  1. I'm short in the torso, but I would suggest separates.

Try to find a couple dressy tops to pair with a skirt or pants.

Swing dresses might be nice if you could find the style. No waist and would flow over your ribcage.

    Maybe we could "average out".

I've been looking for separates but they seem to fall in 2 categories -- either much too young (midriff baring prom dresses) or a bit too mature. Just saw this online at Chicos... might have to go check it out.

  2. Hi all,

I don't have any pictures to share as I'm searching for 2 outfits for our upcoming cruise formal nights. We sail in 17 days so time is getting short!

I'm struggling with fit. I'm longer than average from my shoulders to waist, so anything with a waist seam doesn't seam to fit properly. In addition my actual rib cage is large so even if I can handle the seam being above my waist, if it fits around me I look like a rectangle... no curve at all!

My questions to you wonderful ladies are does anyone else struggle with this and if so can you suggest brands or places to shop?

  3. Thanks in no small part to your review, yesterday we booked our 3rd cruise... this time on the Escape sailing Dec 9, 2017. We're 28 days out from our 2nd Royal Caribbean cruise. Liberty of the Seas this time.

We booked one of those deck 8 mini-suites on the Escape after watching your video tour. NCL owes you a commission!

Looking forward to trying NCL and the Escape. At least if we survive this next one with the kids and grandkids! Will be a different kind of cruise for sure.

  4. We're going on our 2nd RCL cruise the end of May. I have a couple of fancy dresses I wore on our last cruise for formal nights, but just wanted something new. Went to Steinmart last evening and picked up a pair of ivory sparkly evening pants and a beaded top. I think it was $90 for both. Best part? Pants are super comfy -- stretchy with elastic waist. Perfect in case I eat too ouch earlier in the week, plus very easy to pack. Barring any huge weight fluctuations this outfit will stay in my wardrobe probably forever! Pretty sure they will come out again for New Years Eve.

We both enjoyed dressing for dinner on our last cruise. It added to the fun and sense of specialness. Just pick things that are also comfortable and thankfully there are a lot of options out there.

  5. Thanks so much for the play by play review. We're sailing Liberty the end of May with kids and grand girls in tow. I'm thinking we might spring for the cupcake class for the girls. They're 6-13 and it will be everyone else's first cruise. Also thinking we need to do the mixology class. The R Bar was our hangout on our first cruise on Navigator. We have the drink package but kids are on their own.
