Thank you Mr Matta ! 😎 Crazy day at work and I brought the furry child (Thunder) with me for his annual wellness. One dog I can normally count on to be chill here at the clinic and he is being a noisy guy. So embarrassing 😋

Can’t be perfect all of the time!

thank you, BellKat, if you don't mind I'm going to lurk on your roll call a bit 🙂  I don't like the idea of missing muster, even if I have permission, I think we'll drop off early & then just be back before the 3:30 muster.   Either that or we'll just board & head straight to the pool, which is what DH will probably want to do 🙂

Lurk away! We have quite a few very knowledgeable people, or people who are willing to delve into issues, on our roll call. Plus a couple of travel agents 😉

  3. We are on the June 3rd cruise and your information is correct. It has to do with the manifest. You can make arrangements to leave the ship & miss muster but you will still be required to make up the muster drill the next day. We have people on our cruise with the same issue. Make sure you get WRITTEN permission to do this so there are no issues. Check our roll call - there has been a lot of discussion regarding this issue.

I ordered a relief band online before I left..forget the brand name right now, it was baby blue and used often for pregnancy nausea.  Tried it on and it was suggested I try the settings before using it for real.  I put it on low, the feeling for me was quite strong, left it on for a couple minutes then had to remove it.  I spent the next two days with nausea and headaches.  Pharmacist told me I probably activated some nerves in the area which caused the feel of motion sickness.  Also said there was a reason these were not sold in Canada.

Seas were reasonably calm except for between Cozumel and the Caymans.  You are right!

So sorry you had a back reaction to it. It was a lifesaver for me on an excursion - I was hanging over the side of the boat for a good 2 hours, got a severe sunburn. Then a friend gave me her band to try & it was like a miracle! Five minutes later I’m bouncing around looking for food.

  5. I highly recommend a ReliefBand which can be purchased on Amazon. It gives you an electrical impulse that you can set at different rates. You start at 1 and can move to 5. I love this item as there is no medication & it doesn’t affect your sleep or drinking. I take it with me every time we sail but I rarely seem to need it any longer. If we go out on a smaller boat for an excursion, that is when I am most likely to need it.

I agree with another poster that you really should get yourself checked out. On a ship the size of the Equinox (love Celebrity’s S class ships) you really should not be that affected. But you may just be one of the unlucky ones who is highly susceptible to motion.

My fave is purple. I noticed that on my iPad. It has only been the CC upgraded to the "new and improved" version where I can't figure out how to even fix my avatar. So what does this one do?

    No script (cursive) this time!

E-sigs are treated just like cigarettes for a lot of reasons.  They are prohibited nearly every place cigarettes are prohibited.

We were on Summit & actually saw someone trying to sneak an e-cig just outside the Redenvous Lounge. One our of group went out to report it but no one came to investigate. This was inside!

Have an amusing wee story for you! While cruising down the Red Sea on the Constellation one evening last week, Uwe and I were coming down in the lift from the Reflection Lounge after cocktails when an American lady said "I know your face! Were you on that cruise with Jim Something-or-other?" I loved it! You're famous all over the world, Jim!

Bob, we wish you and Holly a wonderful retirement. To your good health and happiness!

    Morven

That is funny! I don’t know if Jim being famous is good thing or a bad thing!

We were on the Summit for 2 weeks at the beginning of October.  We definitely found the bar service to be extremely slow in all the lounges.  However in the MDR for late traditional seating we had a great person who took care of us for beer and drinks.  Whenever one was finished he was there immediately to see if we wanted another.  Also had good bar service in the theater for any of the shows both in the afternoon and the evening.  We did noticea reduced number of staff in the buffet area but they were always busy clearing tables and helping any passengers that needed assistance so no complaints about them at all..

Anyone on that cruise who had early seating or anytime dining and went early experienced poor service in the MDR. The average age was much higher than we have previously experienced and most of the ship seemed to want to eat early. Others that we talked to who ate late said the MDR was almost empty. Hence, you lucked out with good service. We both caught colds & weren’t feeling like spending time in the MDR a couple of nights. We tried the buffet & couldn’t find anyone to even ask for wine or a drink! The staff was great in the morning though. Especially the singing coffee waiter! Always gave me a chuckle. But overall, there was definitely not enough staff. Especially after a bunch of them got off the ship to move to the Edge (per a staff member).

  10. Our sea passes were loaded on our just completed Summit Canada/NE cruise. We never used it since we had a beverage package. You are limited to certain drinks & have to tell bartenders that is what you are ordering.lt did not apply in the restaurants.

