  1. Yes on embarkation day on the BA Moderno has a buffet lunch open to all guests.

On sea days they also do a themed lunch buffet that is also open to all guests, Indian, Mexican and German.

It's also open for breakfast (not sure if it's sea days or all days), but as someone mentioned it's much less hectic than the Garden Cafe with only a slightly more limited selection. The Garden Cafe on the BA is an absolute zoo for breakfast. Horrible way to start your day.

  2. I've already researched prior threads. I've seen discussions of the text of the SDP terms and conditions that would rival great talmudic debates, and yet I continue to find conflicting information on whether or not you can order multiple apps at Ocean Blue after paying the $15 SDP upcharge.

So does anyone have any recent experience that can put this to bed? I know the big seafood platter isn't covered by the SDP, and I know that you're limited to one entree. Beyond that, do any different restrictions apply to Ocean Blue on the SDP apart from the other restaurants, specifically regarding multiple non-entree orders?

If it matters I'm most interested in the Breakaway.

  3. WashyWashyHappyHappy95,

    Thank you.

I am trying to see if a quiet place (outside with a fresh air where you can look at ocean without any abstractions, shaded- can not be exposed to the sun, no noise of any kind, no loud music playing) exists on this ship or on any other ships. I am a first time cruiser sailing from NYC to Bahamas on October 8 for 7 days. I would like to relax without any disturbances (can not stand loud music, going on board to to hear and see ocean.

Next time you should consider booking the Gem.

  4. And the Waterfront is only quiet if the people around you are quiet. Last BA cruise I was on a couple saw fit to blast their little mini-boom box.

The Deck 7 promenades are usually quiet except for the shuffleboard, but there are never any loungers down there.

During the day SpiceH20 is usually pretty quiet.

Deck 16 forward WOULD be a great quiet spot, but for some reason on the Breakaway they always blast music up there through the speakers. It's so annoying. On the Gem, that uppermost forward section is a designated quiet zone, and it's lovely. If the Breakaway would just do that, too, it would make the ship a lot more pleasant.

  5. Ah, look at the bright side . . . at least I gave you a direct answer to your question. (This IS what you wanted, right?).

There are others here who would not have bothered and instead would have pointed out that since you've only dealt with NCL that it is pretty short-sighted of you to be "surprised" that other cruise lines don't operate the same exact way.

I just didn't want to make you look foolish. :whiskey-glass:

I bet you're fun at parties.

  6. I've only sailed NCL, but I'm looking to tryout out the Anthem of the Seas.

I was surprised that on the RC website, there were no perks or bundles being pushed. Just the straight up price of the room and that's it.

I didn't book, so do they try to hit you with those types of offers (free drinks! free dining!) after you book? I have to admit after only dealing with NCL I was a little surprised to see another line basically just say "Here's the room" without some kind of additional BOOK NOW SALE ENDS TOMORROW type pitch.

  7. Just so I'm clear, your grievances are:

    1. The captain didn't navigate around a hurricane properly. Just out of curiousity, what's your nautical background?

    2. You're mad you didn't get a free meal at La Cucina because the seas were rough.

    3. Your apple juice was delayed.

    4. Missing perks related to your Latitudes status. Did they forget the chocolate on the pillow one night or something?

  8. I read somewhere that someone had complaints about cig butts and other trash landing on the balcony from other balconies above, but I guess I just have to hope for less human garbage on this sailing.

Looks like you do have the standard overhang amount for some privacy, and you're only in full view if you're right up on the bannister. Well if someone above me wants to stare at a fat pasty 34 year old man laying on a lounge chair, be my freakin' guest.

Is the motion any more noticeable being that far forward? I'm psyched about the easy waterfront access. Heck since I've got my own place to lay out, and I'll mostly be dining on deck 6 and 8, I may not even make it topside the whole cruise.

  9. does anyone know if the Breakaway has live webcams throughout the duration of the cruise? I really look down on this because it's an invasion of privacy. thanks.

You have no reasonable expectation of privacy anywhere on a cruise ship with the exception of your stateroom and the spa.

Therefore legally, anyone (crew, passengers or otherwise) can film you without your consent being required.

  10. On the Gem last month found the MDR food to generally be pretty good, sometimes surprisingly good.

Even though one night they tried to pass off tilapia for a hake filet. I complained and they brought out something that was actually hake, but didn't taste fresh at all.

But they also served some lovely salmon and grouper, along with one of the best roast beefs I've ever had.
