Britannia club only today. General sale tomorrow. Saga messed up again

    But still no prices visible.

  2. According to Google Earth, it's approx. 2km from cruise port to the Cathedral and will take around 30 minutes. Of course the timing is dependent on many variables.

And other Cruise Lines will be issuing Summer 2026 itineraries in March!, Get on with it Saga.

Yes, I'm already eyeing up my pre-Christmas 2026 Canaries trip with Cunard 😁

  4. Yes, go for it and please post a review on the Saga boards.

I have 3 Queen Anne cruises booked, 2 in QG and 1 in PG and just hope I'm going to enjoy the experience of such a large ship.

As far as I am aware, E deck cabins never have the 35% discount. I think the maximum for this deck is 30%.

Sorry, nosapphire this is not true.

Based on the questions you have answered, you have chosen not to select Saga Cruise Single Trip Travel Insurance. 98456

    Magic of the Northern Lights [ SD130 ] K Grade £ 5024.00

    Early Booking Discount - 35% £ -1785.00

Just for clarity this is an E deck midships cabin reserved after pre-reg phone call

It has been our experience that one needs to pre register if you want any chance of securing a large discount on the cabins that are in highest demand. The demand for the cabins on E deck will always be much higher than the demand for suites so the need to pre register varies as to the category of cabin required. We had pre registered for our last cruise but by the time we were called the discount offered on E deck cabins was already down to 20% whereas A deck cabins and suites were still being offered with 35% discounts. Guaranteed cabins offer a good deal but only if one has not been able to achieve a good discount on release. The price of a guaranteed cabin is never below the price of an E deck cabin with a 35% discount. I offer as an example our own experience with the cruise that was due to sail to the Black Sea in 2022. This was our second cruise with Saga and we had not pre registered. Our reservation was for a standard cabin on B deck on which we were offered a 20% discount. This cruise was rebranded as a cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean when the Black Sea element of the cruise was cancelled and passengers were offered various alternatives. One of the options was a full refund.  I believe that those passengers who decided to keep their bookings were not offered any reduction in the cost of their cruise. We cancelled our booking and received a full refund. We later decided to rebook the  cruise but this time we opted for a guaranteed cabin which equated to the cost of a cabin on E deck with a 30% discount. We were obviously more than happy to have saved ourselves just over £6,000 but of course we could have saved roughly the same amount if at the time of booking we had been been able to book a cabin on E deck instead of B deck.  My point being that IF we had been able to book a cabin on E deck at a 35% discount it would still have been cheaper than the price of a guaranteed cabin. We quickly learned the lesson that if we want to be in with a chance of getting a good discount (30% 35%) on a standard cabin on E deck we need to pre register. Failing that it is a case of paying substantially more or opting to go the Guaranteed cabin route much closer to the sailing date. As with most things in life it comes down to personal circumstances and preferences.

    twotravellersLondon has confirmed this.

We are pre-registered up until 2027 at the moment, and will look at 2028 when the 2025 summer sailings are released. There is no risk to the fee so win, win.

Spirit of Discover, Contrasts of Scandinavia, 14 days, leaving 21 May 2023, standard twin midships on C deck @ 22% below the full fare, a total saving of almost £2k. (£1,948 to be more precise.)

Not as much as the 35% pre-registered discount but we couldn't book that one in advance because of some personal uncertainties... so we were more than happy with 22% at the last minute. And the cruise was great.

Even had Jools Holland on board.

Thank you very much for that. 🙂

I hear people speak about discounts given closer to sailing but I have never seen a discount as great as that when pre-registered.

We will continue to pre-register and choose our cabin.

    Absolutely not.

We had a brilliant Baltic cruise last year at a huge discount... booked the week before the departure! Missed out on one excursion that was fully booked but... that's life.

Can you be more forthcoming re discount on standard cabin price please?

Length of cruise and location, TIA

We travel on QE and QV to the Canaries regularly. Always in QG. Always November/December.

Can't say I find the prices any lower than on other trips. On release, there are usually decent prices, if you're quick, but they rise pretty quickly.

We enjoy leaving the lousy UK winter weather and enjoy the warmth and sunshine.

Last November we had a Q3 on Deck 8. This year we have a Q3 suite at the stern of QA, as we also do the following year.

