  1. Yes, you can get drinks with the drive know package. When we had our alcove the attendant kept us well supplied with bottled sparkling water and lemon wedges. They attendants are busy and we did not see ours often after he introduced himself so I generally just walked a few steps to the sunset bar for any drink service. The alcove includes a fruit platter and I understand that food can be ordered (for a charge) however we did not do this. It was very easy and convenient to just bring a plate up from the buffet.

  2. We booked an alcove last year for us and the couple we were cruising with. It is quite comfortable for four people. If I remember correctly the are 2 chairs and the chaise/loveseat. We never felt cramped. Also as you have it all day (9-9) if I remember we were not always all in there but used it as a spot to relax on deck when we were not involved in onboard activities. I do not believe that I saw anyone else bring in an extra chair. You could ask your attendant but I would not count on it. Here is a photo so you can see the space and furnishings.

  3. You will find many opinions on this topic. Most say that it is not worth it on a S class ship because there is no difference in cabin size. On M class ships the concierge class is slightly larger. Most say that the only benefit of any worth is the additional loyalty "captains club" points. I have only sailed Celebrity one time, being a RC crossover. I look at it as a "real estate" choice in that concierge is a cabin location that I like. Currently the 123 All In promotion gives it a better value. Most of the perks such as priority boarding and expanded room service menu are just marketing hype.

  4. HulaMoon,

Thanks for the report. We are anxious to hear about the ship and your ports. In regard to formal nights, I understand that it can change, I was just curious when they were on your sailing. When we sail next year we depart on Saturday and Valentine's Day is Sunday. I was just curious if there was currently a formal night on the second night. Can you also tell me when the muster drill is in relation to dinner? Just wondering if we will be enjoy our great aft balcony for our sailaway from San Juan or if we will be at dinner or muster drill. Enjoy the rest of your cruise, and especially the suite life. One day I hope to move up to there myself:rolleyes:

  5. We have this booked over Valentines day next year and want to make specialty dining reservations. Since there is only one sea day (formal nights are generally on sea days) can you please tell me when formal nights are. We are doing the itinerary with Fort de France. Thanks.

  6. We had an alcove last year on the Silhouette. It faces the lawn, but you see the ocean across through the other side. I will say it was well worth it for us. We enjoyed having deck space without having to fight for a chair. Very relaxing and quiet. Just a few steps from the Sunset Bar. We will miss it next year on the Summit.

  7. I have not tried the restaurants yet, as we do not sail until next week, but we have Murano booked for our special dinner. It was a toss up between Murano and Tuscan Grille for us. My DH is a bit of a foodie himself. The deciding factor for us was the menu. You can find the menus online on the Celebrity website. What I have gleaned from the boards is Tuscan Grill has the best view, but Murano is better food, however it is a close competition between the two on food. It depends on what is more important to you. As I said, viewing the menus helped us decide.

  8. I am not sure how far out they open the bookings. I booked in October for a January cruise and had no problem. I just called the main number from the website and told them I wanted to book alcoves. They transferred me to the proper department. I believe it was cruise enhancements or specialty dining. If you are a captain's club member I am sure you could use that number also and they will get you to the right department

  9. I cannot answer about the furniture as we do not leave on our cruise until the 19th, but as to how to book them, you need to call Celebrity directly. It is handled by the specialty dining desk. As to how many in each alcove, you might find that people will be coming and going all day to pools or other activities so you might not have overflow issues. When you book I would see if you can request that you have 2 next to each other. They appear to sit fairly close to each other.

  10. We are going to be sailing on the Silhouette in 2 weeks. We had planned to stay disconnected for the week, however due to job issues that is not going to be an option. We are looking to purchase a small internet package to just briefly check email daily and were wondering about the cost. Also, as select members (first cruise on Celebrity, but we have transferred status from Royal Caribbean) are there any discounts available? Is there anyone that is recently off a sailing that would have the answer to these questions?

Thank you in advance for your assistance

  11. "Next day in St. Kitts we walked around the town and headed back to the ship. I wont talk much about St. Kitts but I figure this is where I will include all the pictures I took of the Silhouette when it was empty."

We are going on the itinerary in two weeks and have never been to St Kitts, I am just curious why you do not have much to say about it. Did you not like the port?

  12. Let me see... $5 for a porter to move your bag from portside to a rollable cart vs. perhaps as little as $1 to a cruise guide who in most cases spends 2-5 hours with you, depending on the excursion? Am I the only one who finds this a bit disproportionate? Am I missing something here?

Do I believe this is a good system, definitely not. I believe the whole tipping thing is out of control, however that being said, it is the custom and these people count on the tips as part of their salary, and things are priced accordingly. I have children in the restaurant industry and their hourly wage is set at about $5.00 below minimum wage due to the management figuring tips into their pay. Not a good system, but the way it is, unfortunately.

  13. The "daily tips" are prepaid and nothing more is required. The additional tips that you might consider are room service if ordered it is customary to tip a dollar or two for the person that delivers it. Additionally when you drop off your bags a tip is customary for the porters. Generally I believe it us about $5 per bag. The other place that you might consider tipping is shore excursions. The guides will normally ask for tips for a good tour. We normally just do between $1-5 depending on the quality of the tour.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise.

  14. We have these booked on our Silhouette cruise coming up. We booked for 2 of the sea days so that we would not have to fight for deck space. The late arrival in San Juan and discounted port day price sounds like a perfect combination. Let us know how you like them. On a side note I am looking for advice for an appropriate tip for our alcove attendant for the day.
