  1. The terminal where Epic is supposed to board from is not quite done yet. This week, she will go out of Terminal 1. Hopefully, Terminal 10 will be completed for her second sailing.

My eDocs say terminal 5 as of a few days ago when I printed them out. But any which way I have a shuttle from the Doubletree hotel where I am parking my car and they should know on the 21st of January I guess!

  2. Good idea...re: drink package.....as it is not always the case that you can just walk in (ie not be actively gambling) and get a drink....also...as you said good for pool, dinner and shows...ALSO...on port intensive cruises the casino is not open as much..and drinks would have to be purchased elsewhere anyway.

I had gotten a free cruise from Caesars Entertainment through my play at Horseshoe Tunica Casino and was given a casino drink card when I registered for a players card and the waitress would take the drink card to cover the drinks.

  3. possible reason you are not getting an answer:

NCL currently has no presence in PC ....

they were seasonal in the past but right now a non-entity ....

SOOOOOOOOOOO .... you'll just have to wait until EPIC arrives I suppose .... when is that?

Epic should be in Port Canaveral now.

  4. Ever? Before Princess had restrictions on wine we brought boxed wine aboard including Black Box (equal to 4 bottles) and once brought a box of Italian wine (purchased in Venice) that had 5 bottles in the box. But now, the policy is 750 ML per person...and then you pay the corkage fee. Not sure how they would deal with the boxes...but suspect you might get nailed with corkage on anything over 750ml per person.

    Hank

Norwegian says no box wine. And if you bring on a 5th bottle they charge $15 corkage fee per bottle no matter where you drink it.

  5. Interesting - I did not know that about the free drinks in the Casino.

About two months ago we took the "free" cruise offer from the Casino and reserved an Ocean View on the Gem's 10/15 sailing. We were offered one choice (of the four) and took the drink package.

The original "free" offer was for an inside room but for something ridiculous like an extra $20 total, we were given an OV room; the balcony upgrade would have been something like $500 more.

I don't recall being told about free drinks in the Casino - although I still would have opted for the free drink package for pool, dinner and show purposes. Thanks for letting me know about the free water with the certificate - I'll make sure that I use the cert in the Casino.

I was going to say, unless you are going to not drink outside of the casino you might want to keep the UBP. I read that you thought I'd that too! Good luck in the casino and enjoy your cruise! Rob

  6. If NCL gave you 4 dinners free and 2 free as perks for platinum, how did they put it on your account? Were you given them as specialty dinning pkg comped for all of them or 4 and 2 night pkgs comped on your account? If that was the way they did it and I think they should have, then you should be able to call in at day 100 with a suite and have an agent place the dinners on whatever days and times you want them with no money exchange at all. It may be easier than using the site.

  7. Although fruit and yogurt are evidently included in continental breakfast on Escape and maybe the other mega ships they are NOT included on Jewel, Jade and probably the other smaller ships. Those are limited to coffee/tea, juice and pastries/muffins.

I didn't see yogurt or fruit listed for the continental breakfast onboard the Breakaway last Nov when I ordered it on one of my cruise days.

  8. Our Haven suite for two is costing just a tick over $4,000 for two of us included in fare is Spa Package, Use of Haven Courtyard and Restaurant, UBP, 4 nights specialty, gratuities, Wi-Fi, and taxes and port fees. I am quite happy about not needing to pay a $10 room service fee. So I pay 2 times what you pay.

So actually, paying two tines what a two person stateroom cost actually means that your freebies are included in what you are paying, not freebies! They couldn't sell your bed for the price you paid without making you feel like they are adding freebies.

Actually, I got the UBP included in the $900 I am paying in a Studio room. All in all, I don't mind the extra cost of things if it's something that is extra. Bringing bottled water onboard shouldn't be prohibited so they can charge $47/case.

  9. We've never felt the need to eat in any of the Specialty restaurants and never paid for the upcharge lobster tail or steak in the MDR...and we've enjoyed every meal. On lobster night, they are free. I have a 22 year old grandson who is skinny, but LOVES to eat. He has been Diamond on his own status since he was 16 and on our last cruise, he had 4 lobster dinners, 2 appetizers (he loves the escargot) and 2 desserts in the MDR...ALL FREE. He gets the escargot every night...in multiples because he says it's better than at any restaurant on land where he's had it. I go to the Promenade Cafe for a quick sandwich or a dessert during the day or late at night or maybe a morning snack before everyone is ready to go to breakfast. I love having breakfast in the MDR. Part of our group loves the Windjammer and they go there (ALL FREE).

We pay for the soda card, buy our drinks by-the-drink because we don't drink enough to break even with the drink package. We bring two bottles of wine on board (yes, allowed), and get a couple of wine glasses from our steward. We order from room service (free) and have cheese and fruit with our wine, along with the dip and tortilla chips (free). Other than gratuities, there no obligation or really any need to buy anything else, for us at least.

I would hate to go on a cruise or a land vacation that I was already deeming to be a waste of my money. For us, it's a great vacation. I hope you'll let us know when you return, if you have had a change of heart and mind. I can't imagine not having a good time on a cruise.

