve cruise.

Thank you for another great review...so entertaining!
What's next on your cruise agenda? I think we all want to come along:)!

Oops just noticed you said Getaway, not Breakaway, but I am pretty sure the deck plans will be similar.

We booked an S7 cabin for our January 2014 12-night cruise, mainly because we wanted to be spoiled in a Haven suite for the first time and also for its spaciousness and huge corner deck!
I will be traveling with a friend and we will take turns, each having 6 nights in the bed and 6 nights on the pullout sofa.

Tracy thank you for your feedback. You helped me make up my mind. Ordering the usual bar setup tomorrow for my Sun cruise in 2 weeks. CAS card will cover me in the casino and no I will not except well pour. Never have never will. The UBP is not going to be even break even if I can't order what I like to drink. No martinis! Forget about it.

You are welcome. We were provided with a "what's included/excluded" list and I am trying to find it. For me, it just seemed to be more of a hassle as bar staff throughout the ship didn't seem educated as to what was really included. I do recall from the list it was all wines under $10 and beer in the $5.50 range, but no helmets.
Not sure if I would sign up for it again, either.

I pretty much stuck to wine for the week; my son was fine ordering his Jack and Cokes and beer. On the two occasions that I ordered martinis, I had to pay for them.
Drink of the day was not included. Speaking of, on the day that the Rebellious Fish (one of my favorites!) was DOTD, not one bar had the fishbowl glass. I was told they were being discontinued :(.
I had a couple of other issues about this package:
1) My son and I were traveling with his 20 yr old girlfriend. When he and I signed up for the beverage package, we were told that if we wanted it, then Claire had to sign up for the soda package. Well, she doesn't drink soda but in order for us to get the BP, not only did she have to sign up for the soda (at around $51 for the week), but it had to be paid for on MY credit card folio even though she was paying for her own on-board expenses.
2) As a guest of Casinos at Sea, I was provided with my free drinks in the casino card upon boarding. Despite the fact that my drink card was prominently displayed, I was not allowed to order Pinot Grigio (which is all that I drink) while playing. I was told "house white or red only". The Jewel is the only ship in the fleet where I have this problem. Had to get "special dispensation" from the host to order Pinot Grigio. Despite this, every single time I ordered one in the casino, I had to dig and show my Beverage Package sticker on my cabin card. This disrupted my play and even after getting to know the casino servers, I had to do this every time and I found it to be very frustrating.
3) The worst part, IMHO was the amount of paperwork each drink ordered through the beverage package generated. As per the terms, you could only order one drink at a time. BUT, each time, you received three pieces of paper! One that served as your drink order. One to sign and one to keep. There must be a better way, perhaps electronically (?) to keep track of the beverage package drinks. I hope NCL uses recycled paper because otherwise it is such a horrible waste of paper!

Just got off the Sun - Ketel One was included and most martinis & frozen drinks, just ask your bartender - I was only told NO once on a special martini - they just used a different vodka and it was included. Was nice not to worry about the final bar bill. We're going on the Epic Saturday and just confirmed that they are offering this package on all ships now except PoA. They didn't push it on the Sun, we had to ask where to sign up - Atrium cafe. Didn't see any other advertisements for it and most other passengers we talked to didn't know anything about it. Good at all bars & restaurants, just not room service... I drank Prosecco Brut at $9 glass + a frozen drink or 2 so it was a good deal for me.
Just off the Jewel and it was very frustrating trying to figure out what was included (and I think the staff was confused as well!).
We were told that only "classic" or "dirty" martinis were included and definitely no frozen drinks. When I went to order a Cosmo, I was told that I would have to pay for it. I asked the bartender to please make me a classic with a splash of cranberry and orange juice and he said he was not allowed to do that for the UBP.

My son is going to be thrilled! Thanks for the update and photo.

My son is a cigar smoker and the official place on the Jewel to enjoy one is outside at the Sky High Bar on Deck 13. They also sell cigars up there.

Thank you for sharing your story and may I add my deepest condolences to you and your family. It was especially touching to read of the many kindnesses shown to you by the crew.

im leaving on jewel in december.im kinda hoping for a snow storm at sail away. a snow ball fight on the pool deck seems strangely appealing to methe wife sees things differantly.
This fellow Rhode Islander is also going on the Jewel 12-31. There's something so fun about going at this time of the year. Get on and off the ship in cold weather with (hopefully) warm, sunny weather in between!

Hi -- I LOVED your photos! Seeing them makes me even more excited for my upcoming Sun cruise.
I noticed one photo that said "smoking area, deck 12 aft". Other than the casino, do you know what the other public smoking areas are? Is the Great Outdoors still a place to grab a smoke? Just asking; my intention is not to start a smoking debate...
Thanks,

Yes, you are considered "Casino VIP". If the shore-side people don't understand what that means, just ask to be directed to the Concierge Lounge.
In New Orleans, the young guy didn't think casino vip = vip, so he went and asked...and a senior person told him in front of us, that all casino "guests" were treated as VIP. The senior person then walked us to the front of the lne for key-card photos, and then walked us direct to the concierge who already had small welcome cards printed out for us.
.
Wow thanks for that tip -- I would not have known that. Appreciate the info!

I accepted a CAS offer for my next slot tournament cruise in October. We have a balcony cabin, deck 10 mid-ship. We pay the the taxes and port charges only. A fabulous deal!

Don, thanks for the fantastic review as well as the photos -- they are some of the best I have ever seen of Epic.
I look forward to reading more...

Last December on the Westerdam I hit a Blazing 7's dollar machine for $2,000...they rushed over, gave me the cash along with all the paperwork for Uncle Sam...

I won $2000 on a Blazing Sevens dollar machine a few weeks ago on the Westerdam. Was waiting to enter a slot tournament when I tossed a $20 into the machine...hit on my 2nd pull! And they immediately gave me the cash PLUS the W-2G form :(. They also mailed me (upon my request) a win-loss for the trip. I also hit several small ($100 or less) progressives on the penny machines but note you DO have to bet max to hit those in most cases.

On the Jewel last December, we were blown away by The Beatles tribute playing in the Atrium. It was standing room only. The band was phenomenal and got thunderous applause when they finished.
