  1. I have never sailed Royal - how 'locked in' is the room now? Can it change again until sail date? I have to say it isn't a room location I prob would have chosen on my own, but for the deal I got I know I can't be picky.

Is it wrong to tell them I don't love the location and see if there is another or am I just stuck with what I get because I gambled a gty?

I booked the cruise on a night and sail in 76 days.

  2. yes, I've read a lot of threads in this subforum, including info on renting.

Mainly, I wonder if I should buy one for $89 and drag it everywhere with us, or rent one for $75 and use wheelchair assistance provided by the airline and cruiseline in port.

Rent a scooter for him. Rent at home and he can use at airport too. Right to the gate.

  3. I must use an ECV for long distances of walking and rent one to bring on vacations from home (so I have for airport, etc.). I desperately want to go on a European cruise, but scared because I don't know how ECV friendly the ports are. I notice many ports shore excursions (99% of them) are not wheelchair friendly.

I was looking at this itinerary below. What ports are easy to just go to nice places by port, and which ones do I need to go further for (example I am pretty sure to go to Rome you need to take a bus there).

    Thanks for any insight.

  5. Love the look of these and watched some youtube vids. I noticed there is a 'walkway' around the front of each cabana that would lessen privacy.

My question is - is this walk way open to the entire cruise or just people in the Havana section? Not being snobby - just more worried about excessive foot traffic going back and forth all day and night.

We are sun worshipers and spend a lot of time in serenity on a cruise, and love the idea of our own 'private' serenity type area.

I can deal with a few people walking by here and there, but not an entire cruise ships worth of people!

  6. Thanks for the input! As for Princess I was on the Crown and I can't remember the other one -but similar size. I just found the ship boring, activities pretty non-existent and the food was awful. On the crown the buffet is soooooooooo small. Its a tiny round circle of food and the line up is insane. The offerings were boring and tasted awful. You can prob find a youtube of their buffet - its seriously so tiny -about the 1/8 of the size of other ships I have been on. Just wasn't for us. Room was nice, crew seemed ok, but just a boring cruise for activities. Evening entertainment was bad too. Shows were poor.

  7. Hi Everyone!

I am trying out Royal for the first time. We are avid Disney cruisers but the cost is just getting insane, plus Id love to switch it up. We have also cruised NCL (just a 2 night getaway), Princess 2 times (hated it) and Carnival 2 times - last cruise we went on we got an amazing deal I couldn't turn down on the Carnival Magic for about $700 each for a spa room fairly last minute. The cruise was 'ok' - it worked for us (myself and my daughter age 21) because I had just been through a really stressful time in life and needed a week to just relax. I had a lot of naps on that cruise! There wasn't much to do for us.

So we are thinking of trying a mega ship. We are disney people - go to disney world every year.

Here is what is important to me:

    Most important...

-nice adult area for relaxing with a pool or similar that is not using the silver ladder to get in and out of - need the stairs. I have some mobility issues and can't use those ladders - plus the pools like that kinda gross me out! I heard the harmony does not have an adult pool?

    Other important factors...

-good evening entertainment that isn't just discos. We love to see some good shows. I am a musical theater geek so would love a great show. I hate cats - I know that is on the oasis and its not a deal breaker or anything

-lots to do and see on the ship. On the carnival magic i felt bored at times - our highlight were evening movies by the pool. lol. We like to keep busy and are not casino people.

-location/ports not a big deal -could be europe or could be north america - open to anything - as long as there is a beach for me to lie on at least one day I am good

-good food options and a good buffet. I enjoy the buffets - some don't like it but I do. No need for lots of fancy dining as my daughter is a picky eater, so somewhere like wonderland wouldn't be a thing for us

-we always book a balcony room - would maybe be open to trying a boardwalk view or something? not sure.

Im thinking a mega ship - would love to try it out - or ??? Any thoughts?

  8. I agree with the hand washing situation on the magic! I was carrying my own hand sani on my lanyard all week! And yes I agree about the smoke being out of control on that ship!! You could smell it 5 floors up!! I won't ever cruise that ship again. My allergies were out of control just going close to the atrium area!