No free roomservice on NCL. The meal is free but convenience charge you pay per trip.

  10. I was on Getaway a few years ago and this was the case, but when I booked my upcoming Escape cruise, I asked the NCL agent about this, and she wasn't sure if singles in other cabin categories are allowed into the Studio lounge for happy hour.

Do you know for certain that it's doable on Escape?

I wonder about this too as when the Solo lounge is mentioned on NCL. com they say the lounge is for Studio Room occupants only to add to their socializing and fun. Though if the food and drink in the lounge was not available because of non solo passengers accessing the lounge that would detract from the value I paid for. If maintained well enough and I saw no loss I wouldn't sweat it.

  11. IMHO the cruise next program is awesome!!! I have purchased them on my last two sailings with NCL. It is nice to know I have my deposit money at any time I see a great deal on a cruise. They can be used regardless of where or who you book your NCL cruise through. They have been running a special promotion that allows you to use two cruise next deposits instead of just one. The crew member at the cruise next desk on board told me about it on my last cruise.

I wonder why NCL doesn't put that out? I was never told that on my last cruise or I would have gotten more than one! Getting the onboard credit for purchasing them is very nice! I was told that each $250 next cruise deposit was to be used on separate future cruises.

  12. I was on this sailing in a solo cabin. I can confirm that the solo gathering was definitely open to all solo traveler's. Jojo, our host, made sure the door to the lounge was open during the evening "meet & greets" so those without key access could get in.

We had people we saw every night and some who came & went. But it was a fantastic thing for solos. I had dinner most nights with a group of fun folks (all ages). We even got seated right next to the stage for the Motown Dinner show in Manhattan Dining room. It actually seemed like we got priority seating/treatment with our little solo group.

I have nothing but effusive praise for the solo program and plan on solo travel with Norwegian again. Unfortunately, Jojo is leaving the Escape but I'm sure they will get another wonderful host.

Excellent! That is very nice to hear. I am going to be Solo cruising in a studio room on the Epic next January and I will seek out this host or director and see about these meetings. Thanks

  13. The Casino certificates work differently because you don't book guarantee cabins, you can choose your cabin. So if you upgrade you can keep your promo. Guaranteed cabins are now excluded from the Free at Sea promos so it makes sense that the OP would lose his/her promo when upgrading. One option is to upgrade to a regular mini-suite and not a guarantee, but that's probably more than $150/pp.

I understand what you are saying about the guaranteed cabins, but I was told by the NCL agent that the certificate came with an inside room but I could upgrade for a cost and that did not lose my UBP which was part of the certificate offer. So the certificate allowed a room upgrade at my expense.

  14. Hi All, please advise....

We are booked on Breakaway departing 10/2. We have a standard routine... We book an inside cabin when we decide we want to go, but then keep our eyes open for a good deal on an upgrade the first chance we get. So, that's what happened. We saw a great deal for a mini-suite at $150.00 more pp than we paid originally. Now, even though we want to give them MORE money, they are telling us that if we upgrade, we lose our UDP and UBP. I could understand if we wanted to get a less expensive cabin, but I don't understand why they are telling us no. Doesn't make any sense. Would calling Latitudes help? Any words of wisdom in dealing with the overseas call center or are we better off seeing if we can do something on board?

Last year I had a casino certificate and it was for an inside room with free UBP and my brother and I decided to move to an Oceanview room and the agent just changed us to the upgraded room with no loss of the UBP drink pkg. We just paid the upgrade price and added insurance cost. So maybe you could speak with another agent that knows how to make that change of room without losing the drink pkg.

  15. Do you really need to get lobsters on a cruise ship? Come on, there are plenty of other things in the world to worry about.

It's greed like when they can't charge more for a product so they reduce the size. Taking away something expected and still charging for it IS greed. Missing a port visit due to weather is not the same as choosing not to serve an item that many cruisers expect on their prepaid cruises.

Nothing a few red pepper flakes couldn't have remedied !!!

  16. Ok just called NCL to clarify. Room service is free for suite and haven guests. So the wording on their website is wrong saying haven guests. It should say free fror suite and haven guests.

You never know if the reps at NCL know what they are talking about. A few I talked with before my last cruise had never been on a cruise! One said that their boss was just going on a cruise to pass along what he learns. One had to call other reps to get an answer.

  17. Another incorrect post. Read what you posted:

"Morning coffee, continental breakfast and orders placed by guests sailing in The Haven will not attract a charge"

I was on the Breakaway last Nov in an Oceanview room and ordered the morning continental breakfast of coffee and pastries and was not charged anything, NCL was just starting to charge $7.95 convenience fee for roomservice on menu items. Their site was confusing on that and mentioned that the fee was only late hours. I never ordered during those hours. I think the NCL site does say the convenience charge is a few more dollars for Haven and suite travelers. They don't sweat it as their cruise is four times what I pay anyway. Spending $8000 on a cruise why would they even be concerned with a $10 roomservice fee?
