1. This new ship is so exciting - already looking forward to it's sister ships -

love this thread!! and yes, it'd be nice to have a Cheesecake Factory on board - love Starbucks on the Oasis and Allure!

I think my Quantum April 12 2015 sailing is almost full - ahhh = the anticipation of a brand new RCCL ship.. !!

    Host Corkey

I have a group of friends on that Cruise too Corkey. I was supposed to join them but had a conflict. It's a wonderful itinerary. Say hello to my friends Polly, Ken (NJ) and Amanda & Phil (England)!

  2. Shaun, great thread thanks for starting it. I will definitely keep stoppping back to check on people uploading photos and information as we get it. DD & I are booked in a Spa JS mid-ship (Hump) for Dec 12, 2014 on a 8 night Bahamas. Really NOT thrilled with the itinerary at all, more about the ship. I wish RCI would delete that itinerary altogether and just stick to Caribbean. Just my opinion. I plan on sending a letter of suggestion about that and just a thought: wouldn't it be great if they could stay overnight in Labadee. They could have some night time activities on the island, entertainment and we could all get 2 whole days there. We love Labadee!

  3. Hi,

We were just on the Freedom of the Seas and spent the day at Nachi Cocom. So worth the money. Absolutely gorgeous, clean beach resort. The taxi ride was $20 for 4 people with tip one way. You are greeted at the entrance by an employee who will give you a sombraro to wear and take a photo. You can buy the photo if you want, no pressure. We booked online as they only allow 100 people max for the day. I paid the balance once there. They bring you to your loungers and you have a designated waiter for the day. He will get all your drinks and lunch if you chose to sit on the beach to eat. If not, eat in the dining area and you can give him your order there. The food was very yummy, gauc to die for!!! If you choose not to bring a towel, you can purchase one for the day for $5.00 and a floatmat is $7.00. Other than that everything is free. They will have people give their spiel about massages, banana boating and glass bottom boat rides. But they don't hound you. Any questions, just let me know.

  4.
Thanks for the offer Anne. Unfortunately a cruise in Dec. would be to risky for us with our weather. If we got snow and our dog sitter had problems I would never be forgivin ! We are looking at a cruise in Sept, right after Labor Day. There is a 4 night Bahamas cruise, and a 5 night Western Caribbean, both out of Fla. I'll let you know if I book one. The Wow sale starts tomorrow so ill see what their pricesre like. Happy cruising !
OK sounds like a plan!

Hi All: I added a couple more photos from our cruise, including the photo of us at the Hotel Director's dinner table. Follow this link:

  5.
Great slide show Anne ! It's almost like we were there living it with you !
Hey Eric & Colleen, yes I know! We miss the ship so much already and it's only been a week. Just booked the QOS for 12 Dec 2014 an 8 night Bahamas cruise. That fit into Julie's college schedule. I'm also booked for the Oasis of the Seas on 3 May 2014 with my sister and my Florida friends. Maybe you all can do the QOS with us??? :D
did you find the famous roast beef sandwiches on board and if so, where and when?? Cruising in August and need to know where to get my *fix*.
Aww sorry no roast beef sandwiches on board.
  6.
Over 18 cruises I've met plenty of CruiseCritic people with whom I didn't click and plenty with whom I did. Regardless, I never felt the need to stalk someone after the cruise by posting negative comments in their reviews/postings. Just chalk it up to you and Anne not clicking and move on to planning your next cruise. CruiseCritic is supposed to be a friendly place. Your snipes at Anne are being ignored by her and are therefore just cluttering-up the screens of everyone else who is trying to learn about this ship and/or itinerary.

I second that !! Move on.

Me thinks you don't get the good humor between them!;)
No worries, thanks for sticking up for me. Some humor involved yes but let's move on for sure. Love Cruise Critic and all the wonderful people I have met over the years. Once in a while, you can't make everyone happy. :p Happy Cruising!

Hoping for more questions from future FOS cruisers. I promise, promise I will try to upload some photos this weekend into this thread from our cruise. Like I said, visual is always great. :D
  7. We are big Richard Spacey fans too. Richard was on our EOS cruise last May 2012 with Leigh X. Then he was on our most recent cruise, Freedom of the Seas last week with Jamie. Richard is extremely personable, friendly and a great show-man. I am NOT a Ken Rush fan at all. I find him not friendly and stand-offish with the cruisers. At least that's he was on a couple of our cruises with him. Just my opinion, don't flame me. :p

  8.

