  1. Doesn't it show in your cruise planner? I know for the 5 cruises in ours it shows the time for each different sailing under the sailing (for traditional and the one my time it just says my time) Our March Oasis we had 8:30pm or October Oasis was 8pm, but they both showed in our cruise planner as that time so we booked shows around it accordingly.

  2. It's not a dinner, it's just a party with small snacks and cocktails. It starts at 10:30pm goes until 12:30 am. We've done it twice. First time was great. Dance lessons, games, costume contest, staff was fun and interactive, servers were bring drinks around.

Second party this past October was horrible. Staff didn't want to be there. There was a quick dance lesson, then it was "photo op time " which just meant they put a chair in the middle of the dance floor for 45 minutes while the staff AND the Band sat at a booth in the corner. Came back did a two minute game, introduced themselves by their real names and event was over. Got a drink when we entered and never saw a server again (there's no bar to walk up to in the place ) I'm not a complainer but if you're going to charge me $35 for a party then at least have staff that are able to fake having a good time and a band that plays for more that 30 minutes of a 2 hour party

  3. It would be nice if they updated it on the site, we were not going to book it on our October trip because it said it wasn't included. When we were making our reservations day one she said we were more than welcome to dine there as one of the nights. They also allowed friends to use one of their nights to do the brunch and galley tour. (We'd done it the previous trip and didn't want to do it a second time)

  4. We have never used the packages but are looking at them for Allure in the fall. We usually eat at 4 or 5 of the specialty restaurants. Just so I get this straight, would not want to give wrong information to the DW you know.

We book the 5 night package for example. They book us for the first or second night in a specific restaurant. Once on board we will receive a list of all the reservations and we can then make adjustments to both the time and location if they are available? We like 150 and would like to do it twice for example. I assume they do not book you into the same location twice so we could drop one and double up on another? Thanks for the help and information.

To be honest they say they choose the first night (or second whichever you reserved) restaurant but day trip they did not have ours picked . We stopped by And made the reservations when we got on, took just a few minutes and booked where and when we wanted. Yes you can do each restaurant a few times I you want [emoji846]

  5. I was in Curacao last week and saw construction material being placed for expanding their pier. The tourguide we had that day said it was to attract today's bigger ships. I haven't looked but with Freedom moving to San Juan, is Curacao on any of her itineraries yet?

We are on her 10/18 and go to Curaco (st. Thomas, st Maarten and the ABC's)

  6. How's the bacon on Oasis (serious question)? Was on Norweigan Getaway summer of 2014 and again on summer of 2015. Their bacon sucked (never thought I'd ever use "bacon" and "sucked" in same sentence).

Only problem I ever had with the bacon on Oasis was our first cruise in her and we were in the MDR, we ordered off the menu and I asked for a side of bacon (you know a couple of pieces) the guy brought me a plate loaded with bacon - must have been a full pound there [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] the table next to me just started laughing (I'm 5'5" and 135 pounds)

  7. We had a discussion about this with a crew member our last cruise. He said selling the packages online with a discount is the best thing for that Royal has done for the customer but it hurts the crew since they don't get the gratuity they would with the full priced package onboard. I told him I'd compensate him well but I can definitely see how it would affect them overall.

I'm just hoping that the gratuity charge we see purchasing online actually goes to the crew...

Honestly the difference in gratuity between buying in advance and on board is around $1 per person per day....which we tip more than that extra per day

  8. I know last Black Friday they ran a 30% off. We sail Harmony on 3/17/18 and are kinda waiting to see if they do that again

My thoughts too. I'm planning on the highest price considering it's Spring Break time.

We sail in March and October each year and usually pay the same for the drink package . Our October was actually higher last year than our March because we got the Black Friday sale for march not October

  9. We usually wait till we are onboard anyway. The first bar we go to we just buy it. Just be careful not to get any drinks from the waiters before you sign up.

I know now that they run the sales if you buy in advance and now that they let you access your on board credit before sailing a lot of people like to save the $50-90 by buying it before sailing.

  10. Until they change it again.

Exactly! Back in September they let people dine there for free, by October when we were on they stopped and just lowered it to $20. Then we were on in March and it was free for My time dining people but not traditional dining guests. The photo I added showing ($) for it was actually from the April 9th, 2017 sailing. So it's really hard to say what it will actually be for any sailing. Can't look in my planner because our next 4 trips are Freedom, Harmony or Empress. We love Oasis, but I doubt we will be sailing on her again as long as she is in Port Canaveral.

  11. Right! And you don't have to worry about trying new things either. We got quite daring trying new drinks. Some drink with tomato and bacon in it LOL. And no, it wasn't very good. We love the specialty coffees too!

Us too, we've tried a lot of thing we normally wouldn't have, and on some days there's definitely an extra espresso drink or 2 [emoji23] on sea days there may be a mimosa (though he liked the spiked coffees at Promenade Cafe lol)

  12. That's exactly why I do it too. Do I get my money's worth? Probably not, but I would like to think it's pretty close. I think some days we do and some days we don't.

Exactly our thoughts, we pay in advance it's usually $10-14 cheaper than buying on board. Between a specialty coffee at breakfast $5, a cappuccino with dessert $4, several. Bottles of water $10 (and going low there I drink 8-10 a day), a soda at lunch $3, already at $22 without a cocktail. One drink by the pool $10, pre dinner martini $12, something at dinner or the show $10-$24. Already at $44 before sitting down to dinner and having 2 drinks at that point. $44 is what we've paid for our package in advance. Even on port days that doesn't change much. We don't drink in port, as we are usually snorkeling or something so we still grab coffee at breakfast, a water then a few waters to take with us, when we get back on the ship we usually grab another water and a frozen drink on our way to the cabin..

I get it doesn't work for every one-that's why it's optional to purchase it. If it doesn't work for you, you can pay as you go. If you have a huge bill at the end, well then there's your answer for next trip.