  11. Our TA is not sure that the hotel or restaurant will ever be the same after our ‘gang’ from CC leave 🤣[emoji39]

The restaurant has survived two of our groups so I think they’ll be okay. Not sure what hotel you’re staying in.

Susan- we recently met a couple at our agency, had dinner with them last night as they wanted to discuss their upcoming Panama Canal cruise with us since we’ve been twice. Surprise! I just discovered you are on their cruise. They are Kathy & Dick and live here in Redmond, WA. Her name is Cruise Critic name is KathyKK.

  13. Frankly, I doubt that they would have beaten us by more than 30 minutes, getting to EWR by 9:30 and still having airport security to deal with. And that was with everything working perfectly. Previously, we have waited nearly two hours after docking in Bayonne to even begin any disembarkation. If you want to book a 10 a.m. flight, that’s your choice but you’d better have a back-up plan.

I totally agree with you. We once sailed into San Diego & due to Customs issues, no one was allowed to leave the ship until almost 9:30 am!! Boy were we sweating it. We had a 10:30 am flight & made it by 5 minutes!! It’s only about a 15 minute drive to the airport & everyone rushed us through at the airport. I never want to repeat that again.

  14. A friend of mine used the older version (in your link) and it saved her life for cruising (along with her marriage!) - I held out for the newer version which looks very similar to a large "fitbit" - same principle.....works great for me on curvy roads; haven't had the chance to use on ships yet

definitely is more expensive; unfortunately not really sure of the difference between versions

Thanks. I bought mine a long time ago & it was really expensive - more expensive than the new version. I’m considering getting the new version since mine is pretty old.

  15. Just a reminder that if you are on Medicare, you are NOT covered outside of the United States. Be very careful when considering insurance. And anyone over 65, really should get medical insurance that will cover your medical expenses as well as evacuation expenses. One evacuation can cost you upwards of $100,000.

  16. I highly recommend this https://www.amazon.com/ReliefBand-Motion-Sickness-Device-Batteries/dp/B00VU8XXBE/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1535247833&sr=8-3&keywords=relief+band+motion+sickness&dpID=31y-C8KN2VL&preST=_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I was once on a tour in a “pirate” boat in the swells; so sick for over an hour; finally someone noticed & gave them their band; within 5 minutes I was perfectly fine & complaining about being starving! Never leave home without it now. There is a newer version also but haven’t tried it.

  17. Technically you could afford it, because it is discretionary spending. You might lose out on a trip, but you won't be homeless or starve because of the loss of a trip. Otherwise you shouldn't be spending it so.

I get the coverage for trip cancellation and trip delay from the CC I use. At no cost to myself. Even though such losses tend to be low frequency events (1 claim in over 40 international trips).

I do have an annual travel medical and evacuation policy.

Wow - that is pretty harsh. If someone has saved & saved to take a trip and has a catastrophic event, then what? Just too bad, so sad? I’m sure our friends would not like that attitude.

  18. EXACTLY my point. But it's not just Medicare that doesn't cover anything outside the USA. Many (most?) policies offered as group or individual policies do not. And most people don't know it AND don't realize the financial risk of needing medical or evacuation from overseas. Even worse, most people believe the really waste of money policy purchased from the cruise line does cover medical. Guess what, folks? It maxes out at 10k (occasionally 25k) which is peanuts.

For those who don’t purchase any kind of insurance, what would you do if you couldn’t take the cruise? You are driving in your car, are t-boned, severely injured & now can’t go on the cruise (recently happened to someone we know). Final payment has been made. You are now out thousands of dollars. Can you afford this? You can buy policies that will cover this possibility. We now purchase one that covers this & medical since we are now on Medicare.

Also, if you purchase insurance through the cruise company, check & see if they cover you if you go off the ship for any reason - just taking a walk - instead of a cruise sponsored shore excursion. You may be surprised at what you find.

  19. Guess whom I heard from today? Bob (bob221b1)! He called to check on my progress. What a nice surprise! As I told Bob, I am feeling a little better each day. I still have a way to go before I am back up to speed, but I can tell that I am improving slowly but surely every day! It is so good to know that people care about you. That means a lot! I wish all of you good health and happiness, and I hope to see all of you again some day soon on another cruise or trip.

"Happy trails to you, until we meet again..."

    Judy

Bob let us know he talked to you today. How is your lung? I hope it has finally got back to normal.
