The Star of the Seas debut is almost a year and a half  later.

"Star of the Seas is a cruise ship built for Royal Caribbean International and will be the second Icon-class cruise ship built. The name was announced on October 5, 2023. She is expected to enter service on 17 August 2025, "

I looked, both Star princess and Star of the seas debut August 2025.

We were booked in a reserve cabana mini suite on deck 9 but not on the sun deck. We were way far forward and concerned about how far we were from activities. After seeing that picture , we decided that location was more important than the cabana. To us, it just looked like another room behind the balcony. Could not see spending much time there if any since there is a sitting area in the mini suite.  We would sit on the balcony, close to the ocean most often  So we moved to a reserve mini suite on deck 15   It can be very confusing

After we looked at the rooms more, decided to keep the balcony we have with the larger balcony since we will spend more time out there than in the cabana area. We didn’t change our room. So I agree with you.

  3. The explanation of the cabana balconies makes more sense to me now. Thanks for showing that. I do not have one booked however I was thinking of it when we did book. We ended up booking just a regular balcony cabin with the larger balcony. Now seeing the differences, I may see if any of the purple ones are available.

I tend to agree - I remember the excitement of the new with the Royal in 2013 (and jumping on one of her 2 day preview cruises) but then came the balcony size complaints, lack of prom deck, initial lack of mid-ship stairs, squeezing everyone into that TV Studio. Sphere class won't be for everyone but hopefully enough positives in the end.

Yes, this is what I keep thinking to myself. Just give it a chance. I can’t say I don’t like it if I don’t try it!

  5. My husband and I are not against children either. But we prefer a calm relaxed environment. We picked princess because it was mostly older adults. We’re only in our 40’s however, we fit in better with the 60’s crowd. I tend to believe it was because we were raised by an older generation. We don’t have kids, don’t like loud parties with a lot of drinking, and very much enjoy a nice sit down dinner with good conversation. We might try one of the other cruise lines you guys have mentioned here if we see princess going down the Royal Road.

We had limited expectations for the food on our last cruise, on Regal.

Especially after some not-so-great reviews coming in after Regal had returned to FLL.

And, guess what, most, MOST of the time, the food was very good!

The biggest disappointment was both the food, and the experience, at Crown Grill.

Our experience, and even the beef, at our usual table in the MDR was better!

This makes me sad you had a bad experience. Our best experience with Crown Grill was on Regal. I’m so sorry.

  7. I’m booked, interested to see how it will be. Haven’t sailed with Princess since Regal first sailed out of Fort Lauderdale. And only have been on one cruise between when Symphony came to Miami. I can tell you, not a huge fan of the mega ships. Loved the Regal.
