  1. I don't know if you are still monitoring this thread, but can you tell me about debarkation? I've read that you embark and debark from a lower deck. We were planning to do self-assist but I am concerned that the elevators will be a nightmare and I've had the misfortune of doing self-assist and having to use the stairs. Would never recommend that. Can you describe your experience and what type of debarkation you chose? Thanks!

The self assist was the best ever. You go by floor to forward elevator I think they control the elevators and you are off in no time at all!

  2. Can you buy FTTF before you have paid your trip in full? We have a Horizon trip booked for April, but I don't see FTTF even offered?

Yes I just bought it for 2 cabin Elation sailing 2/5/18. Final payment is December.

  3. For those of you who are insulted by my cardboard reference, I was responding to the OP's original question if Carnival Pizza was like the Princess pizza.

The pizza on Princess is a hold over from the merger with Sitmar, an Italian cruise line. Sitmar pizza, and now Princess pizza, was (is) neopolitan. The pizzeria on board had the traditional brick (stone) lined interior and the pizza was (is) to die for. It is the pizza that many people now describe as "New York" style. Of course, that is because of the many Italians who immigrated to the NYC area and bought their knowledge of pizza with them.

The only other line to serve that quality of pizza is MSC.

So for the OP's question about Carnival pizza, the answer stands: Go to the grocery store....

Agree with MSC pizza, to die for, Lido pizza is good on Divina, but the specialty pizza is absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to eat it again in Nov.

  4. Smarks, that's the sailing I'll be on too. I can't wait to see the finished dry dock. We have a roll call. It's not very busy.

Please take photos of all the upgrades when you are on your sailing so we can see what to expect. The cabins were in dire need of improvement.

  5. Hey everyone!

Cool! I shall get to meet a lot of people!

To answer a couple of questions:

I am not a cruise director..just one of the Fun Squad. One day but not just yet.

I'll be on the Freedom from September 2nd-March 3rd so if youre on the ship sometime during that, you shall most certainly see me!

    Super looking forward to it.

This will be my second contract!

Hi Mark, met you on Elation in Feb 2017, just wondering if you have and info on what will be added when she goes into dry dock next month? We will be back on her next Feb.

  6. Just off Elation, yes the ship is a little dated (going to dry dock in Sep2017) for cabin updates amongst other things. For an old girl I would still give her a solid 8/10. (Veteran cruiser 26 under my belt various lines). Did a 5 nighter service was good, food was good never had trouble with choices in main dining room. Our waitress Damira from Croatia was superb. CD Kevin was such fun. Enjoyed Punchliner comedy club. Had room service breakfast each day. Relaxed in Serenity area, would get there. By 10 and could still find a lounger. Fellow passengers were well behaved and and seemed to be having a blast.

Self assist debarkation was a breeze, Kevin has it so well planned , no pushing and unpleasantness. Each floor moves to forward elevators starting with 4th, were off in no time. I would definitely sail Elation again with no hesitation and after updates it will be even better [emoji74][emoji924]

  7. My father did one last week, he has previously done 2 carnival Facination cruises out of JAX, he thought Facination was better(I'd give it a 6/10) so you can imagine what it must have been like. Also the South African coast is rough... not as fun as Caribbean. If I still lived there I would venture on it but would not fly there for a cruise.
