  1. Jenna - I think the idea of beads is a good one. I wonder if only just a few of us are wearing beads would be sufficient for others to locate the group. I can't tell you how many "official" cruise line FOD (now LGBT) listed mixers I've gone down to at the advertised time only to find no one (at the Martini Bar, Cellar Masters or wherever). Probably not going to be a problem on this cruise though. Still it would be nice to have a way to easily spot the group since we blend in so well these days :). I'm leaving my rainbow caftan at home. That's a joke. I definitely DO NOT have a rainbow caftan.

I always go to the meets. And yes, sometimes only a few and other times 50. I go.

I am easy to spot. I am the one walking around with my shades on till I see the moon and my floppy hat pulled way down. Sort of like I am a CIA or MI6 spy. :D

  2. Okay, so I debated sharing the following (primarily because I'd prefer to ignore the people who cruise to complain about everything that's WRONG), however, there are some bad reviews of the Infinity perhaps coming out of dry dock too soon here: http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=196 Hopefully the problems cited will be resolved by the time we depart. Some were resolved during the first post-dry dock cruise.

I'm determined to have a good time even if the ship sinks. :D

I am always amazed at how some people bitch, bitch, bitch on a cruise. I think, HEY, YOU COULD BE WORKING IN A FACTORY PUTTING THE ENDS ON SHOE LACES! YOU'RE ON A CRUISE. I fought cancer and lost. (my husband) Then I go into my NEW YORK.......SHUT *_()^$^££^ UP. lol

I'm with you about having a good time. And if it sinks, WE BETTER MAKE THE FRONT PAGES OF NEWSPAPERS.

  3. Hope everybody in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration!

Looking forward to meeting you in person, Jenna, and getting to know Dee as well!

We DO have quite a few folks here. When we cruised in Asia in 2013, we had a large group that got together every evening at Cellar Masters. On other sailings, not so many people. Looking through this roll call, it seems like we have quite a number of singles as well, Jeff, Rodd, Bryan and Vince.

Just one more week until we sail! Wish everybody great Black Friday deals. My noise cancelling headphones broke; I hope I'll find a good deal online tomorrow. : )

    Thom

BOO HOO to the single thing.

Funny my noise headphones died on the flight over last week. Got my new Bose ones on Wednesday. lol Deals can be had.

  4. My partner Daniel and I will be on this cruise. We're celebrating our 30th anniversary together and looking forward to the cruise and our adventure after the cruise (flying back to Lima, staying in Cousco for several days as our base to explore Machu Pichu). Daniel is retired from Home Depot management and I'm retired early (57) from working as a litigation paralegal for (over the years) large Atlanta firms.

It would be nice to find some other folks to bum around with from time to time particularly on board, and if anyone is interested in forming a table at dinner together let us know. Regardless of whether we dine with other gay folks or not we always meet great people so not a real concern, although we would be interested in dining with the group or a part thereof if anyone is interested. I think we're in fixed dining, late seating but of course that could be changed.

The odd thing is, we always meet other gay folks on the cruise but rarely meet them at the "official" LGBT mixers on the ships daily schedule. I've rarely found anyone at the mixers but hopefully that will change with this cruise. I always enjoy my free time on board then gathering back with friends late in the day.

Attached is a photo of the two of us taken in Barcelona where we spent a week last year followed by a Celebrity transatlantic back to the states.

    Cheer!

Hi guys. Welcome to the fun group. Congrats on the 30 years. I am travelling with four friends whom I met cruising (!) several years ago. We cruise often. So friends CAN be made. We are still trying to work out our dining thing.

    See you next week. YIPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  5. We dress pretty (pun partially intended) "chic" everything. Dee is a bit upset as we don't dress up much so we like to in cruises...one reason we cruise. She's threatening to look at other lines and we've been pretty loyal to celebrity lately. I'm ambivalent. I'll wear what I want.

We're obviously not typical lesbians...typical anything really.

    Happy sailing,

    Jenna

Jenna. Well there goes my vision of tool belt, power tools and Doc M's. lol

All ships lines are heading this way. Even Cunard has relaxed their dress code and all hell has broken loose. Demographics. Business. This is a business that feeds upon itself. It needs new people every day. And the younger demographic does not like to dress. BUSINESS.

