Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. OP here. I guess I should have stated the reason I was asking my question. I didn't include it in the original post because all I was doing was asking a simple question. It is so odd to me that some people would take things out of context (with wrong assumptions) and use my post to make judgements. Anyway, the reason I asked was because I wanted to purchase the pills that the cruise line did not give out. I have not tried either medication and I have no idea if I will be sea sick or not. I figured if I bought one medication and it did not work for me, there would at least be a backup of another medication available. I have also purchased wristbands and ginger candies. And, yes, I could purchase both kinds of medicine but if I don't, I doubt it will affect your cruise at all. As for Celebrity, it appears it has chosen to make this expense one of those of doing business-- like providing toiletries and toilet paper. Charmin or Scotts anyone?
  2. Hi. Does anyone know whether the Customer Service Desk on the Constellation has Bonine or Dramamine? Just to clarify, I am not asking if the Customer Service Desk carries sea sickness medication. Instead, I am asking which of the two medications the Constellation carries for passengers who are sea sick. Thank you!
  3. I am a new cruiser so everything I "know" about Celebrity and other cruise lines is based off of forums like this one, youtube videos, cruise line advertisements, etc. I do not wish to start any trouble but I have a real question about how and when cruise lines communicate substantial changes to policies, practices and advertisements to their customers. (By "substantial," I mean something that a regular person might have relied on in making his/her cruise decisions.") It appears to me that Celebrity is very good at flying under the radar and is also very slow to correct conflicting and obsolete information. When the dining changes were made, lines like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival and Princess proactively made announcements about them. As a couple of other people have already noted, the information on Celebrity's website often conflicts with what is actually happening on its ships. Examples include the roll out the new drink packages (the advertisement in the cruise planner where you purchase drink packages said the Zero Proof Package was included in the Classic Drink Package but is it not); a new room service fee was imposed but not all the menus showed the fee; the Solarium is billed as "adults only" when 13 years olds are now allowed in at all times of the day, along with the family swim times; etc. It's not the changes or the policies themselves that confuse me. What confuses me is why Celebrity does not feel the need to ensure the information it puts out there, oftentimes in writing, is accurate. It is like ordering and paying for the best model Lexus only to be delivered the no frills base model Lexus. Yes, you are still getting a Lexus but I think most people would be upset at the downgrade. So, do all the cruise lines operate this way? Is it something that is just built into the industry? Which lines would you say are the best when it comes to providing the experience the line advertises? Thank you in advance for your views on this topic.
  4. I was told by Celebrity last week (called them) that they are now allowing 13 year olds in the solarium pool if they have parental supervision. No offense to parents of young teens who behave more like adults but young teens will likely behave like young teens even if a parent is sitting somewhere in the area. They can't help it. So, with this change plus the family swimming hours, I think the days of the Solarium being an adult space are over. I also agree that Celebrity should make announcements when they change an advertised policy so customers are not misled. They may not have to do so because of language in the cruise contract but it is sad they rely on the lowest possible standard to guide their decisions instead of behaving in a transparent way.
  5. Could someone who has recently sailed on the Constellation please tell me if the showers in the regular verandah cabins have curtains or doors? When I called, the representative said all the showers, except for the roll in ones, had doors installed during the ship's last renovation. I emailed to double check and this time the representative said there are shower curtains for regular verandah cabins and lower. In some pictures, it kind of looks like there are clear glass doors with shower curtains outside the glass for privacy. TIA.
  6. I would be so utterly grateful if you would share!
  7. I would like to know if anyone has asked a staff member at the buffet for a specific item that used to be there (carvery station meat) and was told that the item simply would not be procured.
  8. Hi. My travel agent is not always timely when I have questions. I know the general policy is that all communications with Celebrity should be through your travel agent if you have one but what do you do if your travel agent is unresponsive? On a more general note, are travel agents today really "advisors?" I keep reading that the value added for booking with a travel agent is the advice and guidance you get. I contacted several travel agents before booking my cruise and they were mostly sales people as opposed to counselors. It actually makes me sad because I want to form a long lasting relationship with someone for all my travel needs. Thanks.
  9. Hi. I will be taking my first Celebrity cruise on the Constellation sailing June 3, 2023 (9 Night Best of Mediterranean). I am having a hard time finding answers to the following questions: 1. I booked an All Included fare. If I want to upgrade to the Premium Drink Package, does my cabin mate have to upgrade as well? 2. Are specialty coffees no longer included in the new Classic Drink Package? 3. How many minutes do you have to wait before ordering your next beverage if you have a drink package? Can you order water with your drink without being charged? 4. Is champagne considered to be a wine for purposes of bringing alcohol on board on embarkation day? What about dessert wine? 5. I heard there are three or four menus for Le Petite Chef that rotate during a cruise. Is this the case on the Constellation? How can I find out when the menu I am interested in (steak and lobster tail) will be served? Can you cancel a specialty dining reservation? 6. Does anyone have the new menu for the MDR? Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