Although, I must admit, I'm just a wee bit apprehensive because it's an unknown, so fingers crossed!

    Stewart

We’ve booked QA for this December and next November/December to the Canaries in the Q5 cabins at the stern.

Lovely sheltered balconies. Love a little winter sun and being looked after  in the grills.

We didn't get an excursion brochure.  We got a few photocopied pages with excursions available to buy and the inclusive ones.

However I do feel Saga waste a lot of money posting holiday and cruise brochures so much.

We seem to get them sent at least once, sometimes twice, a week.   They must be very expensive to print and most just get put in the recycling bin.  Once we have that years brochures we don't need them to keep sending them. Also the postage is very expensive.

I always feel if they didn't waste something money like this, the cruises could be a bit cheaper

With regards to brochures it's easy to go to your MySaga account and select no mail. If you don't have an account give them a call and ask them to remove you from the mailing list.

After our recent Caribbean cruise where Saga cancelled four ports and then sailed back to the UK for nine days across the Atlantic without a stop, only to blame the weather or mechanical breakdowns we have decided not to travel with Saga again.

    Fair enough 🙂

    Were you offered any compensation?

Friends that I recommended Saga to were caught in the BOB on the previous cruise to you.

It was their first cruise and whilst they enjoyed the first half they have decided to fly out in future rather than sail thru the bay. Next cruise is with Silversea

Where is your favourite cabin situated? We have noticed that Aft seems to disembark first.

Usually midships on D or E.  We’ve noticed decks seem to be cleared top down. Certainly no priority for Gold Britannia members.

Last cruise there were roughly 70 members in each of Bronze, Silver and Gold with around a dozen Sapphire and 1 Diamond members, on an almost full ship.

We are now considering driving ourselves down to Portsmouth, although not so keen on the Dover trip 🙂

That’s very much my feeling. If you’re happy without alcohol and the very basic ‘excursions’ included, you’re left with the transport from home to port. And after the recent changes involving Uber drivers (friends of ours sitting terrified in the car with a dangerous driver who spoke no English) I’m not sure that’s a plus!

The quality of the restaurants and the food is important to us, and I’m disappointed that that’s going downhill to cut costs.

As a regular cruiser with Saga the included excursions hold no value as we have visited these ports many times. As to the transfers, we always seem to be tag 30 and sitting kicking our heels to disembark is no fun.

I've always found QG to be same price as Saga suite not deluxe, assuming you get the 35% or 30% discount by buying early on Saga.

For the full no discount price would never go Saga. Competition at that price is Silver sea, Seabourn or Regent. Which do have better food.

I refer you back to an earlier post with regards to pricing.

    e.g.

We have a 14  night Canary Isle cruise booked in QG for Dec. 2024 £4700 each, currently a deluxe cabin on a 14 night Saga cruise in Dec. 2024 is £5225 (35% discount). Our QG grade cabins are all sold out.

Of course it's not all about the money, we still travel with Saga and hope to book a couple of cruises with them when they release their 2025 offerings.

It's all about personal choice and what works for you.

Obviously it all depends on the itinerary and more importantly whether or not Sagas included amenities have value to you.

    Saga gold and Cunard diamond.

I know that food is very subjective but i could not possibly agree that Saga's food is comparable to, let alone better than food served in Cunard's Queens Grill. In the last 4 months we have cruised on Saga,Cunard [Queens Grills] and Regent and when you can eat caviar, lobster, chateaubriand and [as i'm sure you know] many other luxury items any night of the week that you can say Saga's food is superior to Queens Grill is certainly not my conclusion, after all how much effort is required to go off menu and to ask for what you would like that evening if nothing on the Al a Carte menu take your fancy. While there is nothing wrong with the food at all on Saga, for me, it does not match the food served in Queens Grills. Post pandemic i don't think the dining experience in general on cruise lines [which is not just about the food] has been as good but do still think overall that Queens Grill is the best, obviously, like you not everyone will feel the same.

I’m just back from a Saga cruise on Discovery and have to agree. Food quality is declining, even in specialities.

Too much emphasis on included alcohol at the expense of the food.

Who wants or needs sparkling wine at breakfast?

Ordering off menu in QG I can have an individually prepared dish every night if I so desired.

Lead in QG prices are roughly comparable to the cost of a deluxe balcony on Saga.
