Carnival has to improve its "safety record"? How so?
They had those 2 incidents a few yrs ago with the propulsion issues ... and RC has had a few issues there too -- so give that a break.
Dear F27TW here's your answer[emoji4]
Dismal safety record
The chairman of the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Senator Jay Rockefeller, has written to the CEO of Carnival expressing his concerns about their “dismal safety record”.
“90 serious events … have occurred on your cruise ships, jeopardizing the safety and lives of those onboard, and prompting Coast Guard marine casualty investigations. These incidents include groundings, collisions, allisions [the striking of one ship by another], engine room and generator fires, propulsion and electrical system failures that have left ships adrift at sea, and other critical onboard system failures.”
The Senator refers to an “alarming number of onboard fires, major system malfunctions and human errors … have occurred on Carnival’s ships since 2008.” Despite that, he says there is “no evidence that the company has undertaken any meaningful course of corrective action to improve its safety record.”
And of course the Costa Concordia disaster.

Carnival would have to improve its safety record for us to even consider it. Majesty and Oasis give the option of a smaller or large ship at PC. We also have the option of Celebrity at Ft Lauderdale. Carnival would be at the bottom of our list.

I am also interested in that excursion.

We just got back from a Bahamas cruise. Nassau had breezes and was OK though hot. Coco Cay was unbearable hot with no breeze. I have a hold on a 7 night cruise to the Western Caribbean, but not sure if I will take a pass.

Reservations have to be checked and double checked, whether using a TA, onboard or online. The onboard agent gave me a room on Oasis that was not connecting on her deck map. But later I checked online and the cabin was connecting which I did not want. Called RC and they fixed it. Would not be a happy surprise otherwise.

We were told everyone had to be off the ship by 9am. If I remember correctly, we had to show our sea card as we left, so they will know who is still onboard. The MDR and Windjammer were open until 8am for breakfast and we finished eating around 8:30, went back to our cabin, then took our luggage off the ship. Service was good the last day in the MDR.

Jay blue , if the new section is like the rest of the ship you will be happy.

The cabins need updating, but the rest of the ship was nice. Excellent shows and service.

I got my wish: Oasis is coming to Port Canaveral and the prices are lower.

Priority check in (gold member) saved about 20 minutes in line. Worth it to me.

I can get into Plan a Cruise on my iPad and Kindle Fire , but sometimes I get the message "problem loading page" when I am ready to book and then the first page reloads.

Wife and I (mid 70's) decided to book a short 3 day cruise to the Bahamas to see if we would enjoy cruising. Ship was Enchantment of the Seas.
BOOKING. Three weeks before departure on July 10, 2015 used the RCL website to book our cruise. Website was easy to use and to print cruise documents.
PORT CANAVERAL. Parking garage close to cruise terminal one. Slightly larger than airline carrier luggage went smoothly through security with two bottles of wine and six pack of water. Check in took about 20 minutes. Next time will be C&A gold and can use priority check in.
BOARDING. No lines but a long walk from check in counter.
STATEROOM. Ocean view deck 3 mid ship for smoothest ride. Room was clean, but needs updating: scuffs on furniture, drawer bottom peeling, stained shower curtain, rust on shower head and holes in wall fabric. AC kept the room cool and worked well.
MAIN DINING ROOM. Clean and elegant. Wife was impressed with table settings and the way our excellent waiter served our food. Food was good. Tipped our waiter extra.
WINDJAMMER CAFE. Great panoramic view. Buffet had wide variety of cafeteria quality food. Good wait staff promptly cleaned tables.
ENTERTAINMENT. Theater was impressive. Seats were comfortable. Saw two high quality shows: comedian/juggler and colorful musical. Way above our expectations.
SEA SICKNESS. Had sea bands and Dramamine, but didn't need them. Sailing was smooth and no bumping when docking. Stable as being on land.
SUMMARY. Enjoyed cruise. Rate it 4/5. Booked future cruises on Freedom of the Seas. Oasis and one with Celebrity.

We always get insurance from RC when we book. One medical evacuation could cost upward of $10,000.
