Miami is one of our port stops in march. Anything within walking distance of the port? Restaurants, things to do?
This may turn into a sea day for us.
-
Does it matter?
:o NO - it's just where my poor brain goes. Like that old saying - of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!
-
:D Every time I see someone wearing a hat (cover) indoors I always wander if they wear that in the shower or to bed???

Looking for current information on the Dockside Bar at Havensight Mall.
We have been enjoying bloody marys at this bar for many years.
We will be checking in December, but looking for any update now.
RCL has been docking at Crown Bay lately, which makes the trip to Havensight a complicated effort; but the bloody mary is worth it!
-
no food - but the Dockside Bar at Havensight Mall makes the best bloody marys. Totally from scratch.
Hoping to see them back in business when we get there in December.
-
we drink the tap water - bring our "tervis" tumblers from home to combine water and ice.
-
the shirt thing makes for easy packing. You will see them all week - wearing the same thing! Leaves more room for shoes!

thanks for the lovely review. we are sailing a transatlantic on the Vision OTS in just a few days.
Hope Captain Marek is still onboard.

Thank you for all the answers. As always, I find it difficult to articulate the true question when writing. The question was how to get more than 2 bottles on-board. The bar manager is an old friend, and this wine is a special private collection bottle from home.
-
we are taking an extra bottle of wine (in addition to the 2 for our cabin) as a gift for the bar manager. If we identify this as we check-in, will they call him at that point? Does anyone have experience with this.

We have cruised on Grandeur and Enchantment, also sister ships of Vision. We are scheduled for this year's TA, and enjoyed reading this thread.
We prefer this size ship, and don't need all the bells and whistles of the newer ships. Give me a comfy chair in the Viking, a good book, and I am a happy camper. Add a glass of wine, and my day is definitely brighter.
-
I use IE, Chrome and Firefox. And depending on the time of day, the weather, the mood of my computer :D, I can search for cruises. But if karma is not on my side, :(, forget it.
I am definitely not a techie, so I always blame the bad juju on karma.

Once again - thank you to all the great answers. I have many notes of places to check. Will start with our hotel concierge, and go from there.

As noted Superbrugsen, Irma, Føtex etc can get you the first 2 items.
But I am not sure what the last item is. :-)
Thank you for info. The pillow form is usually a foam pillow form that can be covered with needle work, fabric, or some other covering. I didn't want to carry them on the plane, and was hoping I could pick them up while in Copenhagen.
-
Danish Viking - thanks for all the helpful information.
What type of store would we visit for: wine; mouth wash; and craft items (pillow form). Thanks in advance.

There is a Porter shed at the port of Baltimore - where you can pick up luggage tags if you don't have them already. There is construction in the port area - so it's in a different location, but still there.
-
a few years ago we were sailing from San Diego pier. We were directed to a line for baggage tags ( we didn't have them). After standing in line for a VERY long time - we were directed to a second line and after a VERY ling time - were directed to a third line. Again - no luck with the tags.
We finally found a cruise line person who got on the walkie talkie thing and directed us to the correct line. Not sure if the baggage handlers were on some kind of work slow-down, or what - but it ended up taking more than an hour of standing in various lines to get the tags.
I have had a phobia of going into the line for baggage tags ever since.:(

not waiting for retirement - I work for cruises. But - this year for our 40th anniversary - we are doing the northern Transatlantic - Copenhagen to Cape Liberty on Vision OTS. Add some days in Copenhagen precruise - and we have a 3 week vacation.
-
We have booked on-board previously - because we could combine the D+ balcony discount and the OBC. Is that still applicable.

We docked in Crown Bay in March, and needed to get to Havensight. We caught a taxi to downtown, and were transferred to a second taxi to Havensight. We only paid the 2nd taxi driver. The first driver assured us that was the way to do it
On the return trip, we caught a taxi in Havensight, and returned all the way to Crown Bay. No problems. Unfortunately, the only ship in St Thomas was us at Crown Bay. So most of Havensight was closed. We were meeting friends at the Dockside Bar, so we were OK. I did have some shopping I wanted to do while there. Saved some bucks since they were closed.

Searching for cruises in December 2018 on Grandeur OTS. The cruise calendar website shows a 9-night Dec 13. The RCL website only shows 2 12-nights Dec 1 and 22. Is this already chartered??? Or just not released yet for booking??? Dec 9 is our preferred cruising date.
-
waiting for RCL to post the year-round itineraries - particularly Grandeur OTS. Any idea when???? Anxiously waiting to book our very first B2B.
-
Yesterday I was searching for this - and got a great list of Concierge threads - but not "The List." (Google doc)
Today I find the list - but it is blank. Gotta love technology!

We were still doing the wine package on Grandeur until Oct last year. Now they are pushing their drink packages, and you can get a discount on wine by the bottle with a drink package.
Since we only drink wine - it doesn't financially make sense for us to do the drink packages. We just plan ahead based on our wine of choice$$$.
Miami as port day

We are not beach or water activity people. Have to avoid the sun. We have done a few things in Miami, but really like to just get off the ship and walk around.
