  1. I am excited to be bringing my family onboard Grandeur in 2024 to celebrate some milestone birthdays.  I booked 6 cabins a year ago and placed only one person on each reservation.  There was a 100% single supplement added to the price of each cabin. Prices have increased quite a bit since the time I booked.  I will be adding an additional passenger to each of these reservations.  I am wondering if Regent will reprice the entire cabin at current prices or if I locked in the prices when I originally booked.  Does anyone have an experience in this area?

  2. Received this from Regent regarding an upcoming cruise in January.  Strange as we already have air reserved.  We also have upcoming cruises this November and next April and with our Platinum Status we don't normally get charged a fee for custom air, perhaps we will be paying now?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: NEW AIR RESERVATION POLICY

DATE OF ISSUANCE: OCTOBER 27, 2022

Dear Valued Guest and Travel Partner,

To deliver the best possible service to our guests and to align with partner airline policies we are revising our air reservation policy as of November 1, 2022.

From this date, custom air will only be reserved within 270 days for guests who have deposited their cruise and completed in full the “Guest Information Form” (GIF), including their name as per passport and date of birth.

In addition, all air reservations booked through Regent (custom or otherwise) that are inside 1 year of departure will require a $500 administration fee per passenger name change (including updating an incorrect spelling).

Thank you for your continued patronage, loyalty, and understanding as we continue to improve our custom air reservation policies and procedures.

Your Regent Custom Air Department Team

  3. We are Regent Platinum and recently tried Silversea Muse for a quick 7 day Alaska itinerary.  We were not impressed.  The restaurant situation is confusing at best, there is not clear "main dining room" wiht the expansive menu like Compass Rose.  French restaurant charged $60 pp and felt similar to Regent.  Spa was terrible, steam room didn't work.  Included wines -- not much selection that we liked.  One plus was the door to door service, we did enjoy the limousines.  Also, the pizza restaurant was to die for--amazing!  Exursions were comparable to Regent.  No shows at night.  No vibe at the bars at all.  Won't be booking another SS.

  4. We are excited to board Muse on Thursday and had two quick questions.  First--  I know they have Technogym equipment but does anyone know if there is a spin bike I can use that clips to my bike shoes?  Second-- we booked a GTY is there somewhere I can look to see if our cabin has been assigned without having to bother an agent at SS?

    Thanks in advance!

Sometimes it pays to read the small print.  Cruise segments, repeat segments, of 16 or more days' duration usually have two Formal Optional nights.  These are identified in the "Guest Statement" summary on a page titled:  "Cruise Itinerary".

These nights are, with rare exceptions, on the second night (night of Captain's Reception); and on the penultimate night.

Guests often book back-to-back segments.  One segment could be 10 nights; the other 7 nights.  Total of 17.  BUT,  NO formal optional nights--on either segment--because no single segment reaches the 16-night's threshold.

As always--the bottom line is to check DIRECTLY with Regent; or via a trusted Travel Agent having experience booking Regent cruises.  Provide your Booking Number.  Regent will confirm whether or not Formal Optional applies to your specific booking.

    GOARMY!

Sounds like you are a seasoned traveler on Regent, I wonder if you can answer a couple of questions for me-- what is the Penultimate Night? Also, I always hate to miss the Miso Sea Bass and Lobster Thermador nights in Compass Rose, I know the sea bass is Captain's Welcome but can never guess when it will be the second time.  Any ideas for me?  I know I can special order but it's nice to have it on their schedule.  Thanks in advance.

  6. We had 2 large groups with us aboard Mariner 2 years ago, it was terrible for those who were not part of those groups.  They were insurance salespeople and very poorly behaved.  Shorts after 6 PM, drunk all of the time, disgusting!  People who had obviously earned the cruise but never would never have booked using their own money.  How did you learn of the groups?  I would like to know if there is something similar on any of our upcoming bookings!

  7. So the CDC posted an update earlier this week recommending cruise ship travel should be deferred:

    https://www.traveloffpath.com/the-cdc-warns-u-s-travelers-against-travel-on-cruise-ships-worldwide/

So far they have not extended the ban beyond October, so I wonder if this is good news?  Will they lift the ban and just issue recommendations so that people who wish to cruise can do so, or am I missing something?

My sister and I just returned from 10 wonderful days on the Mariner. After reading some posts from passengers who cruised the week before I was wondering if things had changed. Not at all. The Mariner was as I remembered it but spruced up after dry dock. The cabin is in a nice blue color. I know many crew members and it was wonderful to reconnect. The food was as good as always and we did have a few special dinners that were excellent. The GM was Michael Coghlan whom I met for first time. I know some of the other GMs but had never cruised with him. We had dinner one night and he was delightful. The new restaurant manager, Nino Libassi came from Oceania and is one of the best restaurant managers. Although we don't cruise with Regent for the entertainment I didn't think it was bad. I thought the singers and dancers were fair. Paul Reynolds and John did a fine job. Nicola Richards (we have cruised with her) was all over the place making sure people had fun. We had three fun parties and danced every night with the Dynamic Duo, Kasia and Boogie. She's phenomenal and will be on Splendor next year.  It was another wonderful Regent cruise and I have a hard time understanding some of the criticisms. Yes, Regent is not for everyone and we all like different things. To me, Regent is the perfect cruise line. This was my sister's first Regent cruise (we originally were going to Cuba) and she loved every minute. My husband and I will be back on the Mariner in December and I'm looking forward to seeing those friends again.

It was our pleasure to dine with you and your sister at the GM's table!  I agree that Mariner looks fantastic since the dry dock.  Everything was up to high standards except dinner at Prime 7 surprisingly, but considering the number of meals we had while aboard they are still showing excellence in all levels of service on this and the other ships!

  9. We are joining you for this excursion and I looked at the description from Regent.  It says: Dry bags will be available to transport your belongings ashore (guests may have to share a bag). Bring only what you can easily be carried as the boat cannot be responsible for personal belongings left onboard.

So if you leave your money in your pocket indeed you will be paying your bar bill with soggy dollars!  See you all in a couple of weeks.  Just heard that my FAVORITE Social Hostess is joining this cruise, the lovely Nicola Richards!  We will have Paul Reynolds as CD as well, top talent!

  10. I wanted to start a discussion to see if other Seven Seas Society members actually like (and wear) the current version of the Seven Seas Society pin.  I have only seen a handful of gentlemen wear theirs on their jacket lapel, and I'm not sure I have ever seen any ladies wear them.  In contrast, the old Radisson pins were a bit more elegant and I continue to wear mine to the Seven Seas Society party while aboard.  I wonder if Regent could see their way to a new pin with the new Regent "R" and perhaps make them of different colored metals based on status if others on this board are in agreement that the current pin could be improved.

I do love the other graduated perks of the SSS and enjoy every one of them, except the pin!  Thanks for joining the discussion!

  11. I just watched Episode 1 via the link on Facebook and enjoyed it--such fun seeing John Barron as a movie star!  Also the shopping trip with F&B Manager Stephane was quite interesting with the head chef bargaining with local fishmongers for fresh fare.  Nothing too good for the passengers aboard RSSC!  Looking forward to seeing the next installment if it's posted on FB.

  12. Splendor is suppose to be a sister ship to the Explorer which I was on last year. We were in a G1 suite, not one of the top ones and had welcome champagne, 24 hour room service, personalized minibar, king size bed, large closet and everything we needed.
Interesting, the web site lists a queen sized bed for the G and H suites on Explorer. I had wondered if that was really true, sounds like you found the bed size to be larger than queen size. Good information, many thanks for sharing.
