  1. As someone else has already stated, there should be a date set where cruises can be chartered before that date, and then after that date expires, the general public can begin booking.

I have an Oasis booking now in April. Is it possible that could be charted now? I imagine it wouldn't at this point, but if it did, I would be out thousands of dollars (airfare/rental vehicle/condo for the week before/all other expenses I have paid).

I also have a Harmony Cruise booked for April 22nd, 2017. I picked this date for myself, my girlfriend, and 3 other couples. This is literally the only week that works for all of us due to different job/life schedules. To top this off, I got everyone's balcony for 1050CAD pp which is a steal. A $100 OBC wouldn't come close to making up for my losses on this one. I would be devastated to find out that this cruise got chartered.

Having a "pre-release" for companies to charter the cruises would make much more sense.

  2. clearly you have never seen the driving conditions and attitudes of the drivers in Jamaica. it really IS a lot more dangerous there than in any major metropolitan city in the US, including the Big ones like DC where accidents happen hourly.

I was there last year. Personally, I didn't think it was that crazy. I have seen much, MUCH, worse, but that's beside the point.

I stand by my thinking that it's a drastic decision to decide against excursions. This is the first fatality for a Royal Caribbean Excursion in how long? I honestly don't know, but I would be willing to bet that the probability of dying on a tour van in a Royal Caribbean Excursion is no higher than the chances of dying on your morning commute to work.

  3. Any details as to what happened ? what tour etc?

I will be there next month and will be worried about taking tours.

A little drastic don't you think? Are you worried about driving in your home town every day? Without even knowing where you are from I can pretty well guarantee there has been at least one fatal accident this year somewhere in your area.

Accidents happen. It absolutely sucks that it happened to people who were on vacation. I guess that's why you should enjoy the time you have, because you really never know what could happen.

  4. I happen to agree with you 100%...enough to completely avoid booking Harmony if the final version is as illustrated. The wonderful ocean view from the AquaTheater forward or Boardwalk back are destroyed with these plastic slides.

I just don't understand this viewpoint.

The Aquatheatre views won't really be obstructed so the only real concern is the boardwalk balcony views. I don't book a boardwalk balcony for ocean views. The ocean views aren't even good from there and you are better off in an interior cabin with a window to be quite honest. The board walk views are the sights and sounds of the onboard activities. If your primary concern is to see the ocean, then I would suggest that an oceanview balcony is what you should be purchasing.

  5. He's awesome. I was sitting on the track one afternoon and Drew passed by. He stopped for a chat with me even though we had never met before. He really had no obligation to talk since he initiated the conversation. Seemed like a pretty friendly guy to me.

  6. I am obviously in the minority, but wonder why people need the cooler in the first place - technically you are not supposed to bring drinks on board and I use an ice bucket to cool my wine that I carried on. True refrigerators are provided if you need to refrigerate meds. So what goes in the cooler that necessitates emptying?

Every night myself and my girlfriend have to go to the Café and fill up 8 glasses of water. We then carry them upstairs (we typically get a few funny looks) and put them in the cooler. My gf has a bladder condition in which she needs to drink a lot more water than the average person. Those 8 glasses will be consumed that night right before bed and the morning before we head down for breakfast.

With that being said, I have never been overcharged. I put everything back in the cooler at the end of the cruise.

  7. I don't understand why people even use travel agents? What's the purpose? Is it just for people with more disposable income and no desire to book things themselves?

I booked a group cruise myself for the Harmony in 2017. Took me about 10 minutes to get everyone done. Once the time comes I'll link all our accounts and get tickets for the same shows and have the same meal times.

I would hate to depend on someone else to do it for me. I would find it stressful to not have complete control over my booking

  8. Windjammer and the MDR were better than dinner in the Solarium Bistro? That was not our feeling at all last month on Oasis.

Yeah all four of us were disappointed. I'm normally not one to complain as I'm easily satisfied, but the steak I had tasted like a rubber boot haha. We were all so excited to eat somewhere fancier but ended up leaving and going to the windjammer to fill up. The atmosphere was really nice and I loved the deserts that's were available.

  9. BOGOHO has been on for ages. Honestly, the best thing to do it to ignore the "sales" and just check the price of your cruise every 2-3 days. That's what I always do and every time I manage to get my cruise for a much cheaper price than what I initially paid.

Even though the sale remains the same, the base prices change pretty frequently
