Thanks for the laugh...lol no toilet water for me:eek:
There was a recent very good discussion on the production of water on board the ship. Other than a typically fairly high, but within the acceptable range, chlorine residual, the water is fine. If you're really concerned, get a Brita bottle with charcoal filter to remove most of the chlorine; just drink the water shortly after filtering it.Noro is spread from person to person; water on the ship has not, to the best of my knowledge, been implicated. Your fellow cruisers, not the multi-million dollar water purification system, are the problem!
CDC information page on norovirus:
http://www.cdc.gov/features/norovirus/
Wash your hand, wash your hand, wash your hands! The alcohol based hand sanitizer is NOT particularly effective against norovirus. Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands!!!!
And, yes, largely rumor. Unless your roomate has noro, then, yes, you will catch it, either from them or from helping them in the bathroom. Been there, done that, NOT on a cruiseship!

im reading noro spread through water in bathrooms... eek or is this just rumor

hello does anyone know what precautions are used for the bathroom water for the cabins- is it safe to drink and brush teeth?
any article to prove this would be helpful:confused:

Hi just looking at the constellation aug 18 /2016 sailing and you mentioned your was aug 21 cancelled due to deployment but the constellation is still sailing before and after your date.. ware u surr u have the date right? What did you end up hearing?
QUOTE=jade62;46611962]just notified by email that our cruise on August 21, 2016 On the constellation has been cancelled. Do to deployment. What in the world does that mean? Now I am unable to find a cruise on celebrity with the ports I want. So :):mad:disappointed!
We were to depart from venice. Anyone else in this "boat" and if so what are you going to do.
-
Can anyone tell me if on celebrity constellation there is Rai international on the Mediterranean sailings???
-
that connie better not charter our med cruise sept 2016... I know its almost sold out so the chances I would think are slim:confused:
-
which connie sailings are you referring to for charter?
One portion of StarVista's business is putting together themed sea cruises. They've been running ads for the Flower Power themed cruise on the Connie. It's open to anyone who wants to sign on. The rates per cabin are a little higher than charged by Celebrity for the same cabins. The problem with letting folks who've already booked with Celebrity is they have more than likely paid less money for the cabin, and probably a perk of some sort. StarVista charges more per cabin.

If booked guests are flexible about getting bumped, it might actually turn out to be a good thing. "If there are guests that are going to be displaced," Shaw continues, "I will say that the company has always sided with the guests who are booked and we have a fairly aggressive compensation program for those guests who are displaced. We offer a comparable product, Freedom [of the Seas] for Liberty for example; compensation in the form of onboard credits; and if guests choose not to take advantage of the offer, then they are fully refunded."
The bottom line? Cruise lines will only sign off on a charter if it affects a small percentage of already booked passengers. And yes, while that may be little comfort to each individual who was looking forward to a cruise vacation and suddenly has to scramble to rebook or rearrange time off from school or work, the line is true to its word. In 2007, a last-minute charter (six months out) of Legend of the Seas booted passengers from a 12-night European cruise; the line offered full refunds or the ability to switch to a similar sailing on that same ship, and compensated those who did rebook with $400 per suite or $200 per cabin. The line also reimbursed affected passengers up to $200 per person for airline change fees -- even if they booked flights independently

if a cruise is almost sold out for Sept /2016 can it still charter? this better not happen to us, I would be devastated. we have planned so much around this and read the connie in 2016 has chartered 2x now... hopefully that's it..
that happened to us for a princess cruise once- we didn't go at all after that:mad:

we did the allure for 14 day and we attended rita 3 times it was a blast and the best mexican food we have ever tried- reviews are reviews, now we are doing europe next yr 23 days and doing the harmony for a portion of the trip and very dissapointed that they would get rid of such an amazing fiesta:(
Ritas Cantina had horrible reviews for the most part and was mentioned as being similar to a bad Taco Bell by many. pretty sure it was more of a poor version of Tex Mex.Sabor is getting really good reviews and serves much better and more authentic mexican food.
-
in otherwords boring and lame!! what a dissapointment that is:mad:
Our experience with Sabor on Navigator is that there was no fiesta and there was no dancing. -
Ritas was amazing, the atmophere , dancing it was a blast - sabor is not a mexican fiesta with music and dance or is it ? please let me know and it was always packed in there... not sure why royal would change this
-
Has anyone done the allure or oasis latley- no more rita cantina i think? not on deck plan for the harmony now called Sabor and not fiesta with dancing and hats etc...
please tell me it isnt so?
-
Maybe for you they are not, but for others its really important! :D
Lobsters on cruise ships are really not worth being too concerned about -
I just read the op post and no lobster seen anywhere on the constellation- who has been on her recently and had lobster free in main dining?
-
forsure the oasis, no comparison. We did the equinox and it were not happy, oasis is amazing.. im still in awe!
Haven't been here in a couple years, but I'd love to ask for some advice. My wife and I are planning a 30 year anniversary tripJune 2016. We will be starting in Barcelona for a couple days, then taking a Mediterranean cruise.
We are trying to decide between the new Harmony of the Seas (will be the 2nd voyage) and Celebrity Equinox. The class of cabin that we want are within a couple hundred dollars, so that's not a factor. The itineraries are similar as well, with Harmony ending back at Barcelona and Celebrity ending in Athens.
However, the Equinox is offering free gratuities, drink package, and $300 total onboard credit. That's a pretty attractive offer.
Has anyone sailed on an Oasis ship and the Equinox who can give me their opinion?
Thanks in advance

I wonder if the incidents of noro are more common on the Caribbean cruises, we are doing 18 nights in Europe and last 20 day cruise in Europe on Holland no issues at all, except I felt like everyones grandchild on there... felt out of place...;)
-
I wont be banned as I know how to conduct myself in a proper, respectful way.. no worries apology accepted
I am just stating facts, and emphasizing the important words. I am not being rude, and I am not being condescending. Sorry that you took it that way.I am simply telling you that it is not possible that you got sick from the ship's water, when no one else did.
If you and your hubby were BOTH sick, then it was something that you and he both had - perhaps a stomach virus.
You can get banned here as well - anyone can. LOL
-
lemonade from the buffet is made with the ship water from the sea... but filtered... ;)
If you were sick from the lemonade, why would you want to know about brushing your teeth? Two separate things, no?I don't think they make the lemonade using bathroom water.
I personally have a hard time with the lemonade. I find it a bit too acidic and it upsets my stomach. I love how it tastes but I usually have to water it down a bit (with....ship water). My husband can drink gallons of it though, and it doesn't bother him at all.
And we always use the bathroom water when we brush our teeth. We've never been sick from it.

-
and how do we know whom and how many were sick on that ship..... sickness on ships is kept very hush hush!!
It really just got me thinking that if the water on ANY ship was bad and made passengers sick, it would be catastrophic. It would make everyone sick - passengers AND crew.
It might even be worse than the worst case of Norovirus.
-
listen now you don't have to be rude to me! with your condescending tone! that is not allowed here, you can get banned from here- chill my friend!
The fact is that if you got sick, and hubby got sick, and NONE OF THE OTHER THOUSANDS OF PASSENGERS got sick - it was NOT the water.Every cruise ship processes their water the same way.
If the water from the "free lemonade" made you sick, and that's the water they use FOR EVERYTHING, from cooking to coffee, then EVERY PASSENGER on board would have been sick.
The water on the ship is SAFE TO DRINK.
PERIOD.
-
equinox 2011 something was in that water on the ship that made me ill and hubby as well..
I just hope the constellation has better main room dining food and water will not make us sick again..
they take water from the ocean and process it... who knows how filtered it really is.... was the machine that filters the water not working on the equinox.. something was odd forsure
who knows...
-
I wish that was true, however it was from the lemonade- as soon as I stopped drinking it I felt better, then went back to drink it felt sick... I was sick when I got home for a long time ...:(