Celebrity Cruises Swaps Formal Nights for Evening Chic

    November 9, 2015

    Star Breeze in Portofino

(9 a.m. EST) -- Jackets and ties no longer will be required in the main dining room on select nights onboard a Celebrity Cruises sailing. The line is replacing formal nights across its fleet with more relaxed "evening chic" nights, starting in December.

The new dress code, which the line calls evening chic, is dressier than the "smart casual" attire recommended for most evenings but less dressy than formal attire. The change, driven by the line's evolving passenger mix, is designed to enable passengers to express their own sense of sophistication, Brian Abel, vice president of hotel operations for Celebrity Cruises told Cruise Critic exclusively. Where one couple might feel most glamorous in a tuxedo and gown, another might feel more elegant in a sport jacket and designer black jeans and a flirty sundress.

"As we're watching our guests, we see this is how they're vacationing. They are becoming more casual but at the same time, still sophisticated," Abel added. "They still want great food and great service, but they want to experience it in a more relaxed, casual way."

There is such a thing as too casual though. While designer-looking jeans will be acceptable, ripped jeans will not; nor will shorts and t-shirts be permitted in the dining room on evening chic nights.

Other long-time formal night traditions are evolving. Sparkling wine at the Captain's Reception will no longer be de rigeur; instead drinks (still free) will depend on your cruise destination. Sailing in the Caribbean, you might be treated to mojitos. Journeying through the Mediterranean? Bellinis might be passed around. (Sparkling wine will always be available for those who just can't go without, Abel said.)

Portrait opportunities on evening chic nights also will be expanded, with locations opened up on the Lawn Club (on Solstice-class ships) and other sophisticated venues. Another popular formal night tradition that will be expanded with evening chic nights is officer-hosted dining tables. But where previously only a Captain's Table was available, there will now be tables hosted by several officers ranking three stripes and above, such as the hotel director or guest relations manager, and tables will be at multiple dining venues on the ship.

"This gives more of our guests the opportunity to wine and dine with our officers," Abel said.

And have no fear, Abel emphasized: One of the most popular formal night traditions isn't going anywhere -- lobster will still be available on the menu on all evening chic nights.

Evening chic nights will be offered twice on sailings of seven nights or longer. They will roll out to the fleet, except onboard Celebrity Xpedition, on all sailings beginning on or after December 4.

  7. I leave for Cuba a week after getting back from this cruise. Did you do the Lois Crystal cruise or another way?

I'm not sure if I want to see your pics in advance, or see for myself when I go!

    Happy sailing,

    Jenna

No cruise. I did it all myself. Flew to Havana and stayed IN Havana the entire time. Loved it.

Good point. See it yourself I think is probably best. Just don't drink the water. lol

  8. we are so looking forward to it, Aqua Fest has lined up a bar cralw of sorts for us for our overnight stay in havana

I went to one club, LAS VEGAS. Sorta production show. Dancers, and the girls doing the usual. lol

BUT THE PLACE IS PACKEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. i started thinking, where is the fire exit. I just wanted to know. Friendly people. And then went up to the Malicon which is very gay there.

I am sure you will have a blast.

    Bryan

  9. Brian .... you are in too good of a mood and we are not even on the ship yet. Also on the other message board you said you just got back from Cuba ... I am very jealous! That is the next place on my bucket list.

No, not really. I've always been a bit happy and gay.

As for Cuba............on my bucket list since I was 16 years old. Just 10 years ago. I SAID 10 YEARS AGO!!!!

Now, I'm not one of those people who invites others over to see the vacation pics and vids and lock them in a room for 32 hours with stale pop-corn and no bathroom breaks. HOWEVER...........if you say pretty please with a cherry on top, I just might show you my I-pad with the photos and videos. No worry. I have the slide show on FAST!

  10. My husband and I booked this cruise long ago and we are just now getting around to looking at Cruise Critic posts.

It is hard to believe the cruise is only a month away! Looks like we have a lot of reading to do if we want to catch up on the main thread for this cruise as it looks like it has nearly 800 posts.

Greg and I are looking forward to meeting all of you onboard the ship, hopefully at the FOD meetings.

    Don

Hey there guys. Welcome as Liza said. lol. Fun group. Where ya from?

    One month tomorrow. YIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPE
