  1. Greetings--We got accustomed to playing trivia immediately following tea in the Observation Lounge aboard Explorer on our past several cruises. The results from the Mensa quiz were also announced. I wonder if anyone here could be so kind as to tell me if both tea and trivia are in the same lounge aboard Yoyager? Or do we need to be on the move inbetween the two? Thanks!

  2. I do understand about the Navigator. We have been on her 4 times. We have been in 30 foot seas on the Voyager where 2 dining room windows busted and many stayed in their cabins. We enjoyed watching the sea and had no sea sickness. My only problem is I get my "sea legs" and they stay with me after I leave the ship for days. Since land is not moving...I do.

You may suffer from MDDS, it's an unusual illness that I get a well. See your doctor and get an Rx for Klonapin before the cruise and it won't happen!

  3. In wonder if they allow more than 2 bottles of wine at embarkation? Like most lines, they don't allow any hard liquor to be brought on board at any time but I am not crazy about their wine list and would prefer to bring my own wine each night and pay corkage. Anyone have experience in bringing more than 2 bottles aboard at sailing?

  4. The original -- miserable -- box hair dryers with the hose are still installed in each stateroom's bathroom on Nautica, but plug-in, hand-held hair dryers are now provided in each room, too. I think a cruiser would have to have exceptionally long and thick hair to be dissatisfied with the ship-provided hair dryer.

Thanks for the quick responses! You saved me some space in my luggage.

  5. Does anyone know if they provide a decent hair dryer on the Nautica? I recall a few years ago there was a wall mounted one in the bathroom that didn't work very well. Not sure if they have added hand held ones that you can use with an outlet at the desk area. Thanks for the intel!

  6. We are wondering the same, our flight arrives at 7:30 AM so we will have several hours to kill before the noon checkin. Would be nice to do the HOHO bus, but with the luggage I don't see that happening.

  7. For Geiranger I would suggest a bus tour or a hop on/off to Eagles Rd. viewpoint, Flydallsjuvet and Mt. Dalsnibba.

This is the standard must see things to do in Geiranger. You should also take some time to walk around the small village.

Ålesund is a nice town to explore on foot or by using the hop on/off or the choo choo train. Must sees are Mt. Aksla viewpoint, Brosundet bridge, Ålesund church, Apoteker gaten and Moloveien.

If you prefer to venture outside town an amzing trip will be to the Path of the Trolls. Either by renting a car or by the ships tour.

If you are feeling more adventurious you could rent a car and drive to Stranda, Hellesylt over to Norangsdalen and to the quaint little village of Oye.

Olden - Most prefer to go to the Briksdal glacier.

This is just a small sample. If you have further in depth questions about a certain itinerary or what to do in a specific port I am more than happy to help you out.

    Lars.

    Hi Lars,

You mention Ålesund-- where is that on our itinerary?

  8. Laura & Joe ~ Here's a bit of good news I heard this morning from someone who knows...Cava will be on the new wine list sometime this Summer! No not inclusive, but at least it will be available.

And a side note to English Tim, you see, things do change per your requests, just slowly. Have patience and keep sending us your suggestions.

Thanks so much Bonnie. Fingers crossed it will be on the Journey June 14!

  9. We are booked on the Journey this June and our itinerary is listed below. We have a rental car booked in Honningsvag to go on a bird safari and the up to the North Cape. We also booked the all-day ship tour in Aurland that takes us to the Flam railway and onto Gudvangen since the railway won't presell tickets. Any other ideas for the other ports would be most welcome! We are not "hikers" but have no problem walking for miles and miles.

  10. Hi Bonnie! Just wondering what the office said about including a cava, prosecco or cremant in the complimentary wine list? I sail in 2 months and need to know if I'm shipping a case over! :D Thanks.

  11. If you look at the current free wines on board, they are in the $8-12 range. I'm just saying that cava is a cheaper alternative--Segura Vuidas reserve is at the low end of the range.

  12. I agree that Azamara should included a Cava in their included list. It costs $4 per bottle, what's to lose? I think a bunch of us out there love our sparkling wine over other more expensive wines that they serve and this could be a great alternative. At my company we always weigh cost vs impact to decide what we're going go with and in this case it's a no brainer.