I'd post more but I'm too busy planning my next cruises. It looks like I have Liberty, Freedom and Adventure lined-up for next year - as well as my first cruise on Princess! :)

Dave, I hope our cruising paths cross again. Loved spending time with you, Wendy and your friends! It's Oasis of the Seas (2014) and Quantum of the Seas (2015) next up for us. You all will have to come up to NJ to visit and cruise on QOS. Cannot wait! :D

  9. Annefram, thanks for posting. Did you use your BOGO dining coupon on this cruise? I know some ships allow using both (for a couple) coupons on nights other than the first night. I want to go to Portofino and understand that the Mystery Theater is there the first night. I am hoping they will let us use the coupon on another night, as some ships do. Do you have any info on this, please?

No we didn't use the BOGO coupon for Portofino's or Chop's. I believe you had to use them the night we boarded or it was a certain night stipulated on the coupon list in your cabin. We have done the Mystery Dinner on a previous cruise (Explorer). It was a lot of fun. You will start in the Viking Crown Lounge. They will have finger foods and champagne. They start the show there and then you go to Portofino's for the remainder of the show and dinner. Definitely worth doing once. Enjoy!

  10. Thanks for the wonderful review, I appreciate it.

We will be on the Freedom in a few weeks with family and I have a question for you: On your stingray tour through the ship, do you remember the type of transportation you used (bus, van, etc.) to get to your excursion boat? We have a 7-year old granddaughter and her mom wants to take a booster seat as she is concerned about safety. She realizes that if there is a bus used there will be no seat belts so a booster won't work. However, if there is a van, there might possibly be seat belts????

Thanks for your understanding with regard to my question.

The first time we did this tour with the ship back in 2009, we had a bus for everyone that was on the excursion and the boat we took out to the sandbar was a double-decker, quite large.

For this year's excursion we actually had a small bus/van and there weren't any seatbelts that I remember. Plus our group was so large they split us into 2 separate vans and small boats. It was very different this time. The boat was smaller this trip and run by brother's who were very good. When the weather changed so drastically while we were out there, they took their time going back to the pier area as to not toss us around with the high waves. We were getting pounded by the rain and believe me that was greatly appreciated.

If you have any other questions, just let me know.

  11. The casino match play coupons are all gone too - they don't exist in any form. Those were my favorite coupons. :(

They were my favorites also. I loved winning majority of the time with those. I guess RCI figured out they were losing money with having those. The spin to wins are ridiculous and of course they still have those coupons. I won 2 key chains which I gave to our first time cruisers.

Hey does anyone know how to upload photos right onto the window pane here instead the smaller photos? I see other CC'ers do it and was wondering how to add my photos to this thread.

  12. You mentioned that the coupons are no loaded on sea pass....so does that mean mine will be on my card and my DH's coupons on his? I sure hope not...lol

I normally use both of ours.

Unfortunately, that's how it works now. (With the exception of internet and telephone coupons - they still distribute those to your stateroom in paper format and you can apply them to either account.)

Dave is correct, unfortunately RCI added the coupons to individuals sea pass cards. I have to say it was easier not having to remember to bring coupons with me for spa visits etc.

  13. Hi All,

I have a ton of photos and I will try to upload over the next few days some highlights from our cruise. I know visual is always a plus. Just need to figure out how to do that. In the mean time, if you have any questions will be glad to answer for you with regard to the ship and the itinerary if you are visiting the same islands. I will answer the questions, not the people that are trying to highjack my thread. Go start your own review, you know who you are. :pLOL

  14. Sorry I didn't get to meet you, Dale. I was traveling with 2 children and 7 other adults - only one of whom is a Cruise Critic. Seemed like I couldn't go anywhere on the ship without running into people in our group so there wasn't really a lot of time to meet new people. I did, however, see you granddaughters in the night club a few times. (I recognized them from their photos on our roll call.) They always looked like they were having fun!

Dave, you were just happy being with your group of friends and seeing me, Julie, Darline & Chloe every day. Julie really enjoyed the drinks you bought her too. You're such a bad influence!!!;)
