Since you live in Florida you're probably able to drive to the port and can pack whatever you need for your cruise. Those of us who fly have to pack light. It's much easier to pack maybe two or three outfits for a week and just have them washed as needed. My wife and I both share a carryon sized piece of luggage when we fly.

Yes, not having to fly definitely is great for me! First, I don’t fly, and second, I use space bags to get all our clothes in the suitcase so it’s heavy!

  2. Guess I just don’t understand the fascination with laundry! I’d hate to know I couldn’t go on a 7 day cruise without doing laundry, lol.  We made Diamond in January and I could count on both hands the number of times I’ve sent laundry out. But to each his own!

Oh man...Didn't book insurance for our flights or cruise, so now figuring out how to salvage this family vacation. Does anyone know how to search for cruises that are leaving this Saturday from Port Canaveral?

Only thing I see available is Mardi Gras leaving Saturday for. 7 day. They had all types of cabins showing. Good luck!  To search, go on carnival.com and look under Find A Cruise. Choose Port Canaveral, and choose May. That will bring up what’s available. Sure hope Carnival comes up with something for those affected by this!

  4. This is just a glitch in their system. Sometimes we get two or three emails about it. Others have gotten more. Just check your cruise manager. If it’s all done don’t worry about it. You will get an email to do your vaccine attestation 72 hours from sailing, so you do that in your cruise manager. It’s just a simple q/a about Covid.

Thanks... I just found the place to send them an email.  So, I guess they will get the email and do whatever is needed.   I just don't remember ever doing that before.  But we have plenty of time, so we'll figure it out.

My PVP always does that when we book so don’t have to do it. Maybe you did that before too.

  6. My personal choice would be Spirit, simply because I like the smaller ships and the convenient layout of Spirit. Elation is also smaller, but I didn’t like the fact they had no sofas to sit on in the cabins, that may be a consideration for your older people. Haven’t tried Mardi Gras yet and don’t plan to, just don’t think I would like that big ship and all those people, although I’m sure there will be plenty to do.

  7. Never been on an actual Christmas cruise but the month of December. Yes, the decorations are just beautiful!  Maybe one day we will do an actual Christmas.

I would say my favorite class is the Spirit class if for no other reason than navigating around the ship! It is so nice to be able to walk out of the dining room and just walk on down the promenade all the way without having to go up and down elevators! But they are just the right size for me. We’ve been on Miracle twice, Legend once and now Spirit twice recently when she was out of Jacksonville. Hope you enjoy that class too.

False.  The Carnival Spirit just sailed out of Jacksonville....and the picture you provided looks like a Spirit class ship. But yes, the bridge is an obstacle for larger ships.

She said earlier it was her mistake, that photo was the Spirit going under the bridge.

  9. I lived in Jacksonville all my life, have some neat pix of the bridge being built!  We’re now about an hour away and use Port Canaveral because of not liking the ships that have been going out of Jax. We did recently go on the Spirit twice when she was sent to replace Ecstacy for a while. Instead of departing around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, both trips didn’t leave till around 8:30 pm because of having to wait for low tide. Arrival time for the cruises before ours were delayed as well for low tide.

As others have said, Carnival and the City of Jax would love to build a new cruise terminal east of the bridge. They have tried many times without success to negotiate with the village of Mayport to put a terminal there, but they don’t want to lose the quaintness of their little village . There was a piece of property that would have been ideal, but couldn’t ever reach an agreement. Sure wish they would, it would be a nice boon for the local economy.

  10. Thanks for asking this question! I am in the same predicament. Cruising June 3, was planning on getting tested on Tuesday before Friday sailing as we are fully vaxed, and first booster was in November and December. We are 75 and 77 years old and in good health. We were planning on getting the 2nd booster later on as flu season gets closer. Now I’m confused as to whether we HAVE TO HAVE the second booster to test in 3 days prior or not. I guess the best solution is to test in 2 days instead of 3.

  11. Enjoy your suite, you will be spoiled forever if for no other reason than all the room! We got lucky and had our first suite on Spirit in March, was the Vista Suite, so awesome! Went back to our usual balcony in April, really makes me appreciate the suite!

  12. What type of Diamond gathering you have is dependent on how many Diamonds are on board your particular cruise. When we turned Diamond in January (finally!) on Magic there were close to 200 so had a nice brunch in the dining room. The March and April  cruises on Spirit had a nice cocktail party in the lounge with drinks of your choice and appetizers. I’ve been to a couple with my friend as a guest that were  luncheons, brunches or intimate gatherings in the piano bar. Just really depends on how many.

As to the platinum/Diamond reunion, both 5 days on Spirit had drinks of your choice in the lounge, no appetizers.  Pride will probably be the same.

  13. It also depends on the ship. Magic allows shorts except elegant night. Spirit doesn’t allow shorts at all. This is for men. I don’t remember the ship at the time, but we have had the steakhouse call to let us know the men could wear shorts that night.

  14. I recently had an issue with a carnival gift card I got as a Christmas present. I checked the balance precruise just to make sure it was still good. I went to guest services to have it applied to my S&S account. They entered the info and it kept saying it wasn’t valid! I explained I had checked it before I left and it was good. They ended up emailing the info to someone and the next day got answer when it was applied to my account.
