Wow, no bathrobes! Next we might have to take our own food on board!

My experience has been the adult only ships, where the majority of entertainers are similar, male/female ballad singers. Although very good in their own way, I do go and watch them, the variety is limited. This is not an outright criticism (heaven forbid, we should criticise P&O) but an observation, as the saying goes "you can't please all the people all of the time".

At risk of getting severely criticised, I am over 60, grew up in the 60's and 70's and music has always played a big part of my life. I play in a rock n roll band and enjoy music that is a bit more up-tempo, that doesn't mean I dislike all other music. I do raise my eyebrows (what's left of them) when people say, P&O cater for the over 60's. They don't.

You agreed with the statement about services being withdrawn when they have not been. The whole thread is based on false information which people have taken as fact.

Just remember, that while you do not agree with a statement, it does not make that statement false[emoji27]

Why because you joined on with a thread knocking P&O which was false, again.

No, I gave an opinion, which even you, ought to agree on. Certain things have changed, either for good or bad. In my opinion, and others agreed, sometimes they seem unnecessary. If you don't like my opinions and if they don't agree with yours, accept it that's life!

Could you qualify that comment in a manner that is understandable.

Once again, because someone doesn't agree with you sink to sarcasm. I hold by my comment, some of the ships have become floating Blackpools and some services have been reduced, dress codes etc. I'm sorry if you don't agree.

Totally agree, gradually little by little P & O have eroded what cruising was all about and introduced floating Blackpools. There is room, surely, within the fleet to accommodate that level of service, dress codes etc. But, it all boils down to profits of course.

Well that's fine by me. Include the tips and do away with the OBC. We normally book an inside, so OBC is minimal anyway. And yes, I would still give a small something to our steward and waiters.
Yup, dead right

Just received new Fred O brochure. On the front it says "cruises 3 for 2 or tips included every cruise". I think this is the way it will go. No OBC but tips included.
Pando are going that way I think. OBC is gradually reducing, for us ordinary types, anyway

Every company, big or small, will at sometime have a problem. In my opinion, no business goes out of its way to create problems, but it is how they deal with the aftermath of the situation that marks them out.

Not good timing to start another thread within hours of the last one being pulled. A moderators nightmare. But there is no way I am going to stand by and let some of the posts on here go unchallenged.

How does the quote go "Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right"

Might be from you but not from the original poster.
I know him from past encounters. Of course it could be female.
BTW my commiserations if you are R&W. your lot are in a worse place than ours were.

The simple answer is to leave the auto-tips because they are shared between those you mention and those you do not see.
Should you feel your waiters have gone the extra mile then by all means give them a little extra: most do and let's face facts, one's not too short of a bob or two if one can afford a 35 night cruise.
While not in possession of all the facts I would imagine most folk on this cruise had a damn site more than the value of the auto-tips added as On Board Credit.
What an arrogant comment. We are going on a 24 night cruise in 2018, and are having to save up for that period. No not a lot of onc, but then we are not in a suite.

No, I tip myself. The job of looking after the staff is PandOs not mine.

It's not that people don't care, more that people want more control. Particularly those who don't get lots of obc

... and most people make up "facts" to suit their argument.
Like all the other bull that comes on here. Nobody knows how auto tips are distributed, but still they make assumptions. The poor overworked, under nourished, under paid staff have an option, so do I. Some people have a problem accepting other people's opinion. You leave tips on fine, I choose to tip how I want

No, prices will increase regardless. It is inevitable, P and O are a money making organisation and need to make profits to satisfy shareholders and to develop their product. I am not getting into whether these increases are correct. But get off your high-horse and accept the fact that more people take off the auto tips than pay them. T

Tipping
in P&O Cruises ( UK )
Posted
Just had an all-inclusive holiday to Spain 5 star. No suggestions of tipping. Majority of staff were Eastern European. How many use their on-board credit or shares to pay for their tips?
