I don't need Internet service, but would like to text home and receive texts.

How would I go about setting this up and how would my phone need to be set in settings so I do not incur any phone call charges?

I have Verizon service

We just sailed the Elation in March.....and will sail Dream in November....like cruising from New Orleans.

We enjoyed the Elation very much.....smaller sometimes in quite nice....only thing I really missed was the outdoor theater......at night watching a movie under the stars in quite nice and relaxing....sometimes a litte chilly though :)

You will enjoy the trip....how can you not like a cruise anytime??????

thanks....its for my daughter, I don't get seasick.....but she may and I don't want her to not enjoy the cruise. I find that cruise north or south is never a problem, but sometimes going across the gulf east or west does tend to make people queszy sometimes.

Does Dramamine work well if taken at bedtime instead of morning? Don't want to feel sleepy during the day but also don't want to have motion sickness either.

So I am "assuming" that if you buy the package you keep your phone on AIRPLANE mode mode and turn on wi-fi mode and communicate that way.......

texting works in wi-fi mode also ?

What is the social media pkg, and do all ships have it ?

We are on Elation next week and then the Dream in November.

Do you sign up with AT&T frist or is this something that is always avail?

Also what mode do you keep your phone in while texting? Don't want to be charged a bunch for any downloads but want to receive and send texts.

Can you send pictures too in the texts or is that something that will cost much more.

New to all this as you can see.

what is the cost of the wine testing I see on the daily listing of things to do?

I think the FOOD taste bar is free, but I am sure the wine taste would not be.

I was thinking it was 5-6 blocks and kind of uphill.....might not be easy with luggage.

Last time we stayed in N.O. I believe the streetcar went directly to the port, but can't remember which street it stopped at for Carnival.....was it the Julia St. stop ?

We are flying in a day early and wonder what is the best way to get from airport to Sheraton on Canal St.

from the hotel you should be able to take the streetcar for a couple bucks.....stops right a Julia Street I believe.

what good is priority boarding if you can't drop off your carry ons when you board?

can you just walk around the area and shop, eat and maybe sit on the beach for awhile, or should we sign up for a beach excursion ?

We are going in a few weeks and it's my daughter and myself and taking a 15 yr old granddaughter. Really don't want to go to the ruins. Would like to just see the area if it's safe for us.

any info greatly appreciated.

I was so disappointed this year when I added up my days and with my upcoming cruises it comes to 74 days......just short of Platinum.

Under old program I would have been........but 2 cruises we opted for 5 days with land based hotels connected with them for a variety...........had I known they were gonna change to days instead of cruises I would have gotten one more day in there.

Oh well a day late and a dollar short.....always!!!!

we sail March 7th. This will be my 10th Carnival cruise but first on Elation. Only other smaller ship was the Sensation. Really like the less crowded ships for sure, so hopefully this will be fun. All cruises are fun.....lol

It's my daughter and granddaughter (15) this trip and can't wait to sail again from New Orleans. Going down day before so we can enjoy lunch at Mother's and eating benighs and walking the Riverwalk. Gotta love that city !!!!
